Finally a late night bar restaurant on Burlingame Ave! Looking for a fun date night spot that stays open late, has good cocktails and food. Stepped into Dumpling Kitchen and Bar and decided to take two seats at the bar. Greeted by the Owner, Jimmy who was friendly and inviting . We ordered a couple cocktails from the menu, which were very good and since we were there after 9:30 pm on a Friday night they were BOGO free! Ordered the trumpet mushroom appetizer and the pan fried dumplings. Both dishes were SO good. It is difficult to find pan fried dumplings that the outer dough is not too thick and the inside is tender with the perfect amount of soup inside. This hit all the marks. We were able to try the sesame balls with red bean which were delicious. We came for a light snack and one drink since we had already ate a full dinner at home but we couldn't resist ordering the XLB- Tom Yum (red color in photos) and the traditional XLB Jimmy said we must try. He was right! The XLB was one of the best I've ever had and we seek this out in any restaurant here or when we travel to Asia. They say they close at 9:30 but they wouldn't let us order at 9pm. It was false advertising.

We came here on a Sunday afternoon and we got a table outside. It was very nice. The restaurant looks very clean and the service is very good. He ordered the fish and mushroom dumplings and the seafood dumpling. I have to say the dumplings were quite filled and very juicy and very flavorful. I've had other dumplings in SF and they were less filling. We also had the chongquin noodles. They were very tasty, but it was not accurate to the description. ( no bok Choi and pickled mustard greens). However, the picture of the dish in the menu is accurate to what is actually served. ( with 2 pieces of broccoli and a couple of sliced carrots). It was super spicy but very good and the soup actually was very flavorful. I actually thought it was so flavorful that I was dipping my dumplings in the soup. There are many options for having dumplings in San Mateo in Burlington. They also had other dim sum items as well to try. Would definitely come again. Dumplings were excellent but definitely priced for Burlingame, meaning more expensive than their spot on Irving. In a pinch it gets you a great dumpling fix, but if you're looking for value there are some great options all over the peninsula. -1 star for price vs value. read more

We got the mustard shrimp (so delicious + our favorite thing) the union soup dumplings, the wagyu dumplings and the miso! In my opinion, none of the dishes were a miss!!! They were all really good and the service was so good! Favourable and ideal location .Had no reservation but we were lucky enough to get a table. The hot and sour soup was good , the scallion pancake had not much of stuffing inside, the fish dim sum was very dry , the mapo tofu dim sum were little spicy but flavourful, the chicken dim sum were just right but the crust was dry from the ends ,the noodles were good but the broth was really spicy . If I could go this new restaurant 10 stars, I would. I had the bacon wrapped asparagus. It was out of this world then I had the dumplings, and of course they were perfectly juicy fresh and delicious. Each dish was amazing! I could go on, but I don't wanna make this review too long I recommend you try it for yourself. The bar amazing the bartender was super fast the servers and the staff warm, welcoming, kind, and full of kindness and joy it was incredible. I totally love this place and we'll go back. read more

Was never notified about our table being open, and ended up walking in and getting a table. We had seafood dumplings in a wonderful clear chicken broth. It was very tasty. Then we shared some mustard shrimp. They were lightly fried in a crispy tempura like coating. They were served on tortilla chips with dollops of spicy sweet mustard. They were beautifully presented and very delicious. The Jasmin tea was loose leaf. Very good. Our waiter was so nice and helpful. The only downside - the acoustics; I am hard of hearing and the restaurant was loud. However, that has been true of every restaurant that has occupied this space. read more

Finally a great dumpling restaurant in Burlingame! What a treat! The dumplings were freshly made and delicious; I haven't had soup dumplings this good since I've been in Taipei - so tasty. We ate traditional dumplings like the seafood and shrimp ones which were really really good. Never have I seen a Mapo Tofu one before - it was great.Had the pan fried version of the vegetarian dumpling - was like a fresh pot sticker - so tasty. Didn't try the noodles or the scallion pancakes but watched them go by to our neighbors in the restaurant and desperately wanted them. The ship and okra also looked really good as well. Didn't have a bad dish at all. The staff was really friendly and helpful - just a great experience all around. Go now because in three months, it's going to take a month to get a reservation it's that good. read more
