I had ordered eggs benedict and a belgium waffle, when my eggs benedict arrived it looked really good.....but looks can be deceiving, I started eating my eggs benedict and I got the over powering taste of lemon from the hollandaise sauce that made me screw my face up, I ate a few more bites and then I got a burnt taste in my mouth....the ham was burnt. The hollandaise ended up seperating, and one of my eggs was cooked not poached:-( it was a disappointment.... I was not happy when my belgium waffle arrived it was plain.......I expected it to have whip cream and strawberries like a belgium waffle should have, instead it came with syrup....I was not impressed...all in all I givee today's breakfast a 2 out of 5 stars. read more

I read the great reviews on Yelp, and heard from my friends that this was the place to have breakfast in Gold Beach. So glad we are there today!! Super friendly place, and fantastic, home-cooked foods. I wouldn't say it was "divey", but I would say it has that "Small town diner" feel. Great coffee...and that's from an Oregon "Coffee Snob". Sometimes, you just want a good 'ol Cup of Joe. Everything we ordered was so good. Seriously the best veggie omelet I've ever had! I was also able to take home half of my plate for breakfast tomorrow. Huge portion sizes. Perfect hash browns, and a biscuit the way my Grandma made them. The orange juice was syrupy. The flies were bad. I ordered a chili burger that came completely clipped and covered while missing half of the top bun. The waitress said she would take it off as if I wanted to pay for a plate of chili sopped you in bread. COVID practices are NOT in affect. The owner even came out to confront me about the burger I sent back. No mask and all. While my gf was eating he told me to go outside making me feel very uncomfortable at this restaurant. I stated that even though I wasn't eating she was very hungry and we were going to pay our tab and leave. Continuing to huff and puff his dumb ass back to the kitchen all pissed off. WOW....I am not a burger person, but when we asked what they recommended, they said they made their burgers fresh every day, so we went for it. OMG - I still think about that burger it was so amazing, I had the Bacon Cheeseburger, and it was so juicy and yummy. Oh and the french fries are FRESH, like REAL french fries that I make at home, delicious. We were in Gold Beach from Cali for just a few days and we were blown away by the yumminess of this food. I HIGHLY recommend this place. I also hear their Breakfast is pretty dang yummy too...and we would have definitely gone back if we hadn't been leaving the next day. Very friendly server. We had a lot of questions and she answered all of them with a smile. Definitely a diner atmosphere, so don't show up looking for fine-dining. As for the food - we had: Malibu Chicken - good, but stick with the burger. Chicken was just a bit dried out. Chili Burger - Excellent - and huge. The chili is too mild for my taste, but a restaurant has to cater to people with more delicate palates than mine. Potato Salad - I liked the flavor a lot - but be prepared for a lot of pickle flavor, which I like, but maybe not for everyone. I like my potatoes cut a little smaller and it was a bit runny, but still pretty good. Tater Tots - ok, they are typical Tots, but I love Tater Tots and these were perfect. Overall, we really liked this place. - we will return next time we get to Gold Beach. The prices are good and the food was above average. 3.5 stars would be the perfect score, my wife gave them 3, so I'm giving them 4. read more

Went in for some Togo breakfast. I was greeted by two regulars (think of the muppets in the alcove,) and I took a seat "anywhere." I placed an order with Dee, the owner, who couldn't be any nicer. I got the sausage patty which had to be 1/2 pound, it was as big as my face, home fries and 2 biscuits n gravy to share with the Mrs. everything was perfect. Gravy nice velvety texture with lots of sausage. Home fries were crispy griddle fried just how I like them. And the sausage...slap your mama good. Forgot to take photos of the food, just the decor. Also tried this place on a whim after our hike for lunch. Burger was ok, looked like a costco/syco frozen patty. Fries were hand cut, but not much flavor and not cooked/crispy enough. Think they missed soaking them in water to remove the starch. The hot turkey open face plate was disappointing, pre-formed turkey roll, sliced and then browned on a flat top grill. Sadly, if they would have given me a generous portion of that instead of 4 slices of toast and what tasted like instant mashed potatoes, I probably could been closer to 3 stars. The gravy was pretty good. Staff seemed friendly and well-meaning, just wished the food quality was higher. If I had to eat here again, I would probably go for more breakfast"y" items as those may be actually house-made? read more

We were going to try a nearby Mexican restaurant for lunch, but they were closed, so we decided to try Double D's, since that was one of the restaurants that was on our list to try this trip to Gold Beach. We both had hamburgers, mine was the Bacon Cheeseburger with fries and my Wife's got the Texas burger with curly fries. Both burgers were great with an abundance of fries; we went away very full. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the waitress seemed like she wasn't all that interested in being there. Ok....so just know that going into this place (and into Gold Beach in general)....it's a SUPER conservative, SUPER Trumpy, SUPER anti-masking kinda place. There is a sign when you walk into Double D's ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO BRING IN GUNS. Yes, seriously. But....this is the community its in. We came to Gold Beach for a vacation, not really aware of how obsessively neo-con it is. We came to Double D's after we'd been in town a few days so we were prepared for the non masking and the scary conservatism. We did NOT mention we were from California because apparently everyone in Gold Beach HATES California. So, keeping that to ourselves.......we had amazing service, and overall very solid food. HUGE portions, it was quick and hot, and there was not a bad dish. We had hotcakes and waffles and chicken fried steak and a few other sides and everyone was just solidly good. Seems like you can't go wrong with a meal here, just understand what you're walking into when you walk in and you'll be fine. If you (understandably) don't want to deal with hearing ultra right wing talk, then......I guess drive to Eugene or Portland. read more

This cafe is off the road and kinda hard to spot but some how we saw it while traveling the 101. Boy are we lucky, the food is wonderful and our server (wish I got her name) was fabulous. Came here on our second day in Gold Beach for breakfast and place is pretty friendly, very cosy and you can definitely tell everyone here knows one another :) Our service was on point! I had the Waffle sandwich which includes eggs , sausage and of course waffles and it was very tasty , my husband had a hamburger steak and he really enjoyed it as well his plate was clean for sure! We would definitely recommend this place for a cup of coffee and a little history lesson on how many visitors have stopped by on their way of each journey:) plus they have really friendly service a clean environment and great tasting food :) another stop on our next Oregon trip for sure. :) Thanks again Double D's read more

We were greeted kindly at the double d for breakfast. Good little place easily reached from our coastal hotel. The place was empty so there was no wait and our server brought us water and took our drink order. Had the pork special which was a southern style dish with the gravy and eggs. Way too much to eat without a nap afterwards. My bud had eggs and a burger. It didn't stand a chance. Good place for breakfast I would definitely return to. read more

I often feel like I'm in an alternate universe when my experience at a place is so radically different from that of other reviewers. I start to second guess myself. I wonder "was it really that bad?" It really was - eggs over easy were roughed up and kind of crispy on the edges. Hashbrowns were not browned at all and tasted like griddle grease - no seasoning whatsover. English Muffin smelled so bad that I could not get it to my mouth. The whole meal was inedible. The following day we ate at the Indian Creek Cafe and I ordered the exact same breakfast. It was perfect - over easy eggs were just that, hashbrowns were perfectly browned and seasoned and my english muffin smelled just fine. UPSHOT- GO to Indian Creek Cafe read more
