    Fish and Mushroom dumplings 4/29/26
    Sandy L.

High ceilings and a beautiful bar area make this place stand out right away, it looks great both inside and out, definitely not your typical dumpling spot. At first, I thought it leaned more toward a fusion American style, but after trying a few dishes, I'd say it's not 100% authentic, yet still pretty close. The pork soup XLB was really tasty, you can tell the meat is high quality with no "porky" taste, and the broth is light with a subtle sweetness. The popcorn chicken was a bit bland, but very meaty with a thin, crispy coating, which I liked. The pan-fried buns were juicy, with a nicely cooked, crispy bottom. The braised beef was a bit too soft for my liking and lacked texture. The braised beef noodle soup was decent, the beef pieces were a good size but slightly dry, while the noodles were chewy and well-cooked, though they felt more like spaghetti than traditional noodles. Service really stood out, our server was attentive and welcoming throughout the meal. Also appreciated that they still let us try the seafood dumplings even though they were accidentally cooked incorrectly. Overall, generous portions for the price and excellent service. :)

Had the chongqing noodles Noodle texture is not at all what you would get in authentic chongqing noodles - supposed to be thinner noodle, less chewy. Bakchoi is standard. Carrots were undercooked Peas were also non traditional as the dish usually uses yellow pea, not green pea from frozen bag Soup, to be determined will see if I get a msg reaction today $16 for a low ingredient cost dish is pretty steep, even in Burlingame

Checked out this relatively new dumpling spot. The server was very accommodating and seated my wife and daughter with patience and went through the menu with us with the caveat our fighter had an egg allergy. The dishes were very good and the Dan Dan and Ching Xing noodles were quite spicy so beware if you cannot handle the heat. One of our glasses had a lipstick stain on it but they replaced it quickly.

Came by after a nearby appointment. The beef noodle soup had a solid, flavorful soup and pretty al dente noodles. Wish the beef came with tendons as well. Add in suan cai and I think it would have been a really strong niu rou mian choice. Still good though and would eat this again. The chongqing noodles packed a little too much heat with my health issues lately, but I thought the it was pretty good from what I could taste. The xiao long bao was surprisingly good. Skin wasn't too soggy, good amount of soup, meat wasn't too fatty. I think they're missing ginger with their vinegar, though. Wagyu dumplings were okay. I'll have to try pork, shrimp and chives next time. All in all, nice to have one Asian option in the sea of Italian here. Now downtown San Mateo needs more Italian in its sea of mostly East Asian restaurants. Friendly and accommodating service. Helpful and attentive, like that new restaurant opening vibe. I was surprised to find out they'd been open a year. I guess it's because I wouldn't think to come to Burlingame for Asian.

I was craving some dumplings and didn't want to go far, so stayed around my neighborhood. Everyone seems to rave about this place so finally tried it. I loved the wagyu dumplings! The family loved the pan fried buns. Service was good, in the end someone asked how we liked our food & made sure we were good. We didn't go inside as it was too nice out and wanted to enjoy the outdoor.

The venue and service were fine but I felt the food was lacking. Nothing really stood out for me based on the price I paid. As for someone who consumes Chinese food often I can say it's not bad but wish it was better to be honest. It's a chill space for lunch and they have a full bar.

4.25 stars. Corner restaurant Dumpling Kitchen & Bar is clean & modern, & a year after its opening, still has that new-restaurant feel. Bar seating is great for solo diners. There are a few patio tables for when the weather warms up. We sat at a two-top inside, which would've been too small had the kitchen not staggered our dishes. We've been here a couple of times now & the dishes worth ordering over & over were the Grapefruit Bacon Asparagus Rolls and Hot & Spicy Dumplings with its mouth-numbing Sichuan sauce. As with all of the dishes we've tried, Har Gow is high quality; loved the plump, flavorful shrimp inside & delicate wrapping. Their Lime Passionfruit sparkling drink is unique & not too sweet. Although sufficiently tasty, a few menu items didn't make the cut our second time 'round: XLB Platter (it had a Tom Yum variety that had an odd, sour taste); both flavors of Chicken Wings, Mustard, as well as Secret Sauce; & Wagyu Dumplings. Date nites are extra delicious at Dumpling Kitchen & Bar.

Just average for the 2 dishes I tried. Beef noodle soup - noodle chewiness was pretty good but cannot withstand prolonged time in the soup if you have leftovers. Soup needed more depth of flavor and a hint more salt. I'm not a fan of broccoli or undercooked carrots in the soup. Pork pan fried buns - comes out piping hot and with lots of soup inside (yay!) so be careful not to burn yourself. Outside bun a little too thick. Inside pork filling was too little and super soft and loose - melt in your mouth but not in an appetizing way. Willing to return to try other dishes next time though!

We visited Dumpling Kitchen & Bar on a Monday evening and got seated with no reservation. The interior looked new and modern, with a large bar. For drinks, I stuck with water but tried a sip of my friend's Lime Passion Fruit beverage, which was delicious! For food, I was a bit limited as a non-pork eater. I ended up getting the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings and Secret Chicken Wings. The Crystal Shrimp Dumplings were very tasty, and came as an order of 3 pieces. I liked the sauce and spice level of the Secret Chicken Wings - definitely a more filling item. I think they could've been a bit saucier though, or maybe come with a dipping sauce on the side. My friend enjoyed their items as well, including the Sichuan Hot & Spicy Dumplings, Chicken Pot Stickers, and Steamed Soup XLB. Service was quick and efficient!

Excited to see this pop up in Downtown Burlingame! I dined here midafternoon on a weekday and was surprised to see how quickly it became crowded. I think the food meets or exceeds expectations and fulfills an unmet need in this downtown area. I am particularly impressed by the number of vegetarian options as well and would like to return here to try their drinks someday. I ordered: - pan fried green beans: really enjoyed the texture, super flavorful. a classic! - steamed soup xlb: was VERY impressed with the thinness of the dough and amount of broth inside. it was a little bland, but I felt the overall construction of the xlb was incredible - three flavor dumpling: impressed by the amount of filling (shrimp included) and texture of the dough. it was cooked well. I did feel that the flavor of the chives took over, so may be an acquired taste? - dan dan noodles: for those who want a lighter szechuan flavor, I think these noodles were incredible. It may not be as spicy as other dishes, but I don't think any flavor was sacrificed for a lighter numbing sensation

The flavor of the food is top notch. Fresh clean ingredients. Amazingly flavorful. Highly recommend. Service is great, very nice and thoughtful staff. The pork buns have soup inside! What a great surprise. The flavor of the pork is delish. It's on the Ave so typical parking. You can order online, at the kiosk, or join waitlist inside the door. Highly recommend. One of the best dumplings I've had! The pork buns with soup inside is my favorite. They also have other unique flavors.

A friend and I decided to try Dumpling Kitchen and Bar since it's a fairly new restaurant in Burlingame. The location is right on corner of busy Burlingame Ave. I think there used to be a Japanese restaurant here before DK&B. On a weeknight around dinner time, the place was about 3/4 full. Immediately upon walking in, I realized this is like no other dumpling place I've been to before. First off, there is a full bar. The lighting fixtures and interior are really trendy and modern. We ordered the steamed soup XLB (8/10), shrimp toast (7/10), pork pan fried buns (9/10) - thanks to the two people next to us who burned their tongues and squirted soup broth on their shirts, we got advanced warning this was going to be a messy and juicy dish!, and Dandan noodles (6/10). Everything was really yummy. Service was wonderful. Our server was really helpful in helping us decide what to order. They also didn't rush us to leave even though we were done with our meal and was just sitting around catching up. I can't wait to bring my family here to checkout this new find and to try more dishes!

Dumpling Kitchen & Bar is outstanding. The service is good and the food totally delicious. I love dumplings so I couldn't wait to try this place. We ordered the Thai Tom Yum XLB (Xiao Long Bau), Shrimp Toast, Beef Roll, Mapo Tofu Steamed Dumplings, and Pan-Fried Bun With Chicken & Corn. The dumpling shapes were creative and interesting. The 5 dishes were enough food for the 3 of us to satisfy our hunger. This establishment is a winner in my eyes. The teapot is beautiful. The vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil containers are eye catching. The place is spacious with plenty of seating inside, and they also have outdoor seating. They do not have a parking lot. Downtown Burlingame is a busy place. Everyone is looking for street parking. There is a city parking lot with meters a block away (across the street from Il Fornaio). We were able to find parking there.

We walked into a spacious dining room with views overlooking the bay, creating a more special atmosphere than a typical dim sum restaurant. The location near the airport also added a unique touch, with views of planes taking off and landing while we ate, a detail that made the meal feel distinct from the usual dim sum experience. The room feels open and comfortable, the kind of place suited for family meals, celebrations, or a longer weekend dim sum gathering. The dim sum menu covers many of the classics, with carts bringing out dishes throughout the dining room and making the experience feel traditional and lively. We tried the har gow, shu mai, BBQ pork buns, and turnip cakes, all of which were solid staples that made the restaurant a good choice for a full dim sum spread. The har gow had a thin, translucent wrapper and a generous shrimp filling, and the shu mai were well seasoned and held together nicely. The seafood-focused dishes also fit naturally with the restaurant's identity, with fresh ingredients and larger banquet-style dishes available beyond the usual dim sum selections. The dinner menu added another reason to visit, especially for larger groups. The Peking duck was a standout, with crispy skin, tender meat, and the classic combination of steamed buns, hoisin sauce, and fresh accompaniments that made each bite feel balanced. Seafood dishes like crab with ginger and scallions highlighted the restaurant's focus on Cantonese flavors, with the ginger providing a clean contrast to the sweet crab meat. Fried rice and wok-fried dishes provided satisfying options to round out the meal, each one arriving hot and well seasoned. Desserts were also worth saving room for. The sesame balls had a crisp exterior with a chewy texture and warm black sesame filling, while the Portuguese egg tarts finished the meal with a flaky pastry and smooth custard center. We appreciated these small details, as they helped make the meal feel complete rather than just focused on the main dishes. Service was generally attentive and the large dining room made it easier to accommodate groups compared to smaller dim sum spots. The staff handled the steady flow of diners efficiently, and the food came out at a good pace even when the restaurant was busy. Prices can vary depending on seafood selections, but the combination of food, space, and waterfront views makes Grand Harbor a good option when you want a more relaxed Cantonese dining experience. It is especially worth considering for dim sum when you want both the traditional atmosphere and a scenic setting.

If you love views and aviation and dim sum, this is the place to go. Arrived around 9:20AM on a Saturday morning and there was no line. Keep in mind that if you do plan to celebrate a holiday, such as Mother's Day here, come EARLY. The lines will be long and you also want to ensure you get a parking spot. Parking can get really crazy and the spots are tight. I would not recommend driving a car in which you care if someone dings it. There is limited street parking outside but you will have to walk and jaywalk across a semi-busy street. My tip is to come early and park close to the PARKING LOT EXIT if you can, NOT the restaurant. If it's a crowded day, you'll thank me later. Anyways, parking lot aside, the food is pretty good. I would definitely get the Crispy BBQ pork bun. That one is always yummy. Other dishes are sort of up to your taste buds. The process is really easy with menus in which you mark what you want and then hand it over to one of the waiters/waitresses. Our food came out almost all at once with minimal wait. I think it was only quick because it was relatively not too busy at the time we were there which was 9:30AM-10:20AM.

I went on a Saturday at noon and there was just one couple dining; when I left, there were 4-5 more groups. The inside of the restaurant looked aesthetically pleasing. The bathroom was quite old but clean. One of the 2 dispensers was out of soap, which I had hoped they would check as part of the restaurant opening and closing procedures. Our waiter was very friendly throughout the meal and offered food suggestions for us to consider. Beef pancake roll - unique seasoning. I liked how they included shredded lettuce for that crunchy texture. It was wrapped in green onion pancake, so it was a bit oily and required some chewing. My dad didn't care for this. I initially thought this isn't bad but by the end of eating my half, I was ok not ordering this again. I think it's worth trying once. Beef stew noodle soup - beef was flavorful but I needed to chew it a bit, so if you have elderly loved ones with dentures, keep that in mind! Noodles were al dente. My mom didn't like how the portion is very small. Pork & crab meat XLB (Xiaolongbao, soup filled dumplings) - First thing I thought when the server placed the bamboo steamer down on the table was, 'wow, these are SO small'. But regardless, I could definitely taste the crab, and the broth was flavorful and plenty. If I were to dine here again, I would order this. Chicken & vegetable boiled wontons in chicken soup - The skin of the wontons was springy and unique. The broth had sesame oil but otherwise was pretty mild/bland. My mother liked the broth from the beef stew noodle soup more. Pan fried chive dumpling - contained egg, glass noodles, and a lot of garlic and chives. Very yummy and would get this again. Pork & shrimp potsticker - was juicy. The skin a little thick. They came with a tiny side of sweet, sour, spicy pickled veggies. I thought this dish was mediocre. High tail shrimp & pork steamed dumplings - The pork was dense, which wasn't necessarily bad. The dumpling was slightly juicy but wasn't broth-filled. My mom didn't care for this dish. Overall, I would rate this restaurant a 3.5/5 but will round it up. My mom thought the food was quite mid and admitted it as such to the waiter after we paid the bill. I'm honestly not sure if I would return, given all the wonderful other cuisines/choices here in the downtown area - perhaps if I'm craving chive dumplings or crab dumplings again.

Service was minimal. We helped ourselves to the pitcher of water on the table. After looking at the menu on the table, we placed our order by scanning a QR code. Since we're not too hungry. We ordered one appetizer and one noodle dish to share. The special mix salad came pretty quickly. We ordered "less spicy", and it had the perfect amount of heat. All the ingredients tasted fresh and the dish had a bit of everything we wanted to try. I liked the tofu skin the best, and my daughter loved the crunchy cucumber. It would be even better if they included lotus roots as well. It took a little while for the house special beef noodle soup (less spicy) to arrive, but it was totally worth the wait. It came piping hot. The broth was very flavorful, with the right amount of red pepper. It wasn't oily at all. The beef was super tender. I loved the texture of the noodles, and the beef to noodle ratio was not bad. A really solid dish. Would love to come back again to try their other dishes, especially their xiao long bao.

Having said that, Mingalaba is probably the most authentic Asian restaurant I've eaten at so far. You can there that there's no shortcuts with the dishes, nothing is watered down, everything is just real. The coconut chicken soup is something out of this world. It's not spicy at all. I can't describe it but it was really delicious, as with all the other dishes. The service was amazing and they even amended some of our dishes so that we could feed it to our kid (non-spicy). I really like this restaurant. Only such a shame we live so far now and only just discovered it. I'd visit again if I'm around.

While there are a few highlights, several dishes don't quite justify the premium pricing. The Burmese beef and lamb curries are really good--the meat is consistently tender and the flavors are deep and well-developed. We also really enjoyed the rainbow salad and the paratha with curry sauce, though both felt overpriced for what they are. Other menu items have been disappointing: * Catfish Chowder: This was fairly average and bore a strange resemblance to pea soup. * Walnut Broccoli Chicken: Another mediocre dish that failed to leave an impression.
