My 'could have been better rating' for Duke's is not because of the food. The food was amazing. It wasn't because of the service, because the service was great too. The reason why I gave Duke's a 'could have been better rating' is because as we were eating our $400+ dinner, someone from the staff sprayed windex on the window next to our table and the chemicals drifted to our table which the four of us noticed right away. My partner she's super allergic to these types of chemicals so she hardly started her meal before she inhaled the windex and had to leave the table to catch her breath. I don't know why anyone would think it would be a good idea to spray Windex next to a table with people who just got their food from the kitchen. Everything else was fine except the staff member spraying windex on a window that wasn't even dirty was absolutely not necessary. read more

Both drinks were so good. FOOD We both took combo with soup. I took lobster soup and crab burger. My hubby took fish taco (huge) with clam chowder. Everything was super delicious but I wish they had more grill fish beside salmon. Would be nice to have grilled fish mix. Anyways very good fast service, delicious meals. Firstly, the server was pleasant and checked in regularly, but not too much. Every else was very disappointing. Made to sit outside in the freezing weather despite the fact that we made reservations and there was nothing about choosing seating. They give you blankets (unacceptable) and the space heaters did nothing to take the edge off the biting chill. The food was not great. I spent six days in Seattle officiating the wedding of my goddaughter and had the good privilege of dining at the Lake Union location of Duke's Seafood on the afternoon after the wedding when families of both brides gathered together for a post-wedding celebration of sorts. Duke's Seafood appears to be a modestly sized, Washington-based seafood chain with seven locations in Washington. This location is right on Lake Union - in the right location within the restaurant, you have rather stunning views of Lake Union, the Space Needle, and the Seattle Skyline. It would be a great place to dine at night. The restaurant is on the second story of a building - there is an elevator and it worked fine during my visit. There was a little confusion initially upon our arrival and we were sent to the first floor incorrectly. They realized their mistake and corrected it. There are 60 parking stalls. Parking is paid in this lot. There's also back-in, angled stalls along Fairview and Fairview N. has limited parallel parking also paid. City spots are free after 6pm and on Sundays. Duke's does not validate parking. They offer indoor and outdoor dining, however, only service dogs are allowed. The restaurant definitely has an air of fine dining about it. Prices are not quite at the fine dining level, but this is definitely a bit fancy. They offer lunch, dinner, chef's specials, drinks, local wines, a happy hour, desserts, and a kid-friendly menu. You can make reservations via OpenTable. They are open at full capacity and have in-house dining, carry out, and delivery options available. I ordered the fish n' chips along with my usual unsweetened iced tea. Duke's has won awards for its restaurant - deservedly so. The food was delicious. The fish n' chips comes with a 1 or 2-piece option. I found this a bit unusual - I usually see 3 or 4-piece options, though these were pretty decent sized pieces of fish. Service was strong throughout the meal. I will admit it felt just a bit rushed and this did not feel like a place where we were free to linger in conversation or dining. This is a minor quibble, of course, but I'll admit I prefer to linger with a meal, especially with friends or family, and this put a minor dent in the afternoon. I wasn't paying the bill so, I'll confess, I didn't pay much attention to the value issue. I do know this was a bit pricey, but you're paying for a beautiful atmosphere, nicer dining, and high quality fish. I would definitely say it was worth it. I did get my always desired refill. Overall, this is a very solid 4-star experience for me. I enjoyed the meal, the service was professional if not quite personal, and the prices were fair and comparable to other area dining options. While I felt a bit rushed and at times felt like everything was just a bit too formal, I would easily return and would try to get a table closer to the window. As a visitor, that would have been an absolute delight. I kind of feel like when in Seattle that seafood is practically mandatory. Duke's is a terrific place to experience seafood with fantastic seafood options and a fantastic view to complement the meal. read more

I am fairly new to the PNW and I feel very lucky to have come across Duke's. I love everything about these restaurants (only visited South lake Union and Bellevue) the quality of the food, flavor, size portion, ambiance, service. When ever We have friends from out of town or relatives visiting from Texas, this is a must. Reservations are easy too. make( I always call the restaurant, since the reservation app always shows booked for my time choices). We love the out door are at South Lake Union, any time of the day, for lunch or dinner specially at sunsets during the summer. We have tried several entrees, appetizers, chowders, salads, oysters, wines, cocktails even desserts. I also love that you get a 10 or 20 off or other available promotions. My favorite is the crab sandwich with sweet potato fries!!! read more

My daughter and I decided to share a Caesar salad and the Kentucky Bourbon Glazed Wild Salmon. We were not very hungry, but even if we had been I think sharing the dish would have been plenty (see photos for idea of the shared portion). Kudos to the kitchen for splitting the salad and entree and plating individual as if each were a full portion. The salad was fresh and good. It was lite on the dressing which was fine with me. The Salmon was okay. In my opinion the bourbon, brown sugar, and honey glaze was too sweet. And our salmon was a bit over cooked. l did enjoy the potato slices and bed of asparagus that the fish was presented on. I would recommend only if you really like the sweet fish prep.. There were heaters too which but even without, nice atmosphere to eat on the water. The lobster chowder was good! The fish and chips were also really good. Really fresh and cooked perfectly. The fish tacos were pretty good. Was not expecting the size, thought they would come on smaller street style tortillas. Tasted like a fish taco you'd make at home, nothing too special. A little too much sauce which made it messy to eat and gets soggy really quick. The salsa, tartar sauce, and ranch were all really good, tasted house made. Our host and server were all really nice and friendly and service was fast and nice. You get complimentary sourdough with butter. Wooden booth seating, a lot of outdoor seating with water views. SERVICE The hosts were a little quiet compared to the usual warm greeting one would expect, but our server was excellent. FOOD We expected more; more flavor and more food. The fish portion of the fish and chips was rather small (especially for the price) and the same goes for the award-winning clam chowder, which I realized later was missing the bacon. My husband said of the fish n chips, "Not bad. I can see the 4/5 average though." My favorite part of the meal was unexpected: the garnish salad. I almost didn't eat it because it looked underdressed and the apples had browned, but it was a delight! The dressing was vibrant and refreshing against the fried flavors, the apples were crunchy and sweet, and the feta topped it off perfectly. Great views of SLU and amazing food! The combo was amazing and filling, we could've gone without the coco loco prawns but those were also delicious -their sauce is absolutely divine. I didn't like the blueberry lemonade, it was too sweet and I think with the savory taste of the food, water would've sufficed. The deck is very peaceful and compliments your meal perfectly. My partner and I got: Coco loco prawns: pretty good, crispy and the dipping sauce was good. Definitely in the small side, there were only like 5-6 pieces, which for the price is not great. Three dinghy chowder sampler: we got the original, lobster, and seafood flavors. They weren't kidding with the dinghy size though. Each little cup was abt 2 spoonfuls and the spoons could barely fit into the cups. The original chowder flavor was definitely the best out of the three. The seafood had a tomato flavor base that was a little like cioppino. I didn't like the lobster chowder at all. Fish and chips: it only came w 9 pieces of fries!! Maybe it wouldn't look as bad if it didn't come on such a big plate, but it looked really sparse and kind of sad when they put it down on the table. Others at the table got the 2 piece fish and chips and it didn't come with any more fries either. First meal in Seattle and now the bar is set very high! I saw that they had good ratings on Yelp and their menu had crab so decided to give it a try - very satisfied with my choice! We shared the Super Calamari Steak Strips and the Dungeness Crab Dip. Both were delicious, especially the crab dip - great flavor and consistency, but do note that it's rather rich/heavy! Complimentary warm bread with butter was also brought to our table. I had the Crab Cake Patty Duke Sandwich as my main; It was sooooo satisfying! It came with sweet potatoes fries and some kind of spicy aioli. I'm very warily of bland seafood but everything we had here was simply delicious. Reservation was super easy to make via Opentable. Service was attentive and professional, and we did not feel rushed at all. The back patio had a great view of the water. This was one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in a while! My husband and I went here for a quick lunch when we were in the area. We were greeted by friendly staff and sat right away. The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant was so cool, there was a lot of really great details. We ordered a few drinks and apps to split- we got a Caesar salad, the maple bacon seafood bites, coco loco shrimp, and the Dungeness crab dip. Everything was really tasty, especially the coconut shrimp and maple bacon seafood bites! To drink we got a blueberry lemon drop and a long island iced tea. Had an early dinner at Duke's with my mom today and had a very nice experience. The restaurant was busy but the hostess was able to get us a table right away. A very kind staff member also took the time to show my mother where the restroom was--actually walked with her until she found it, which I really appreciated. Our seating was at sunset, and there was a beautiful view of Lake Union from our table. Our server seemed hurried at first, but I quickly realized he was just busy being thorough and attentive to what was probably a lot of tables for him--including ours. Service was fast, well coordinated and we were checked on several times. We never were without something, and he was very kind and friendly. It was perfect! One of my favorite things about Duke's is their yummy sourdough bread, which my mom enjoyed as well. We both ordered the fish and chips--served Northwest style, not English as she prefers, but still good--and shared a salad. I also had a cup of their clam chowder, which was thick and creamy. Not my favorite style, but again, it is more Northwest-geared, which it should be, since we are here in the Northwest after all. My mother also had a cider and I got a coffee, which was lukewarm. The only reason I'm not giving the experience 5-stars is because our total came to $100 before tip! (I have read some other recent reviews that said their tip was included in the price...I did not notice that, as there was a tip line, so hopefully I did not over tip! If it actually was $80 and tip was included, then I feel a little bit better about the price being so high.) Regardless, $50 bucks a plate for cod and chips, a coffee, a $5.75 can of cider and a side salad is about what I paid the other night at Cafe Campagne--a very nice restaurant--for two lovely French entrees and bottle of wine. So, $100 at Duke's--AND--just to poke the bear (me) just a little more, you have to pay $9 for parking there! In their own private lot, mind you! Outrageous! If you can separate the restaurant experience from the cost/value of the experience, it was really lovely time and we will go back again. But if the cost sours you on this restaurant, it should! They have no business charging those prices--AND PARKING! (If you want to save yourself some dough, you can hop up to the Bait Shop on Capitol Hill. No sunset patio and water view, but our same meal there would have cost $63 and would be just as tasty). Anyway I do like Dukes, and the SERVICE AND STAFF WERE WONDERFUL!! Very cool atmosphere and indoor seating! There is outdoor seating with heat lamps and amazing views of the water and boats! The bread is to die for ...no joke, get three plates of it. The award winning clam chowder was probably the best calm chowder I've had in Seattle! I am from the Northeast and it take a lot for chowder to blow my mind and this did just that. We got the berry dessert and I highly recommend it. Request Gustavo, he was the server we had and he made our experience truly special. The only reason I didn't give Duke's a five star rating is due to some of their prices and the average crab dip. A few dishes seemed over priced.
