Came here with my husband on a Friday night around 6PM and was seated pretty quickly. It was pretty busy as the only seating available was at the bar, but we didn't mind! If you're craving DTF garlic green beans but don't want to drive down to Valley Fair, this is a great alternative Steamed Soup + Thai Tom Yum XLB: Dumplings were juicy, and flavor was definitely there BUT the skin/dough was so thin that we ended up breaking a lot of them :( Sort of frustrating! Pork Pan Fried Buns: One of my favorite dishes of the night! Be sure to eat them like a XLB since they're so juicy and the inside can be hot. Definitely try it with some of the vinegar and chili oil. Braised Beef Noodle Soup: Ordered this on a whim and surprisingly really enjoyed this dish! We typically don't order soups when we primarily go for dumplings, but this hit the spot especially on a chili night. BBQ Pork Bun: A staple! Love the bun itself but felt like there could have been more filling / bigger pieces of protein in the filling. Sichuan Hot and Spicy Dumplings: I'm personally not the biggest fan of Sichuan, but my husband really enjoyed this one. I really wanted to love this place. It has a relaxed, casual vibe, and the service was genuinely excellent. But unfortunately, the food just didn't quite meet expectations. I'm giving three stars mostly for the wonderful service. I ordered takeout and the staff were super friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated. But the dim sum just didn't hit the mark for me, it doesn't taste like authentic Chinese dim sum. I went with what I thought were safe picks: the pan-fried buns and popcorn chicken. Sadly, the buns were thick and doughy, not much flavor, and not crispy at all. The popcorn chicken had decent seasoning, but it was soft and kind of soggy, which was a letdown. As a non-Chinese person i find it very intimidating to go to a dumpling place , however we are on a mission to try every restaurant in Burlingame downtown and decided to give Dk&b a try This restaurant was a winner for us and I definitely see us returning. Everything we ordered was tasty! Our 4yo loved the scallion pancakes and chicken dumplings! We enjoyed the hot and sour soup, pumpkin dumplings and kung pao chicken dumplings. Crystal shrimp dumpling: comes in 3, so good that my fiancée ate all 3 by himself, I trust it was amazing! Beef noodle soup: 10/10 authentic taste, so flavorful, the beef was so tender! My favorite dish here! Pork potstickers: comes in 6, each potsticker is rather generous in size but a little underwhelming in terms of flavor. Came here with some friends on a Tuesday evening. Walked in around 6:30pm and was seated promptly. I was a bit taken aback by the menu cost but I guess that's normal for Burlingame. We ordered following: Cucumber salad 2/4: It was crunchy and a decent portion (not huge!) but it was waaay to salty. XLB 3/4: Got the standard pork since you always need a baseline. It was very juicy and it was good but I can't wrap my head around $2 per dumpling! Pan fried pork dumpling 3/4: Again, this was a great dumpling that was so juicy that when you bite it the soup squirts across the table. Oops! Sorry friend! But $3 a dumpling?! Scallion green onion noodle 3/4: Tasty basic no frills noodle. The al dente of the noodle was great. Again, I couldn't wrap my head around the price for the amount of food we got. Overall, if you're into a scene and you want to order a lot or don't mind leaving a bit hungry to get boba or ice cream somewhere else after it's a good spot. I don't think I'll be stopping in again cuz I can find other places that will give me a little bit more bang for my buck but hey, that's just me. Giving it 4 stars cuz they had some tasty dishes and the service was good. They finally lowered the music a couple of notches once the place started to empty out. Yay! Finally, dumplings come to Burlingame Ave with dog friendly, outdoor seating! First time we have tried this restaurant, though they mentioned they have a location in SF sunset. We tried the Mapo Tofu style dumpling - it was very spicy and my lips are still tingling while I writing this review! Great for folks that like their dumplings spicy! We will try the Tom Yum version next time. Ordering soup dumplings are always risky to me because I am fussy about the skin thickness, how they are folded, the skin:meat ratio and soup flavor... I'm a XLB snob and proud of it. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the XLB here! I'd say it is one of the best in the Bay Area. The menu items were generally Bay Area pricing - with one exception, the crispy oyster mushroom, which was $16 for what I can only describe as overpriced, shaved mushroom stick chips that one would normally see as a topping on a dish vs a $16 standalone appetizer. We didn't know what to expect but definitely felt it was overpriced for what showed up. Service team is super friendly and attentive, suggesting items to try and frequently checked on us. That said, the restaurant itself has a modern, inviting ambiance--clean, bright, and located in a lively part of town. We were warmly greeted and seated right away, which was a pleasant surprise considering how busy it was. Shortly after sitting down, we were served water along with charming soup spoons and utensils that added a nice touch of personality to the table setting. There's a full bar along one side of the restaurant--great for solo diners or those wanting to enjoy a cocktail, glass of wine, or beer with their meal. The vibe felt casual yet refined, making it a comfortable spot for both quick lunches and relaxed gatherings. Here's what we ordered: Braised Beef Noodle Soup - This was hands down our favorite dish. The beef was exceptionally tender, and the broth had a deep, comforting flavor without being too salty or heavy. It was hearty and satisfying. Sichuan Hot Spicy Dumplings (Wontons) - These had a lovely balance of heat and sweetness, with distinctive spices reminiscent of Chongqing-style flavors. Not overly spicy, but flavorful and addictive. Steamed Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) - These were decent. The meat filling was juicy with a nice texture, and the soup inside was warm and flavorful. However, the dumpling skin was a bit thicker than we prefer. Pork Pan-Fried Buns - Tasty, with a juicy soup center that bursts in your mouth. Unfortunately, the bun's exterior was quite thick and dense--possibly overcooked--so it didn't pair as well with the delicate filling. Probably our least favorite of the bunch. Prices were reasonable for the area, though the portion sizes are on the smaller side, so ordering a few dishes to share is ideal. Overall, we had a very pleasant lunch experience. Beautiful bar area and they even have tables outside if you wish to enjoy the warm Burlingame weather. I think this place is a step above a lot of the hole in the wall dumpling spots in SF that you find in the avenues. Now you might wonder if it can contend with quality and pricing. I've had enough dim sum throughout SF to solidly say that it most definitely can and it certainly does. This family does have a few SF spots as well. We ordered the pork potstickers, vegetable potstickers, secret chicken wings, cucumber salad, steamed pork buns, and the cucumber steak wrap. Everything was honestly terrific. Potstickers were some of the best I've ever had. The cucumber steak wrap was wrapped in green onion pancake and was excellent. They have cocktails, beer, and wine which I thought was great. Most of the dim sum places I've been to don't offer that much variety when it comes to spirits so it was a nice surprise. The staff was friendly and very helpful with helping us pick out things from the menu. The owner, Jim, was also very nice. He made it a point to come over and talk to us even though he was busy himself making dumplings. I think it's nice when the owner of a restaurant still works the line and prepares food sometimes. It's hard work and it says a lot about a chef/cook who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty and work in their own kitchen. Respect. Thank you for a very memorable evening. The XLB had such thin skin that it was a bit difficult trying to pick it up without punching a hole in the skin and losing all the soup, Unfortunately, the filling was just "ok". The fried mushroom strips were good, and very delicate. Very addictive! We definitely did not care for the three flavor boiled dumplings. Seemed like the flavors did not meld well and we wouldn't order again. BUT- as for the pan fried pork buns, they were the absolute best we've ever had. This is one of our favorite dishes and often it can be doughy or not having enough soup inside. These are absolutely PERFECT. I LOVE DUMPLINGS!!!! Pan fried, steamed, soup dumplings... goodness every single time. I also love the onion pancakes and the won ton soup. Every time I've come, service was wonderful. The owner is super friendly and hooked my kids up with the sesame balls for desert- SO good I had to order more to go. It's fairly new but it can get crowded but the wait has never been longer than 10-15 minutes when I've gone. The Pan Fried Dumpling and the Steamed soup dumplings were extremely hot as expected and were good. I read the mixed reviews of the Hot and Sour soup and for myself, I thought it was very good. I spoke to the waiter and was told this was a family owned business. I thought the service was great, the restaurant is set in a great location. We chose the outdoor seating and as for location, it had a nice atmosphere. My wife doesn't eat pork or beef and found that they had an excellent selection of vegetable and chicken options, especially for their dumplings. I asked for a side of bok choy and out server was the sweetest kindest most warm and accommodating. We sat on their covered patio one of the bar stools, noodles veggie with potstickers and steamed dumplings with cucumber salad and broccoli plus onion pancake. I've never liked green beans ... but OMG their aversion of sautéed green beans I became addicted to! Garlicky crunchy slightly kicky with bit of crunchy onion snappy and completely devoured them--hands down the best thing we got--do not miss them, and though beans might not sound exciting, trust me that nobody does them better.
