The Award Winning Clam Chowder was definitely top-notch. I also tried the Lobster Mobster Pernod chowder, and it was good but I think the Clam Chowder is the better of the two. Their fish and chips is great. I also had scallop ravioli on another visit, and I enjoyed it but if I came back I'd go with the fish and chips again, or try another special. Service was awesome. Never had to ask for a refill, they were right there making sure we had what we needed, and yet they weren't overly smothering. And it's a restaurant right on Lake Union, where you can watch the boats and listen to the water. I wish I had been there in the summertime, so I could enjoy sitting outdoors. read more

My senior citizen parents have been careful on dining out and are only comfortable dining at spots with outdoor areas. Despite it being a chilly winter weekday afternoon, Duke's had their outdoor covered deck open with heaters, blankets, and a beautiful view. I had a delightful lunch here with my parents and we shared clam steamers, cioppino, fish and chips, and a dungeness crab dip. The food was good and the service was friendly and prompt. We recently moved here from San Diego and Dukes was the first place we stopped to eat. The Salmon Pasta was amazing! 10/10 would recommend. I had a friend visiting so I took her here along with my husband for dinner. Great ambiance, friendly service and I highly recommend signing up for their email club before coming for some discounts/freebies! We snagged some last minute reservations so we weren't able to get the outdoor patio seating which overlooks the water. At night it's really pretty and they have heat lamps and blankets. The indoor ambiance is nice, they have a large bar and lots of booth tables. We got the clam chowder which was delicious, the crab cakes that everyone raves about and cioppino which was loaded with seafood. Duke's is a local seafood chain and this one is located on Lake Union. You get a really nice view of all the action on the water such as small olanes taking off and landing, kayakers, boaters. It's also close to a waterfront park and a museum. The service was very pleasant. The options were pretty good. I would have preferred more seafood options that were fried/breaded. My Parmesan Halibut was delicious. The fish and chips that my son and stepdad ordered were okay. The fish was good but the breading wasn't a batter, it was more like a fish stick breading. Not a win. Mom enjoyed her clam chowder, which I tried, and that was good with lots of little pieces of clam, just a tad salty. For dessert I tried the carrot cake which was delicious. My friends and I came in for lunch and I had the Alaska salmon sliders and small lobster chowder. The sliders were unlike the mini burgers that I'm familiar with - it's like toasted slices of baguette topped with a big piece of cooked salmon. It was seasoned just right and I liked it a lot. It was pretty filling too. I also enjoyed the lobster chowder - I prefer it with less salt though. It's interesting how I thought the sweet potato was in the chowder in place of potato, but it seems like the sweet potato was used to thicken the soup in natural way. The waiter made effort to check in on us every so often but the delivery of his words was not so friendly - especially when we asked for a cocktail in advance for a friend who was on his way and the waiter had to decline because of the state law (we weren't aware of the rule at the time). read more

Good food, beautiful atmosphere (especially if you sit out on the deck) and good service. Duke's can get really crowded on certain days at certain times, so a reservation is recommended. You also can ask for particular seating at that time, which we did. We were given a table on the outside deck overlooking the lake. Beautiful view - but make sure to wear your sunglasses if you're seated facing the west. The sun glaring in your eyes can be overwhelming. We had a crab un-cake for an appetizer, followed by the mixed grill, Thai halibut and mango cod. The halibut was especially tasty, in fact. All choices were very good, albeit a tad expensive. The mixed grill had a variety of seafood that was all delicious. The mango cod that someone else in our party had looked absolutely delectable. It was surely enjoyed! We walked to Duke's rather than take a car, because parking can be scarce here (saw it with my own eyes to confirm that). It wasn't that far a walk from where we were staying in South Lake Union, especially since we had beautiful weather. I'm glad we didn't take the car, and others might want to consider parking elsewhere and walking to Duke's. read more

Came to Duke's Seafood as I got in super late to Seattle and it was the only option close to my hotel that was also open late that I knew was certified good based on my visits to other Duke's Seafood locations. Since I wasn't paying for this meal, I completely went for it with the Dungeness Crab "Un"Cake, small bowl of Award Winning Clam Chowder, and the Dungeness Crab Stuffed Just For The Halibut. I mean, all of it was fire, but man that crab-stuffed halibut...woooooof! Food should not be that good! Service was great, no complains from me. Only drawback, as with all Duke's Seafood locations and why I'll never rate them five stars, is that their prices are SKY HIGH relative to comparable food at other restaurants. But as I have already said, Duke's is definitely a place I've gone to before and wouldn't mind stopping by if there's nothing else available. Always solid. read more

My Parmesan crusted Halibut was overcooked and I'd bet the price of the meal was pre-prepared and frozen before it ever arrived at the restaurant. For someone as indecisive as me, I am glad they offered "dinghy" sized chowders so that I was able to sample them all. The classic Award Winning Clam Chowder was delicious and bacon flavor heavy, the Lobster Mobster Pernod Chowder was surprisingly sweet, and the North by Northwest Seafood Chowder (tomato based) was probably my favorite. Came for happy hour and I have to say they have a very extensive HH menu. Duke's also overlooks Lake Union so there's a really nice view. There's maybe 4-5 spot for free street parking but Duke's also has a lot (although you have to pay for it - no validation given). I ordered the Duke cheeseburger and it was a pretty solid cheeseburger. It comes with potato wedges which were slightly salty but good. If I want to have seafood in Seattle, You can bet I'll be going to Palisade's instead. Honestly I was seriously disappointed. Heard about Duke's from Netflix's Locke and Key, and was excited to learn that they were an actual restaurant. Atmosphere is as expected, leaning heavily into the seafood theme. The water front view doesn't hurt either. Made reservations for both my wife and I and we were seated promptly. That being said our waiter was incredibly inattentive. We had to ask for waters to be refilled, they never clarified the payment process, and it wasn't until the very end of our meal that we realized that we were never given any bread at the beginning when we saw every other table and bar was given bread. But it was the food that truly left something to be desired especially considering the exorbitant prices. Firstly the Crab "Uncake" could use a lot of work with plating. The crab cake is a decent size, but only comes with 1 cake sitting alone on a huge serving plate with some aioli dressed in a straight line. The huge plate makes it look empty and unimpressive. Flavors were decent and there was a lot of crab, but for the price I really would expect a little more. Both my wife and I ordered the fish and chips, but I got mine with a side of their "Famous" Clam Chowder. The fry on the fish is honestly the only positive experience. It's amazing, great crisp while the fish is still moist inside. But that is where the positives end. The side salad is truly truly pathetic. Overly dressed for such a tiny salad, with lettuce leaves that appear to be wilting, and topped with 2 slices of all-spiced apple cubes. The apple is such a weird touch, they look old and bruised and the all spice is a weird seasoning to pair with the Caesar salad. The disappointments don't stop there, as the "Famous" clam chowder, was flavorful but honestly only included maybe 3-4 measly chunks of clam and the remainder was potato or other filling. read more

It was a nice setting, we sat outside near the water and had the heater on us plus gave us blankets. We ordered the scallop ravioli, chowder sampler (lobster and original) and a dessert. Everything was good, but not amazing. Like I would come back but just wouldn't run back to eat here as a first choice. I would say it was flavorful but bland which may not make sense but most things could have been a little more seasoned. You could tell the concept but not quite over the top for me. While pricey, the food was absolutely incredible. Their crab cakes are decadent and the best I've ever had. Their summer specials make use of local produce, like snap peas, and is just so fresh. The seafood dishes are covered in cheese and cream and a lot of butter. In Seattle where seafood should be fresh, this old school seafood restaurant could use a menu face lift. I watched and read the origins story of this restaurant and maybe the cooks need to dial back to the basics. I know as cooking goes, the more often a recipe is used and followed, it gets skewed with over indulgence. I also ordered the oysters which were not fresh. Half the oysters were bad. The server said he would not charge us but charged us anyway. The colleague paying for the meal mentioned it to him and corrected the bill. My favorite meal during a weeklong vacation in Seattle. Made reservations a week before and were seated out on the patio with our private dining area to the side. The view is the best as you get to see the sea planes take off and land. We had 5:30 reservations so we were able to catch the last part of happy hour. They have a nice kid's menu and the highlights were the salmon burger, crab cake and fried salmon bites (could eat so many more of those!) Our waitress was thoughtful and got our kid's orders first. Great food, great views and good service. We had a reservation and waited about 10 minutes before being seated. Service was decent but on the slower side. Bread was delivered after we ordered. Warm sourdough and it was good. We also ordered the blackberry margaritas - yummy. Two of us ordered the seafood pesto cream sauce linguini special and it was superb. It included loads of mushrooms, and small amounts of each: shrimp, crab, salmon and cod and really was delicious. Randy ordered the crab stuffed shrimp and loved it. Corina ordered the scallop dish with pumpkin mascarpone stuffed ravioli and it was also amazing. We started with a Caesar salad to share and it was so fresh and great dressing. One person in our party got a Bibb salad that was surprisingly small for the price. The restaurant prices are pretty high for the portion sizes but the food was amazing so knowing what we know, we'll be back when we're in the area. Just couldn't give it 5 stars because of the prices/portion sizes. We don't usually have a problem paying for a good meal but this was over the top. Duke's was a chowerdful revelation for me during a recent visit to Seattle. There are plenty of great seafood spots to choose from, but Duke's is now among my favorites. Their service was super friendly and helpful with all the questions we had. Quick with a refill of their amazing sourdough bread and the Seattle Soda company drinks too! Expect a wait if you don't have reservations, but they seat people pretty quick and nearly every seat has amazing views of Lake Union. They keep the ambiance a bit dimly lit so that you can enjoy the views and lights across the lake. We went for the chowders, but stayed for all the other amazing dishes. I don't have pics of all the chowders we tried, but they really hit the spot on a cold, rainy PNW evening. Recommend the award-winning classic chowder as well as the Lobster Mobster chowder. My wife went for the crab-stuffed halibut, which was delicious. I had a two spot of the Alaskan Rockfish tacos, which were massive. Super tasty with a sweetness to them.
