I ate here for the first time for lunch on 09/13/2023 with a party of three at about 1pm without a reservation. First of all, the absolutey stunning views from this restaurant are spectacular. It overlooks Lake Union; however, is not far at all from Queen Anne and Downtown. Our server was very attentive and the entire staff worked very well together. For lunch, I had the Off the Hook Stuffed Salmon. It was priced appropriately for what you would expect from a seafood restaurant. It was a pretty sizeable portion, and it was absolutely delicious. The salmon was cooked to perfection and was stuffed with crab, shrimp, cheese and a lemon blanc sauce. YUM! It was a beautiful day, and even though we sat inside the views made me imagine I was sitting outside. I would definitely return to Duke's again. read more

Unfortunately I hear those songs all the time on a loop at grocery stores I shop and work at (also didn't love that the music got even louder in the bathroom like a fred meyers). I had a really wonderful experience here! I met with two longtime friends for a reunion of sorts and it was just the perfect setting on the patio on a summer night. I decided to go with the three course dinner as it seemed like a good value. I ended up choosing the lobster chowder, sweet caper spinach salad, and crab un-cake. Everything was SO GOOD! They weren't lying about their crab cakes being more crab, less cake- it felt like a generous amount of crab. And the potatoes and sauce that it was served with really completed the dish well! Over all I was very pleased and felt quite full when I was finished. Sometimes with these pricier restaurants I genuinely wonder if I'll feel satisfied when I'm done or still a bit hungry, but it was the perfect amount. The only thing I could've gone with or without was the grapefruit cocktail. It did taste quite good but it seemed quite small for $13. I live on a budget so this was quite expensive for me ($72 after tax and tip) but I didn't regret it at all and I'd gladly eat here again. read more

Came for late night happy hour on a Saturday night. The menu is expansive and everything is incredible. The views are also gorgeous - right on the water. Complimentary sourdough bread and butter. The portions were not huge, which was kind of good. Few dollars off all these prices for HH: -Dungeness Crab "Un" Cake ($19.90) - So much crab in this. Really crispy and buttery and yummy. -Blackened Halibut Quesadilla ($18.90) - SO good! The wasabi aioli is so unique. -Crabby Deviled Egg ($7.90) - love deviled eggs, and crab. The service was amazing. Even though our server had a number of other tables, we felt that we had our own guide. She was helpful and went above and beyond. The food was great. We started with a Caesar salad which we split. Then I had the stuffed halibut while my husband had the stuffed salmon. We each enjoyed our dish. We ended the evening with the vanilla ice cream which was really good after a big meal. We were seated by a window which was lovely to look out. We went as a party of 4 last night. Our service was tragically non existent. Rude and rushed waiter with a terrible attitude that would roll his eyes at a basic request. This is after waiting for him to take out order, or check in with us. At one point I waited over 15 minutes to get a basic water refill. The only thing that arrived in a timely manner was the chowder. Fish and cups that my wife ordered were cold. Absolutely amazing! I had an overnight layover in Seattle. I arrived late so I didn't get to do the touristy things I wanted to. But I looked for the best seafood I could find. And I think I found it. I started off with a salad which was absolutely delicious. Then I had the double dinghy where I was able to try two of the chowders. I had the classic clam and the Monster lobster. Man, I'm sure that was the best clam chowder in the states. So flavorful and hearty. And the seafood mixed grill dish topped it all off. We visited Duke's Chowder House on South Lake Union for my friend's birthday dinner after hearing great things and were excited to enjoy the seafood and waterfront views. The views of SLU were iconic! The fresh schucked oysters, fried calamari, and steamed clams were prepared well and very flavorful, though the portions felt a bit small for the price. The creative accoutrements with the oysters were an interesting touch, though a classic shallot mignonette, horseradish or more more lemon might have paired better with the oysters than the flavorless cucumber shaved ice and Bloody Mary mix cocktail sauce. Unfortunately, the service really didn't live up to expectations. I worked in restaraunts for 20 years and I don't usually complain about service, but this experience was very frustrating for me...We waited over 10 minutes to be greeted and given water, and after waiting patiently to be greeted our waitress was very aloof and inattentive. She was nowhere to be found when the food arrived, and failed to "check back" in a timely manner. I wanted another glass of wine and my guest wanted Tabasco and lemon but we were not given the opportunity to order anything additional in a timely manner from our waitress. At times, we had to rely on another staff member for simple requests like water refills, and at one point, we even refilled our own glasses. We had planned to stay for entrées, wine and birthday dessert, but ultimately decided to leave after appetizers due to the very slow, inattentive service. We know that one experience doesn't define a restaurant, and given Duke's strong reputation, we'd love to come back and have the kind of visit so many of our friends have raved about, but that is unlikely after the service we received this evening. Super disappointing, but luckily there was another seafood restaurant in short walking distance that made up for the bad start to my dear friend's birthday dinner. read more

Oh my goodness. I was in Seattle for 3 days, guess where I ate 3 days in a row? HAHA. Yes, I was at Duke's Seafood for 3 days straight--it was that good. Props to Willow for being my server for two of the nights in a row, you are really great! :D And I apologize I did not get my server's name for the third day (sorry!) -- but you were great too. All the staff here are super friendly and nice, and overall make for a great experience. Onto the food.. first off. Sourdough, I love you so much. The sourdough here does not seem like a traditional sourdough--its like sourdough and french bread made a baby, a baby that belongs in my mouth with the delicious cube of butter they provide with your bread. It is piping hot sourdough that is fluffy, moist, and melts in your mouth. I could live off this stuff. My first day I got: Pope's Cioppino - this was good, but it is a LOT of fish (three kinds in fact), and have shrimp. I wish this came with some other shellfish like clams or mussels, and it was almost too much fish for me. The carrots were oddly unevenly chopped too, some were huge chunks and some were little bits. This was also topped with dungeoness crab meat! Coconut Shrimp - yes I forget the exact name, but I appreciate this was butterflies and delicious with the sweet chili dipping sauce. Second day I got: Coconut Shrimp (yes, again) Calamari - delicious with two different dipping sauces. Perfectly battered with a little bit of chew. Manila clams (special) - sooo good in the garlic white wine sauce! Mixed seafood grill - the shrimp and scallops were perfectly grilled, and the crab cake was delicious too. Oysters - got a set of 3 oysters, can't remember which ones, but they were good and sweet (they were out of Kumomoto) Third day: Clam chowder - yay finally got to try it! SO GOOD, it tastes home made (obviously) and full of flavor and chunky goodness. Wild mixed greens - their candied pecans and apples (are they pickled) were soo good. I don't like salad often, but this is the best you can get. Comments: I do understand that the dungeoness crab meat is picked from the shell, but I got bits of shell in my cioppino and my crab cake (I understand, it happens). Also, whoever is shucking the oyster is leaving remnants of the top shell along the edge.. I have shucked a lot of oysters in my life, but these were crunchier than they should be. Overall, the food was great, enough that I came for THREE trips! Will I be back if I ever come back to Seattle? Most definitely, I can live off their sourdough alone! Until next time.. read more

This is a good Dick's Seafood location. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant has a great view of Seattle and great atmosphere. I ordered two variations of chowder, and the mix grill combo. The mixed grill combo contained a crabcake, scallops, and shrimp. The chowders I ordered were the seafood and lobster chowders, the lobster chowder was amazing. I wasn't very impressed with the seafood chowder. Thus far I've had three chowders from Duke's, and the clam chowder and lobster chowder are phenomenal. My mixed grill entrée was good, but this is the second time I've tried the crabcake, and I still wasn't very impressed. I grew up on the East Coast and have eaten crabcakes my entire life. Duke's crabcake is advertised the best crabcake in Seattle, with very little filler. In my opinion, it's quite breaded (has a lot of filler) and doesn't have a lot of flavor. Seated outdoors in early June for dinner (overcast, 67°) and outdoor space heater out of order. Parking is not free though they appear to have a private parking lot. $20 for 2-3 hours. Server was very pleasant and offered to try to get the space heater turned on. 15 minutes later, the heater failed to turn on so he brought a portable space heater and placed it on the other side of the table (because that's where the outlet was located). Thoughtful but not effective. He brought out a blanket after being told neither heater was helpful. The "tureen" of clam chowder was served in a shallow bowl - one where what might've started out as hot soup quickly cooled due to being outdoors and non-functioning heaters. The other server didn't seem sure why our table of four asked for 4 bowls and an extra spoon (one of our place settings was missing a spoon). We weren't going to be eating out of the same tureen. Clam chowder was cold and very salty. Sid Rod sourdough bread came out after we finished the cl chowder - but before we finished the crab dip. Would've preferred bread while waiting for appetizers. Crab dip is flavorful but also salty. At least it was warm and that was appreciated. Stuffed halibut and salmon were enjoyable - perfectly cooked, actually warm. The red potatoes and asparagus were well seasoned and also perfectly cooked. We enjoyed these dishes. The crab cake entree was served ata good temperature and lightly breaded as the server promised. Still quite salty. Serving staff are friendly, pleasant, and professional. Helpful as they could be given they were busy. They can't help that the outdoor space heater was malfunctioning. Restaurant was too busy for us to be seated elsewhere and we didn't want to bother the staff who already appeared quite pre-occupied. If given the option, This reviewer would not come back. The experience wasn't what I expected given the current Yelp ratings and reviews. Poor value overall. The pricey parking, cold soup and busy staff wasn't the Duke Seafood experience expected. read more

Stopped by at Dukes when we were staying across the street at Silver Cloud through a friend's recommendation. It was a great lunch spot, delicious bread to start and amazing clam chowder selection. My fiancé got the ciopinno and really enjoyed the heartiness of it and savored it in a bread bowl. I went with the classic style and was not disappointed. Of course we had to get some oysters for the table too. All was fresh and delicious. Great service and loved the view of the lake! read more

It is a little pricier than I would have expected, but given the location on the lake it's probably typical. Our meal got started off with some bread, which was nice. We ordered a variety of oysters and these were all really good! The oysters tasted fresh and not too "ocean-y." I got the crab cake sandwich and this was so good! The crab cake was meaty, and all the flavors I'd the sandwich were really balanced. It came with a side of sweet potato fries which were delicious - probably the best sweet potato fries I've had in a while. I think this is a great spot to take visitors or to come with family. AMAZING!!! Went in today after being out on the water. Everything was perfect, the service, the style, the view, and the food. We ordered the steamed clams as an appetizer and it was so buttery and delicious. My partner got the crab cake sandwich with the sweet potato fries, i don't even normally like sweet potato fries but these were so good. The sandwich was a little soft for me but i'm a big texture person and it was still good. I got the Stuffed salmon but with jojos instead of veggies and i'm so glad i did because it was fabulous. It was expensive, but it was stupid delicious, fresh, and served right on the gorgeous Seattle waterfront. My guests and I had the crab cake sandwich combo (on brioche, with bacon and a lobster chowder side), macadamia halibut (with hazelnut buerre blanc, and fingerling potatoes and zucchini sides), and seafood cioppino (with crab, prawns, and 3 kinds of fish). The table split a single crab cake with a citrusy aioli to start - good lord, a $20 app came with ONE crab cake - and I had a $13 mai tai that disappeared in less than 5 minutes. On the whole we ate very well. There was great lobster flavor in the rich chowder - we debated whether pepper or acid would've made it more balanced - and we ate two loaves of the freshly baked sourdough bread. As befits fresh seafood, everything got only a quick cook, keeping the freshness intact throughout. I appreciated that the sides on my halibut were dictated not by the menu, but by the quality of the available ingredients. Our waitress, Ciarra, was the right amount of attentive, and perfectly knowledgeable. Parking, annoyingly, was a separate fee, coming to $6 at lunchtime on a Saturday. Our bill came to $150 pre-tip for 1 drink, 1 app, and 3 entrees, which, when compared to the portion size, is mind boggling. read more

Seafood restaurant on the southeastern shores of Lake Union. This review is for a delivery order. Got the halibut quesadillas to start. The halibut pieces are small to fit inside a quesadilla, but they are still chunky and easily fall out of the quesadilla. The fish is mild tasting, with a light, zesty citrus-y salsa/pico mix. Tasted decent enough. Also came with chips and a mild green salsa. For mains, got the combo with a small cup of lobster mobster chowder and the crab cake sandwich. Not sure if the lobster chowder has lobster or Argentine shrimp, but it has that a heavier flavor than a clam chowder. My favorite was the crab cake sandwich. The buns are nice, and the crab cake is thick and full of soft crab meat. Vast majority of the crab cake was crab meat, and not much filler. Pretty tasty. The sandwich came with sweet potato fries which I liked. The fries went a bit soft, but probably due to being in the delivery bag so won't ding the restaurant for it. Overall I enjoyed the food and definitely got my fill of seafood for the day. Total was $55 which isn't cheap, but it's seafood from a mid-end restaurant so not unreasonable. read more

The Award Winning Clam Chowder was definitely top-notch. I also tried the Lobster Mobster Pernod chowder, and it was good but I think the Clam Chowder is the better of the two. Their fish and chips is great. I also had scallop ravioli on another visit, and I enjoyed it but if I came back I'd go with the fish and chips again, or try another special. Service was awesome. Never had to ask for a refill, they were right there making sure we had what we needed, and yet they weren't overly smothering. And it's a restaurant right on Lake Union, where you can watch the boats and listen to the water. I wish I had been there in the summertime, so I could enjoy sitting outdoors. read more

My senior citizen parents have been careful on dining out and are only comfortable dining at spots with outdoor areas. Despite it being a chilly winter weekday afternoon, Duke's had their outdoor covered deck open with heaters, blankets, and a beautiful view. I had a delightful lunch here with my parents and we shared clam steamers, cioppino, fish and chips, and a dungeness crab dip. The food was good and the service was friendly and prompt.
