Their feta alone gets 5-stars itself. Everything else is beyond exceptional as well. Food - got the Grilled Chicken Souvlaki sandwich and Steak Fries. Their portions are fairly large, so I was able to take some home and enjoy it again. As mentioned, their feta is amazing. The souvlaki sandwich was PACKED with a bunch of meat and vegetables, so wasn't able to really eat as a sandwich, but that didn't bother me at all. The grilled chicken was cooked perfectly. Their steak fries were delicious as well! Service - Super friendly, accommodating, and just a dang delight. So respectful and professional. Ambiance - [[HIGHLIGHT]]A very cute spot where you order your food first then take a seat in their small and very intimate dining area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]But really cool that your food is being prepared on the other side of the wall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I get why my sister loves this place and the diners inside looks very satisfied as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Can't wait to find myself near another location so I can have it again.

The incredibly rich flavor of it all is the best, both mouthwatering and easily making you crave the next bite! The ciabatta, bread is delicious and thick enough to hold the ingredients, including the pickled beets, boiled egg, feta, kalamata olives & so much more goodness, which makes the sandwich a winner! I also highly recommend this sandwich! I ordered this via Postmates and am so glad I decided to give this a try. The fried chicken plate is so good! And so filling. I love the vibrant colors of all the different items on the plate and how the portion is decent for the price. $20 for the plate was steep at first but I was glad to see how much stuff is included. The fried chicken is perfectly cooked and the hummus is good! The rice and pickled veggies are also a nice touch to finish the dish off. :) I like the flat bread that comes with the order. There's a perfect amount of different flavors of each item on the plate. I've also tried the falafel plate and it was good. I definitely prefer the falafel overall because they were perfectly cooked! Crispy and not dry compared to other places I've tried. The filling is full and the texture wasn't hard. My only complaint to this would be I NEVER get utensils which is frustrating lol. Of all the times I've ordered takeout, I never get utensils! Definitely recommend!

Wow, what a gem. I've only been here twice, but both times the food was executed perfectly, the service was fantastic, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the vibes were great[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The falafel was perfect. Moist, (NOT DRY) with crispy outside and spiced perfectly. You have to try to believe, but their fried chicken plate/sandwich is unbelievable. The grilled is juicy and flavored super well. The sandwich is loaded with protein, and the plate has so many things on it, you won't be disappointed

I was recommended this spot for falafel so I came to check it out. The good: - The woman at the cashier was friendly - The food comes out fast - [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a water jug at the front with clean cups for easy access[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - The takeaway is packed really well As for what I liked less, the falafel is just average: it isn't bad, but lacks seasoning. And the tahini on top is not enough to truly enhance the dish. The falafel wrap had good texture but again pretty much the same. This location isn't bad by any means, the falafel just did not meet my expectations.

I've heard the hype for Dune and decided to check it out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is pretty small and we end up sitting too close to comfort to other diners when it's packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the hummus and grilled chicken plate. I requested for the chicken to be cut on my behalf. Unfortunately, I wasn't blown away by the food like others have been. The chicken was super dry and salty, the rice was so bland even when there's so much seasoning and ingredients on top of it, and the salad was just tart. Flat bread was amazing though - I would come strictly for them only.

I visited Dune Downtown LA with a friend and overall had a really solid experience. I ordered the cardamom cold brew -- and WOW. It was out of this world. Every sip was smooth, aromatic, and packed with the perfect hit of cardamom. I genuinely savored every drop. We shared the hummus & falafel plate and the fried chicken plate. The falafel plate was the standout -- crispy, flavorful falafel with fresh, delicious sides. I loved everything on that plate and would definitely order it again. The fried chicken was just okay in my opinion -- not bad, but it didn't wow me like the falafel did. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is small but has some indoor seating, and we were lucky to find street parking nearby.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The guy who helped us was friendly and welcoming. I'd definitely return, especially for the falafel and to try the regular chicken plate next time. And that cardamom cold brew? 100% worth coming back for on its own.

While in DTLA, I decided to grab some lunch at Dune. It's been on my to try list since they've been in Atwater, so I'm glad I finally had a chance to try it here. I opted for the meze plate to go. The food was really delicious and I actually really enjoyed it, however, I would've enjoyed it more if the items were in small different dishes. By the time I got home, my to go plate was everywhere and everything was a little mushed. Both the chicken and the falafel in the meze plate was really good. My favorite was their pita bread. OMG, it was so good! It was dense and rich in flavor. I might wanna try the sandwich next time I'm at Dune just to try something different.

We came in with a group of 5 people for lunch at 12 PM and ordered the Hummus & Grilled Chicken Plate. The plate has tons of flavor from every bite, with each ingredient serving its own purpose. Everything was perfectly balanced. Nothing too salty, sweet, spicy, or savory. The portion sizes are pretty large. There are small outdoor and indoor seating, with some tables only able to hold 2 people at a time. Summary: - CLEANLINESS. Very clean and organized. There are some tables inside and outside. - COSTS. $$ Decently priced for the quality and amount served. (About $22 per plate at the time of this writing.) - CUSTOMER SERVICE. The staff were very fast and professional. - FOOD QUALITY. The ingredients were freshly prepared. You can tell none were prepackaged or left sitting there for hours. - FOOD QUANTITY. A large-sized portion. - WAIT TIME. We went in around 12 PM, which is generally the peak lunch time. Quick service. 10-15 Minute wait.

Got the hummus + falafel platter and OH MY GOSH, one of the best falafels I've ever had. You can hands down tell that it's fresh and made with care - it was soft inside but crunchy outside and just so delicious. The hummus was also great and a good portion. The sides that came with the platter (coleslaw, salad, pickled veggies, olives, etc.) all tasted better than the other. We also got the spiced almonds + olives appetizer that was good, but personally something I'd skip on next. Love the vibe of this space too - small and cozy. Service was friendly and quick. Can't wait to be back to try one of their flatbread sandwiches! read more

The Pickled Beets Sandwich alone is worth coming here for! As someone who loves savory, tangy flavors, this sandwich is perfect. There's a lot of flavors going on, but they all mesh together to make a perfect sandwich. Be warned, the toum will make your breath smell like garlic for the rest of the day, but it's well worth it! I've also tried the Fried Chicken "Shawarma" Sandwich. It's a good-sized sandwich. I was worried it would be too dry, but it was fine! It's different from any other chicken sandwich I've had before. The mint added an interesting flavor dimension. The sandwich was pretty heavy. I probably wouldn't order it again when the Pickled Beets Sandwich is around. The French fries are so-so. They're greasy and the sumac and za'atar were a little too heavy for me to enjoy with the chicken sandwich. I would probably skip these as well. The woman who took my order was nice and efficient. This is definitely more of a takeout place because there's no seating inside the restaurant, just enough space for you to take two steps inside to the counter. There were a few tables outside, but they were all occupied when I went at 5 pm on a Saturday. read more

Unpretentious, mega-fresh, and soul-warming food. The small space is filled with green plants and feels like you're eating in someone's cozy home. The flatbread falafel sandwich is stuffed FULL of crispy falafel, pickled veggies, fresh herbs, and creamy hummus. The pickled mango sauce provided on the table is amazing! You will leave dune feeling satiated in both stomach and soul. read more

Delicious and abundant! Must try the hummus plates with any protein or vegetable option. We parked in the apartment complex for $12. Street parking is limited too. Inside seating is tight, but there is also a couple chairs and tables outside. Now that I know they deliver, will probably order from here more often. read more

This SUPER SCRUMPTIOUS Mediterranean restaurant is located on the northeast corner of Olympic and Broadway in the fashion district sector of DTLA. There are a few parking lots within a block of the restaurant, and the closest one is across the street on the northwest corner. There's metered parking on Olympic and Broadway (be sure to read the signs). Their menu is unique, and unlike typical Mediterranean restaurants, you won't find chicken/beef kabob and rice here; but whatever you choose will be very enjoyable. When I order (which is often since I live a block away), I choose either the beet sandwich, falafel sandwich, or the hummus/falafel plate; and I always have the mint tea. I LOVE the side sauces. Especially the "pickle-y" yellow sauce!! If you like it spicy then try the green sauce. It's hot so be careful. All in all these words are how I describe the food: Excellent. Fresh. Flavorful. I love this place. My first time trying dune was at the Atwater Village location, but it's just as great here. The Falafel sandwich is BOMB. It can definitely get a bit messy.. but who doesn't want generous portions? Whatever dish you decide to get, I suggest putting some of that Spicy Chermoula on it. read more

I'm very regularly not a regular for any place- especially in LA where there are just so many things to try! Dune is the exception and is my go-to for Mediterranean faire. I've tried almost everything on the menu at this point and haven't felt let down. 5 stars for great food and staying constantly great throughout COVID. read more

This place is beyond amazing! As a vegetarian, I have eaten my fair share of falafel and Dune, by far, has the best that I have ever had. I typically order the falafel sandwich that has too many toppings on it to name, but you will surely not be disappointed. The Meze Fried Chicken plate has my heart. I love it because you get their delicious fried chicken, falafel, hummus, slaw, salad, and pita!! It's so delightful to enjoy a little bit of everything in one combo plate. Make sure to get a side of garlic sauce also! One small critique - I live far away and ordered ahead online the night before so that I'd be able to quickly pick up food for the whole family on my way to the OC. When we got to the restaurant at the appointed time, we found out that the order hadn't been confirmed/begun. They were very apologetic and managed to complete the large order in record time, and we only had to wait an extra 15 minutes. I didn't dock a star for that, I understand that mistakes happen! I was actually rather impressed that they were able to rally and prepare our order that quickly! That said, maybe their online ordering system needs a little looking into? I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else- maybe call in when the restaurant opens if you've made an online order during their off hours, just to be safe. The food is incredible enough that they fully deserve 5 stars. Yum!! read more

What a find! I had the organic green herb falafel sandwich and it was the best I've ever had. If you like a little heat, order some S'rug sauce on the side. Food was fresh and flavorful and the service was great! If you're ever in DTLA, I highly recommend Dune. read more

My husband found this place on Doordash and I think it's my new favorite Mediterranean place! Food was all very good and tasted fresh (not oversalted like some places). We both got the lamb plate and it was enough for leftovers. Will definitely be ordering from here again! read more

Delicious Mediterranean food in the heart of DTLA! An alternative to Panini Kabob and Shekarchi. Kindly take note of their lunch time hours: 11am-3pm I have tried their other branch location in Atwater Village but this Dune is convenient and within walking distance of my work. Flavorful Chicken Souvlaki a la Plancha. Little on the pricey side for a sandwich ($12) but if you got the dough and a hungry belly, go for it! Meat was mouth watering and tender. Great tzatziki sauce and marinated red onions. Very colorful presentation. Only qualm is the portions are just a tad bit small but I do have a waist to cinch so I should really not be complaining. Maybe I will opt for a plate next time! Very healthy tasting and heartily satisfying. read more

I can clearly see why this was voted one of L.A. top falafel spots. The falafels are full of flavor and deliciously fried to a delicious golden perfection. I ordered the falafel and hummus plate, it is paired with delicious tahini, and a side of greens that compliment the falafels and hummus beautifully. I also had the rosemary lemonade and baklava for dessert. To say that I was in a self induced food stupor would be an understatement. Can't wait to eat here again. We have only ordered thru Postmates the past 3x and we are always happy with our food! I wait to eat until my husband gets home from work and I can happily say even when the food isn't warm, it's still delicious. Having a baby makes it a little hard for us to go out and enjoy a nice meal out so we rely on food delivery services. Many times, the food we have delivered does not look and taste the way we expect it to but I can honestly say the food tastes and looks amazing. Can't wait to dine in one day! read more

We've had Dune twice recently and both times were really good. I had the chicken and hummus plate both times and it tastes healthy but delicious and is a decent amount of food. I love all the things that come on the plate like the salad, pickles, etc. A great healthy/tasty option in downtown. read more

I ordered a couple things to go. It's been awhile, but I think it was the swarma plate and some sandwich. Everything was super delicious. The service though was amazing. I order on postmates and was in a hurry. I also had my small puppy with me. The restaurant is located on a horrid intersection for parking, so I called the restaurant and asked kindly for the employee to bring the food out to my car and they obliged. It was very helpful and I really appreciate the wonderful service. Would definitely come here again read more

If you have a chance to visit this restaurant, you should. The food is fresh, healthy, beautifully prepared and the service is helpful and friendly. The restaurant is small but clean and pretty. As someone who needs gluten free options, they are listed on the menu and without asking they substituted a generous portion of sliced cucumber instead of the flatbread for my delicious hummus and falafel plate. This is definitely a really great place before a show in the area or anytime! read more

You wouldn't be faulted for missing this little gem of a restaurant. Dune sits tucked away, a few steps off Broadway, just north of Olympic. They're small, a little hidden, and tucked away, but they're definitely worth seeking out. They've been serving up some incredible falafel and shawarma plates, among other middle eastern fair, for the past few years in downtown, minus a small stint when they closed "temporarily," which usually means we're actually gone for good, but in Dune's case they actually came back... And, boy, was I happy. Their plates are plentiful, everything cooked deliciously, garlicky, savory. The aforementioned falafel and hummus plate is a favorite. A healthy serving of each, and a nice side salad and pita to round out a perfect to-go plate. The lamb and chicken are also wonderfully cooked, and both in wrap or as a plate, have been incredibly satisfying. Do not skip on their sauces, they range from sweet to savory and their garlic sauce will satisfy, or devastate a date night, but hey... If there is one thing good about staying in it's probably guilt-free-garlic-overload. Service is always fast. I've never eaten in, as we live nearby and it's a short walk to snag a couple plates, but orders are ready fast, the staff is friendly and responsive, and did I mention... I'm happy they came back. There are some great ME options in DTLA, but if someone asks, I'd point them to Dune. I'm very happy happy they're so close. This is definitely a restaurant I'd travel for. read more

Dune Downtown is the best mediterranean restaurant I have been in Los Angeles. Their grilled chicken plate is to-go order from them. The chicken is always nicely grilled on charcoals, the hummus is very creamy, the condiments (pickled onions, beets, hot green paper, black olives and some reddish) are super tasty and complimenting to the dish and the house salad is very refreshing and juicy. They also sell many of the condiments I listed and they are very delicious. The customer service during COVID is top notch. The food is ready in 10-15 minutes. Once they were late just for a few minutes and they insisted on a 10% discount for that. Great place. The only downside is they are closed on Sundays, but it's better for the team. read more

Really bomb. I come and grab hummus and pita bread here a lot. It's super fresh, really great taste. I got the chicken wrap yesterday and I was so surprised. It was really good, and literally typing this is about to make me go drive and get one lol. They put a lot meat they put in it and they're super fast with getting your order out. Usually at other restaurants like this I'll get the full plate with rice and hummus and everything else, but yesterday I just got the chicken wrap and it was so good and filling. It was fresh and flavorful and employees are super friendly. Great downtown energy, definitely will be eating this until I burn out on hummus lol read more

In 2015, Dune opened in the Atwater Village neighborhood of Los Angeles. Our vision was to pay homage to the food we love using the freshest, cleanest, and most local ingredients possible. We were inspired to add the voice of our city to the chorus of beautiful and diverse cultures who call this cuisine their own, and to create our own unique version of the street food of the Levant and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Meet the Business Owner: Scott Z.

Zwiezen is well known as the co-founder and chef behind the hugely popular vegetarian spot, Elf, in Echo Park. Now in it's 11th year, Elf began serving complex, richly flavored vegan and veggie fare far ahead of the trends. "We were really keen on traditional Middle Eastern recipes which are so rich in flavors and textures," explains Zwiezen of Elf's inception, "rather than fake meats and whatnot." With Dune, Zwiezen has expanded that philosophy to include organic, sustainably raised lamb and free-range chicken, exploring Middle Eastern classics, but adding his own unique take. "I grew up in Louisiana and then later the suburbs of Denver. I was in my early 20s when I first tried Middle Eastern food and I was hooked from the first bite. I sought it out wherever I could from then on and years later when I opened a place, there was no question of what type of food we'd be featuring."

The shop was just a hop, skip and jump down the 91. Be advised that parking is a challenge. The Convenience store next door allowed parking for 10 minutes. Not convenient. The Dry Cleaner had spaces for 10 seconds. I can't even open the car door in 10 seconds. The available slots are narrow and best for motorcycles, not cars and trucks. Sababa is a fast casual concept but hold on there, not so fast, Mate, there is always a line out the door so let's make it a slow casual place. No matter, it's all worth the effort. Patience is not optional as the place is a bit of a Mad House. Pickle bits flying and Tomato Cucumber Relish launched while your meal is created before your eyes and yet the place is very clean and appealing. The line will move and you will eventually interact with the phalanx of enthusiastic Servers ready and happy to make your Bowls and Stuff your Pita just the way you want it. Take the free sample Falafel the size of a pregnant Cherry and still warm from the fryer to whet your already needy appetite. Delicious! The Falafel are crisp all around and the center has the consistency of Polenta/Grits inside the crackling crust. The Herbs and Spices tantalize the taste buds and come shining through satisfying the craving that brought you here. Falafel are available in bags of 6 , 12 or you pick a number and the Fry Cooks will make it happen. Soon your Falafel, Prime Rib, Wagyu Beef, or Chicken will be ready to mix into your Bowl or Pita. Sababa takes a page from the Chipotle Model only without the eColi. A dozen containers are set in ice and hold everything you could ask the helpful Condiment Commando for. Three different kinds of thinly sliced Onions (Sumac dusted, Pickled, or a short shower of Lemon Juice) plus Diced Pickles, Two types of Shredded Cabbage, Fresh Chopped Tomatoes and Cucumbers, Chopped Lettuce (hmmm, so far so good), Cucumber Yogurt Sauce (like Raita), Shatta (Hot Sauce), Tahini and a dollop of Hummus. Voila, you're all set to eat a Pita stuffed with stuff exactly the way you've been dreaming about. The Pita is outsourced and better than you'll find in any local market or Bakery in Little Arabia. The finished product is slipped into a paper bag to minimalize making a mess, (almost). The Pita is the size of a dinner plate but it won't get soggy, disintegrate of suffer from Falafel Fall Apart. The origin of Sababa is to offer the traditional street food that's famous in Palestinian Ramallah. All the Meats are strictly Halal certified by Islamic Authorities and are top quality with no mystery chew. ie; it is authentic. We sat outside on a small patio facing Glendale Blvd. It's a tight space, and at one point someone from the street was walking around nearby talking to themselves, which made the experience a bit less comfortable. Staff was friendly and service was quick though, no issues there. Also, no public restroom, so keep that in mind. Overall, not bad. I was hungry, so I finished everything pretty fast, but it didn't really stand out enough for me to make a special trip again.

The noodles had a nice chewy texture and the thick peanut sauce and chili oil that coated it made it super scrumptious. The freshness of the cucumber and herbs cutting through the rich sauce balanced it out. The pan fried pork buns however were rather forgettable. The meat was juicy but I was left wanting more flavour in both the meat and the buns. I also wish the bottoms were a bit crispier. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to try their breakfast menu and other items though. Because peeking at the other tables they offerings looked delicious.

Everyone should check out this place Dune in Atwater, I can't objectively say bad things about it. Except that maybe we had to wait a little for the food but in my book that's a good thing. I really hate when you order and 2 minutes later you get the food. The pita is unique and all the ingredients used to make it are high quality and as fresh as they come. The lamb was just amazing, perfectly cooked and tasty, not overly salty or spiced up. If I was being picky I would say that everything doesn't yet flow together, there is a bit of downtime between courses and communication among staff seems to be up and down, but let's just hope this place works and finds it's style.
