Been coming here for years but not sure if there is a new chef. Friend and I were disappointed. Pasta undercooked, tomatoes chopped in hot dish should be red, and not hard and cold. Dish was supposed to have ricotta in it, no ricotta. Cold shreds of mozzarella thrown on top. Garlic was hard and not cooked well. I don't like being asked if I eat the garlic by owner. The answer is no, not intentionally, but if I do it shouldn't be raw and hard. Doesn't add any flavor to dish. Friends bolognese dish not much better. Second replacement dish not much better. Owner should have sent an after dinner drink or a desert at end, but instead he disappeared when we left. Won't be going back. read more

Great food. Was treated to dinner at this cozy romantic and enjoyed the grilled salmon with spinach in pink cream sauce - YUM. My mother had the delicious ravioli and her friend loved a chicken dish that was perfectly done! Service was excellent and there was no pressure or rush to eat and leave. Despite some of the lukewarm reviews here, we decided to try this restaurant since we're regular visitors to the neighborhood and we've always wanted to try this place. We are so glad we did. Ok, I agree with Jennifer C. that the endive salad could use a little color but it was tasty. The four of us enjoyed a proscuitto with smoked mozzarella app special, spicy mussels app, a risotto, the monkfish special, as well as, the artic char special. The white wine that the handsome distinguished-looking manager/owner recommended went very well with our meal. Service was very attentive and efficient; they left us alone to leisurely enjoy our coffees. The place was packed on a Friday night. And they accept plastic! We will definitely go back so that we can personally thank the manager/owner who must have stepped out as we couldn't find him when we left the restaurant. read more

Due is a do! Went for dinner at 7 PM on a beautiful Saturday evening looking for outdoor seating and was lucky to find this gem. We did not have reservations but were seated immediately. It's a pretty, unpretentious place with a decent menu. The service was attentive and courteous. The food was great. We had a crispy, fresh salad and fried calamari, shrimp and artichoke for appetizers. The spinach and cheese stuffed ravioli came in a delicious pink sauce and tasted fresh and homemade and the salmon over spinach in a mustard sauce was cooked to perfection. The food was served quickly and hot. I recommend this restaurant for the service, food and atmosphere. read more

This place does a lot of things well. The food is marvelous. Have the fettuccini Alfredo here and you will never order it from anywhere else. Possibly the best salmon in Manhattan; Always super moist and served on spinach which is folded into a wonderful yellow sauce. Due is romantic, not loud- even with a full house- and very, very consistent. I should know. I've been there many times. The only compalint I have is the staff however which seems to have slipped recently. The guys seem disinterested even jaded. One of the waiters in particular has an attitude that can negitively effect your experience. In addition the manager is too aloof to be a greeter. Given all that, the food is very special read more

Whenever we are in New York we eat at Due maybe 8-10 times a year. The food is consistently very good. The wait staff is attentive and friendly and most have been there many years. I particularly love the chicken martini and the salmon, but you eally cannot go wrong The owner is always on premises watching everything. My fiancé and I went here on a recommendation. "The best Italian food in the city!" they said. Coming from an Italian family with high expectations for food, my fiancé cautioned me that it might not live up to the hype. While the food was good, the service was the best I have ever seen. As soon as we arrived without a reservation, we were swiftly brought to a table. We were immediately offered something to drink. There was no menu for drinks; when asked the waiter exclaimed, "We have a full bar!" implying you can have whatever you'd like. We soon ordered a delicious eggplant parmigiana appetizer and I could not get enough of the sauce, which was definitely the highlight of that dish. I sopped the rest up with bread and it made me look forward to my entree of fettuccine bolognese. My fiancé had fuselli with shrimp, which also was delicious. We finished the meal with a melting chocolate heat tortino alla mode. Everything was brought out in a timely way. Our drinks were never depleted. The owner chatted with us briefly on the way out and was truly delighted we had come by as if we were honored guests in his own house. Perfetto! read more

We went to this "real" Italian restaurant over the holidays for the first time after hearing about it for years. It is authentically delicious and as expected. I had the chicken abruzeses which was succulent and deliciously satisfying. I took a star because maybe it was my taste buds but the wine was a bit strong but not in any way deters from the deliciousness of the meal! I had a chocolate heart tort cake for desert and-- I swear it is true that we're I not full-- I would have eaten two more! I look forward to going back soon. read more

Upon entry, the host (manager?) was not friendly and did not greet me and my friend at the door. Waiters were nice but had improper etiquette. The walls, the elegant bar, the furniture, and tablecloths are suggestive of a higher standard to which the restaurant staff and food do not uphold. The bread was underwhelming--not what you'd expect from an ITALIAN restaurant of all. I ordered the rollatine alla montnara. It was supposed to have porcini and did not. The pasta tasted undercooked and the inside of the rollatine was dry and uninteresting. The pink sauce was OK. My friend had the pollo martini with broccoli: two small pieces of chicken soaked in lemon juice with a few pieces of unseasoned broccoli. Needless to say, I will not be returning. read more

Friend and I had a great overall experience at Due. We arrived around 10pm on a Wednesday evening (kitchen closes at 11) and had the place mostly to ourselves. Service was excellent as was the food. We shared a penne pasta with broccoli, garlic & oil (not on the menu) and the seafood special--sea bass cooked in a little oil & seasoning. Both dishes were excellent. Very nice, clean & light meal, but filling enough. Atmosphere excellent as well--getting there late made it extra comfortable. read more

This place is lousy and overpriced, plain and simple. The food is subpar, and the service is even worse. A lousy bowl of pasta took nearly 30 minutes to come out, and the waiter never even bothered to offer an explanation or apology. The tomatoes for the mozzarella-tomato app were rock-solid--they never should have been served. I got the feeling in there that this is quite a "snooty" place filled with "regulars" from the UES. We made a reservation for four at this cute UES spot and were seated promptly. The service was good. The food however was mediocre at best. Our table ordered eggplant rollatini appys and they were not impressed. Overcooked and maybe even previously frozen, not cool when you are charging decent prices. BTW... The prices on their website are outdated, also not cool for those who may care. The entrees, chicken contadina, good but could have used a small carb on the plate. Two veal dishes which were underwhelming and the rotelli pasta dish which was fair. All in all, pricey for what was served and just meh... We will not be back. read more

The service was warm and professional, the food just lovely. Every dish we had -- and between the four of us we tried many -- was superbly prepared. The wine was delicious.
