The fish tacos were terrible. They were laid out flat and massively covered in raw cabbage, impossible to pick up and hold. I deconstructed the taco and found plenty of fish underneath with some kind of light pink sauce on top that I'm guessing was sour cream. It was cold and unbearable bland. There were just a few cubes of cucumber, red onion and a light orange fruit. This was completely devoid of flavor - the orange was barely detectable as an orange, no lime, no jalapeño. I squeezed on fresh lime and added salt which at this point could do nothing to improve zero blah depressing bland flavor of these cold tacos. read more

College memories are keeping this place in business right now. If they don't get their act together- I mean trained staff who know how to run a restaurant efficiently (there are too many noticeable oddities to mention!) then I'm going to predict that this place will struggle to get and keep customers within the year. The food is just okay, the quality is nothing you would find at a taqueria, actually it is somewhat bland. This is the second Dos Coyotes I've been to. The food is ok but the approach to order at the counter and collect your own silverware, salsa, etc is a bit laborious. Also, I've noticed they focus more on food expediters than cashiers which equates to long lines with a single cashier who is also expediting the food. Not much enthusiasm to help waiting customers. To add insult to injury, the food expediter mis-identified our food (she gave me my wife's order and her mine) and the identical kids orders came with different food on each plate. I've loved Dos since college and so happy that I don't have to go to Davis to get my fix. Now that I have kids, I love that this is a place where we can go as a family and not have to constantly worry about sushing them. It's very family friendly. You order at the front, and grab a seat. The food was mediocre, that was the general consensus from everyone I went to lunch with (more than five people). The chips were bland, the guacamole needed salt and the salsas were not at all good. I ordered two tacos. The shrimp one was good, but the fish taco came with three tortillas and one tiny piece of fish no bigger than my finger and a tiny bit of cabbage. What a disappointment on our first visit. We arrive on 7/8 at 7:40 and we had a line of 5-6 ahead of us. 30 minutes later we placed our order...was not that busy and it took 30 min?? I was pleasantly surprised. Ordered the chili nachos and the paella burrito. The burrito was out of this world amazing. I normally don't order burritos but this one came highly recommended and who doesn't love paella?! All the flavors shine and no salsa is needed. Shrimp and fish were juicy. And the sauce inside was so delish! I'll definitely be back. Great margaritas as well! The salsa bar is off the hook! The music and ambiance is very chill and comfortable which is important to me. I eat the Adobe chicken salad once or twice a week and, when it's made correctly, I really enjoy it. Why am I rating so low? Because it's almost never made correctly. If I get it to go and don't inspect it I am S.O.L. Last night was the latest in several incidents of receiving my salad without guacamole (obviously the best part). My husband picked it up so didnt inspect it and was already home and unable to go get it. I've received it twice without dressing, innumerable times wirh the wrong amount of dressing, and last night not only was it lacking the guacamole but there was no cheese on the salad. In the condiment cup where the guacamole usually is, there was a tiny pinch of shredded cheese. This is a big salad. Did they realize they were out of guac and think that by not putting cheese on the salad but offering a half teaspoon in a condiment cup would make me think the cheese was gold and better than the guac that is in the menu description? I'm so sick of this happening. I don't want to stop eating here as it's tasty, pretty convenient, and one of the few remaining non-pizza joints in town. But it's not cheap and I'm so frustrated that I so seldom get what I've paid for. read more

YIKES!!!! I have been to the Concord location a couple times for lunch and it was a great LUNCH experience ~ however ~ we went to San Ramon for dinner, and it was quite a spectacle! Very crowded, VERY loud, and a line of 15+ people were waiting to order, and while there are 5 registers, they only had 1 open and MANY people behind the counter disguised as helping but more like standing around. Food was good; nothing spectacular, but the salsa bar is a bonus (as long as they keep it filled). Hopefully just a "mis-"management issue; the wait of 20 minutes to order food and then another 15 to get it, is not worth the visit. I work close to this place so I end up here for lunch all the time. This place always seems to be packed. I usually go before 11:30 to beat the crowd, but if I have to stand in long line to get my food, I will. It's totally worth it. This place has great customer service and their food is delicious. The turnaround time is amazing given that it gets so busy. I usually end up sharing my food with my co-worker because their portion is huge (Well, at least for me). With an abundance of seating and tables, this place can accommodate a large crowd--and it does so on a daily basis! I never would have thought I could say this about Mexican food but the cuisine here is so refreshing. The salads are seriously impressive! I'm talking huge, delicious, and absolutely beautiful! So many different fresh, colorful ingredients! Can't go wrong with any of the salads! You can tell they use quality ingredients and really take pride in the meals they serve. No "thank you", "this is your glass for your iced tea.... it's in the silver dispenser in the corner, that isn't marked as iced tea", "'Suzy' will be right over with your margarita", "take this number to any seat and we'll be over with your burrito and chips shortly...". confused with my glass of ice and my number, I walk to the salsa station. where is the iced tea, is it in the coke machine? I walk back over to the counter ask the guy and he looks up at me like I'm asking the dumbest question on the planet. He points out it is in fact the silver dispenser in the corner. Still not sure if my margarita will be dropped off with my burrito so I fill up my iced tea and sit down at a table with a few napkins and a fork. My burrito arrives with chips, awesome now I can go back to the salsa bar and get some salsas! I ask the lady before she walks away, do I have a margarita coming? "Oh yeah! I was wondering where you were!" Fine, not her fault or mine. The cashier could've told her or me what to do. Stand here, or "'Suzy' it's that lady over there". I already knew I'd be eating my burrito with a fork and knife, and look around seeing everyone's attempting to eat there food with just a fork.. so when I head back to the salsa station I assume they'd have restocked the station and cleaned it up a bit. Nope. So I walk back to the counter and ask the two girls behind the counter if they had knives. "What, there aren't any over there??" They both look confused. She hands me a plastic one. Seriously. I never write bad reviews. It's not worth it. I'm in the industry myself so I leave a lot of room for error and simply being human. I understand there are days that you're exhausted, still trying the best you can do, that's where the team comes in to help pick up the slack so the diner still has a decent experience and hopefully will come back regardless of errors. This is not the case. This is laziness at its best. You're a fairly new restaurant. If you don't retrain your staff or take an opportunity to step back and observe what probably the rest of terrible reviews are saying you will not make it another year. What's worse is that my burrito has gone cold because I've spent more time writing this review than eating. And honestly chipotles burritos have more flavor than this one. Sorry. Had my first of many meals here today. The food was great and really fresh. I had the adobe salad with steak and it was the perfect size with all the Mexican classic flavors. Great location and even better environment once you walk in. It was busy and loud, as a Mexican joint should be. This is a great family restaurant, and I look forward to taking mine next time. First the food: below average. Too much "stuff" on top of everything. Salsas just not very tasty. The tomatillo one tasted like a cup of sugar was in it. That's not right.
