Inside was clean and great place for friends to get together or a date. The service was great. The food was so good. The platter had a bit of all the appetizers. The pita that comes with it are like Doritos size chips. If you finish, they bring you more. I thought that was great because sometimes the pita bread is gone when you still have hummus and other dips leftover. I got the moussaka and it was probably one of the best I ever had! I'm not sure what type of cheese was on top but it was at least an inch thick. It was toasted/baked on top just right. The eggplant and sliced potato was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The tomato sauce was tasty as well. I will definitely get it again! My friend got the lamb skewers. Generally, I don't eat a lot of meat; nonetheless, lamb, but it was actually pretty good. This is an amazing stop for authentic Mediterranean cuisine! They have multiple shareable platters and a unique wine list, with wines from Napa. The interior is a bit small but I think contributes to a more homely ambiance. I tried their Keftedes, and it was absolutely amazing. Their meat is well seasoned and paired nicely with the rice and grilled vegetables it came with. I do wish their plates came with slightly more vegetables to pair with the meat, but everything was well made and still made for a satisfying meal. Very nice cozy restaurant on Polk Street right by Bob's Donuts, with Mediterranean fare and good wine selections! We're met by a gentle server and ordered Mixed Meze Plate, Adana, Lamb Borchettes, and Stuffed Falafel Salad. I also had a nice BigGuy Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a lot of food! Impromptu dinner as we were at Cinch a block down so it was later in the evening around 7:30pm and only one other table occupied in the house (shortly thereafter it got busy). Started off with the shishito peppers and hummus. Both fresh and delicious! Pita bread came out piping hot from the oven along with the peppers! Ordered what essentially was a chicken breast kabob platter with white rice and this delicious salad (not tabouli) with grilled tomato. Everything was tasty and the only thing I would change is the rice as it was just plain ol white rice. I visited Dunya for a Yelp Elite event and truly enjoyed my experience from the food to the service and ambience. Dunya is conveniently located on the popular Polk St and serves up delicious Turkish food and offers an extensive range of wines. I enjoyed their mixed mezze platter with pita that had a variety of dips to select from and a large portion that's good for sharing. The highlight of the meal was the mixed grill that included beyti, chicken, lamb, and kofta kebabs. The chicken was soft, juicy and tender and the beyti with the tomato sauce was a delight. I have to commend the staff here for being extremely friendly and also very generous with their wine pours. They provided a great overview of the dishes and were very accommodating to our preferences. Sat at the table next to the door, which was a bit cramped but has a cozy feel. The hummus platter was the best! Came with soft, toasted pita bread. It's nice to share with a large party since you get to sample all the different dippings. My favorite was the eggplant hummus with its refreshing citrus zest. The Beyti was also delicious. It tastes like an enchilada, the meat filling is flavorful and wrapped with a crispy tortilla. A rich marinara sauce is drizzled over the top. My partner and I got takeout from Dunya Bistro over the weekend. We ordered the Mezze Platter and Keftedes, and the volume and quality of the food you get is a great deal for the price. To start, the variety of spreads that comes with the Mezze Platter are all so delicious that to pick a favorite would be to not give the others what they deserve. We especially loved dipping the pita through multiple spreads and the many combinations we were able to experience. (I could do with more baba ganoush, though). Everything on this platter is wonderful, and I felt especially drawn to the falafel, which were covered in a sauce to ensure they wouldn't dry out. If I were to criticize something about this platter as takeout, it would be the toasted pitas which were a little too overdone, and thus a little hard. Similarly, the meat of the Keftedes tasted wonderful, but I felt these skewers were also overdone by the time they got to us. The menu, however, featured squarely Greek and Turkish dishes with creative appetizers, salads, meats, and more. We started with the Mixed Meze Platter, which came with nine different appetizers including tzatziki, hummus, melitzano (eggplant) purée, borek (cheese cigars), falafel, muhammara, grape leaves, olives, and pita bread. Every item was tasty, though my favorite was the crispy borek, which had a deliciously salty cheese filling. The Horiatiki was a crunchy salad made with Campari tomatoes, Persian cucumbers, red onions, crumbled feta, olives, and uniquely, Anaheim peppers, which added a spicy kick; and the Stuffed Falafel Salad came with three dry falafel balls stuffed with goat cheese, served over mixed greens and avocado. A standout appetizer was the Octapodaki, a tender grilled octopus tentacle served with a lemony slaw made of kale, red cabbage, and chickpeas. For our mains, we had the Musakka, a baked vegetarian casserole made of sliced eggplant, potatoes, red bell peppers, zucchini, and spinach, topped with bechamel sauce and served over tomato sauce. We noticed others after us were being taken care of, but it took almost 45 minutes from ordering for our food to come out and we had to remind someone that we had ordered bottomless mimosas. I guess the food made up for it though! I ordered the prosciutto benedict and it was soo good. I might have also been biased because of bottomless, but the prosciutto was super flavorful and it was probably one of my best egg benedicts ever. 1 Star - Disappointing and Unacceptable Service I made a reservation for 3:45 PM on February 14th and arrived at 3:41 PM with my boyfriend. When we walked in, the restaurant was completely empty. Instead of being greeted, we were met with silence and confused looks. I had to be the one to say hello and inform them that we had a reservation. We weren't asked any questions -- just told we could sit "anywhere." We chose a small table for two near the front (clearly set with only two chairs). Moments later, we were told we had to move because there was apparently a reservation for four at that exact two-seat table. Confusing, but we moved and let it go. We ordered two plates, one entrée with hummus, and a single Coke. Water came out. Then we waited. 20 minutes passed -- no hummus. A group of four white customers walked in without a reservation. They were immediately greeted warmly and seated. Their entrées came out before we even received our appetizer. At 25 minutes, our hummus finally arrived. Another 30 minutes passed. Still no entrées. Still no Coke. Meanwhile: A table of two (no reservation) came in and was greeted and served quickly. Another table of two was seated by the window -- at the very spot we were told was "reserved for four." At one point, a server brought out food and I thought it was finally ours -- only to be told it was for the table of four who came in after us. The restaurant had three cooks and two waiters, and it was empty when we arrived. There was no reasonable explanation for a 50 minute wait for basic dishes. When the food finally came: The chicken was wet and soggy. The rice portion was tiny. The pita bread for the hummus was burnt. And the Coke we ordered? We never received it at all. When the bill came, they were fully aware the Coke was never brought out. We barely had the bill in our hands for a minute before staff returned to collect payment, hovering and clearly urging us to leave immediately. After waiting 50 minutes for food, we were rushed out the door as soon as it was time to pay. The entire experience cost nearly $80 -- and the service felt like it was worth $3. What made this especially uncomfortable was the noticeable difference in how other guests were greeted and served compared to us. We felt overlooked from the moment we walked in. I had high hopes based on the online praise, but unfortunately the service completely ruined the experience. I will not be returning. read more

The appetizer platter was almost $30 without including tax or tip! I liked being able to try the different options in the platter but they were all okay to me. None of the options really stood out to me and we didn't even end up finishing the platter. I think the prosciutto sandwich was reasonably priced. I also really like the fries and salad! I was expecting that food will be good as I love another place from the same owners (Lark at Castro) and Dunya haven't let me down. Bang for your Buck for Bottomless! This spot is on the cheaper end for bottomless mimosas ($20 as of July 16 2022). I'd like to think I can handle bottomless but for some reason I blacked out after only 5 mimosas. The mimosas are super strong. And did I mention bottomless is only $20?
