I've eaten at this DoughBird restaurant a few times since it opened - they're still having growing pains, but for the most part, the food is good. I like the truffle mushroom pizza, the chicken tenders, the mashed potatoes and the macaroni and cheese. I like the Caesar salad & the french dip sandwich with coleslaw but the sandwich needs more meat. They also need to work on getting the food to come out at a consistent time and to prepare the food consistently. As for the bar, they have a pretty good selection of liquor as well as beer and wine, so if you like to drink, there should be no problem, except they don't have blue cheese olives (but you can make your own because they do have blue cheese crumbles). read more

Wanted to love it. One would think that the "chicken is our main component', it should be stellar, delicious. It was terrible. Dry, inedible. What the heck, a chicken place? i got the chicken pot pie which had a spice that gave me adjada (italian) all night. really? If you're going to feature chicken, make the chicken stellar. This place is great for a date night with a non adventurous eater. The fare is nothing daring but done deliciously, albeit a bit on the salty side. We started with a pitcher of the Sonoran summer sangria. This was a crisp, refreshing drink. Tasted more like a fancy lemonade. The pitcher was a bit small and a little too much ice but the flavor was perfect on a hot summer evening. The shishito peppers could have used a squeeze of lemon, but the sauce it was served with sure did live up to its umami name! I couldn't quite put my finger on what was in it but it didn't matter! It was amazing! I wanted to do shots of it! The shaved Brussels salad was nothing special. The lemon vinaigrette didn't come through at all. Just tasted like a creamy dressing, once again, nothing memorable. The dip sandwich was good, nothing fancy. Fries were straight forward. The pizza had tasty dough, nice crust. But the tomato sauce was very salty. The cheese helped cut through it a bit but the salt overpowered the tomato flavor which should be the star of the margarita pizza. We tried a side of Mac and cheese since some diners near us were raving about it. It is delicious. Creamy and rich! But definitely needs to be eaten with something to cut the richness. We were too full to have dessert but will be back soon to try the butterscotch cake. I suggest making reservations as the wait was an hour for two. Luckily we snagged two seats at the bar so we sat rather quickly. Pace of the meal was great. Huge patio but it is on the street side that faces the evening sun. Way too hot to eat out there in the summer heat. I think this impacted the waits for seating. They expected more people to choose the patio but it's probably not going to be a viable option in Tucson except in winter. Maybe if they enclosed it and added misters or a swamp cooler to help and would with the heat and would add more seating. Bartenders were super friendly and helpful with ordering. read more

Following the formula here: Food: We had a Ingredient salad and a Barbecue Chicken salad. Both were kinda mushy, I asked for some seeds for the BCS to add just a hint of texture. You had to be on the lookout to find a small bit of chicken every now and then. Not sure why they named it Barbecue Chicken not much chicken and no taste of much of anything but onion which I asked them to put on the side so I could give it to my wife along with the cilantro and avocado. They did manage to separate the cilantro Wife had the IS and thought it was OK but did agree that her salad was also very limp. Looking at the $20+ pizza selection, I felt foolish asking if they had a smaller personal pizza when the Aviator arrived. Couldn't get much smaller and I guess they don't think mozzarella cheese needs to be in sufficient amount that you could taste it or give just a bit of chew. We shared the pizza and hardly ever have any left but the one piece that was left is still in the frig with the mushy salad leavings and I'm not sure the last time I had a piece of cold pizza last that long Mrs. said the iced tea was good but no refill offered until we were ready to leave. That brings us to service: I would say just on the indifferent side of not too surly sums it up. When I asked for a new fork, the server just sort of tossed a new bundle from another table my way . Ambiance: We ate outside which helped the lukewarm pizza get cold faster. Really nice flower planters gave a trendy ambiance to the view of the parking lot and the traffic noise from Campbell. So, I think I'm gonna go back and change this to one star. With an $11 tip (I don't tip on tax BTW- that's ridiculous, there should be a law!), 2 lackluster salads a very average pizza and 1 iced tea put $70 on the credit card which will make me wince one more time when the statement comes. read more

First time trying this new restaurant in town and absolutely loved it! The outdoor patio is pet friendly. The staff was very friendly, made thoughtful suggestions and was very attentive. The menu has a bit for everyone. We shared the shaved Brussels salad which had a great dressing and the staff readily split it into two for us. We also tried the Detroit style crust which I can't say I've had before so have nothing to compare it to. Overall, I was surprised how light and airy the dough was. Tried this wonderful place last night. There were 4 of us and we had a reservation. They were packed. Our server was Ernie. He was on track. He treated us with respect and he knew the menu. What an amazing person he is. We had chicken parm, pizza, salmon, a delicious salad. Everything was perfect. Dessert, just as Ernie described. Butterscotch cake. Very sweet, but we had no problem eating all of it. This is a bit pricey, but worth every penny. The atmosphere is busy and a little noisy, however you don't really pay attention to it. We loved our experience at Doughbird. We came for Fathers Fay because my husband loves butterscotch and my dad loves peanut butter chocolate - both options on the desser menu. I had seen @realtimemomaz and @tucsonlocalista post about their dishes on Instagram so I was intrigued! My husband and I split a Detroit style pizza and wings. While we ordered teriyaki, we were given the dry rub wings which ended up being our favorite! The wings were crispy and flavorful - one of our top favorites in Tucson. The kids menu had plenty options for our picky eaters. I loved the selection of cocktails. My mom, sister, and I split a pitcher of the summer sangria - wine, apple, yuzu, and honey were the perfect refreshing combination. The butterscotch cake is a must try! I loved the vibe of the place! It was very cute and the staff were very friendly. I got the Blackberry Ricky, a non-alcoholic mock tail, and it was so good! Tart and minty like a mojito but no alcohol. Our server Liszt was amazing at filling up our drinks as soon as they emptied. I got the copper hat pizza and my husband got the prime rib dip with a side of mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was pretty good. But the prime rib dip was bomb! Very flavorful and lots of meat. Such good food! We came here knowing nothing about it and were pleasantly surprised at the unique flavors. We got wings & the chicken tenders and fries. I got teriyaki wings and they were unlike any wings I've tried. The flavor was very citrusy and juicy. SO good! The tenders were basic, but the sauces are what made them delicious. We tried about 6 different sauces and each one wasn't what I expected. There was nothing basic about the sauces and each had a kick of a flavor that made it unique and delicious. Even the fries were just crinkle cut, but so crispy that even when they got cold they were still good. My only complaint was the slow service. We came on a Thursday night at 8pm and didn't get out until 9:20pm because our server kept disappearing and took forever to bring our check. We were one of the last ones out and it seemed like the staff was more interested in cleaning up than helping us out. We got delivery from here - prime rib, whole chicken with polenta, and chicken wings. The food here is super tasty and we will definitely come back in person. I was super impressed with the chicken wings. However. The delivery was missing our polenta and I called the restaurant several times to ask for a refund. They offered a gift card which we never received which was disappointing. Seems like their delivery service is just a hindsight. Just wanted to update this review- we've gone in person and loved the vibe. It's super busy even on a Monday. Wait was 45 min without reservation but we were able to get bar seating right away. Came here on a Thursday evening. Got sat right away and was given menus. Later I had found out it was happy hour and had wished they would've told us before ordering because maybe I could've gotten the drinks and appetizers at reduced prices. We decided on ordering the "Aviator" pizza "Detroit style" (was told they were known for that particular style) and some fried Brussel sprouts as an appetizer. The pizza was delicious but small. It literally was the size of a standard sheet of paper. For $22 you'd think it would be a lot bigger. We were able to have 2 square slices each. The beers I ordered were around $7 a 16oz can. And the Brussel sprouts were slightly burnt tasting and barely seasoned. They were supposed to be spicy and weren't. Overall I'd come back here only for happy hour if they actually have one. Our male server was very attentive and friendly. I however didn't care for the "looks" I got from the hostess that sat us down. I had came directly from work so I was underdressed so maybe that's what her problem was idk. It's not like this is a fancy restaurant. This place reminded me of a restaurant I ate at in Vegas and was just as expensive for what they were serving up. Spent around $62 for 2 beers, a small pizza and an appetizer. First time here. Our kids got us a gift card believing this was right up our alley. We brought a couple of friends along. I started with the frozen Pina Colada. It looked way better than it tasted. Hubby tried the chicken 3 ways and decided the roast chicken was the best. My tenders were okay, but most were very small. I'm glad I got the 10 piece, so there was enough to share. The veggies on top of the wings were tasty. We got the broccolini because you rarely see that served. Hubby didn't care for the sauce it was in. It was quite crowded for 2 PM on Saturday. Have to say I was insanely impressed. Have had one experience at the end of a long day of moving. Our server was on point. She touched our table immediately to greet us and let us know she'd be right back. It sounds simple but basic service standards like this are all but gone from nearly every other place I eat. Our drinks came and mine had several things floating in it, compromised ice was my guess. I was so impressed with the servers reaction and resolution of the issue. These things happen, for me it's how the issue is addressed that matters and these guys were pros about it. Great place to go for groups. Food is really tasty. We went with a large group after a sorority meeting and the staff was amazing and so attentive. Food and appetizers were really good. The ambiance is nice as well. We ate out on the patio which was perfect but the inside was nice also. Only issue with the patio is that the sun will set on that side of the patio. The shades were broken on the day that we went to the restaurant. So those on the opposite side of the table were struggling for a bit while the sun went down.
