Quality donuts at a cheap price. I was astonished when I was told the two donuts I ordered where only $2.10. Especially now that donuts have gotten fancy and could easily cost $2-$4 per donut, Doughnut Hut's prices are great. I had a red velvet donut that was superb. Parking here is a little tricky. There is a parking lot and signs that that say private property and not to park there. I risked it and parked in one of the spots and nothing happened to my car, although I wasn't there every long. My kids wanted a donut and we stopped at this donut shop and my kids picked from the yummy assortment of donuts. They even had a fruity pebbles donut. Sorry I digress, once the kids made their selections. I took out my debit card to pay and the gentlemen behind the glass said that they only accept cash. I didn't realize it was a cash only place. The kind man behind the window handed me the donuts and simply said, "just pay me later." I was shocked because he didn't know me, it was our first time there and I quickly said "no no'" let me run to my car and check for cash. The kronut was really good but, again, nothing too distinctive from other kronuts I've tasted. Thick croissant doughnut with a generous glaze. It was cemented and cold, but I did go at noon so wouldn't expect them to be hot and fresh right then. The strawberry had a soft and airy dough which was nice, but very sweet glaze. I also got a large iced coffee, which was strong, but had a lingering flavor of Thai tea in it. Service: The woman who served me was not very friendly. I felt like my questions about the two doughnuts (I only asked two: 'what flavor is that doughnut?'...'what flavor is that donut?') irritated her, but I wanted to make sure I knew what I was ordering. She asked me if i wanted the coffee sweetened. But didn't specify that meant that she would add Thai flavor in it. Which was fine (I love Thai tea when I want it) but not what I expected. Also, a smile or friendliness doesn't hurt. I always try to be friendly and kind so maybe I have a claim that others should be too. Perhaps she had a rough customer before me or was tired and was just not feeling friendly. She wasn't overtly rude, just not very personable and didn't clarify what she was putting in the coffee. Cost: What confused me the most was the price. I ordered a kronut and a doughnut and a large iced coffee. At first she said it was $17.50, and then she stopped and said $10.75. I find that pretty steep for 2 doughnuts and a coffee. When I got back to my car, I looked up an online menu and it said that the kronut was $3, doughnut was $1.20, and I just looked at the pics of the menu now and see that the large coffee is listed as $2.95. I love the fact that they have the almond doughnut, the thai tea doughnut and a few others. I can only review the bagel sandwich I had here one time. I'm a HUGE donut lover but I was probably trying to cut back on sugar at the time I went because I didn't have a single donut at all. Believe, that's not like me cuz I love my donuts. Its a small hut but they do have a few seats and tables on the side. They had a few sandwiches so I ordered the ham and cheese bagel sandwich. It was satisfying and a pretty good deal at $3.95 considering most places are charging more these days. It filled me up and gave me the energy for my songwriting class I was heading to up the street. I'm a bit disappointed in you Doughnut Hut. Although you were ready and willing to satisfy my needs at 1am, you must have been tired cuz it didn't feel like the first time. Oh vanilla frosting filled, you don't have to try so hard to be sweet - it just comes across as insincere. Same goes for you chocolate filled, and I noticed that you were just a little bit dry tonight. But that's ok, it was late. Best. Donut. Experience. Of. My. Life. So we've been coming here for a while, because they consistently have really good donuts and a better selection than most other places. Especially when you consider that we almost always hit up the donut spots in the late evening. Coming here late, they've already started making donuts for the next day, whereas other places wait until early morning to make fresh so you have about 4 different types to choose from. This place is consistently really good, regardless of when you come. All that said, we went here tonight about 8:45pm. We're headed to the beach early tomorrow and wanted to take some snacks with us. When we rode up (on bikes), they were making fresh donuts, and they looked SOOOO good! They had fresh chocolate old fashioned on a rack, cooling, and my eyes got huge. The guy grabbed one and put it on top of one of the paper bags and handed it to me. We ordered our other donuts (a maple old fashioned, which was also still warm, a blueberry old fashioned, which I never seen anywhere else, and a chocolate frosted yeasted donut, which was just huge), and the guy put them into along for us. I was still holding the chocolate old fashioned, and it was super warm still. We walked a little over to the side and I started pulling off the edges. When I bit into it, I definitely experienced a taste of nirvana or something. It was still warm, soft in the middle, slightly crispy on the outside, and the chocolate was still melty like it was chocolate ganache rather than just chocolate frosting. It was amazing. I feel like my words are not doing this donut justice. It was wonderful, amazing, delicious. It was a donut that Jesus himself would praise. When you go, just ask for whatever is fresh & warm. You won't regret it. In terms of Covid safety: there's no "inside" so the handoff is super safe.
