Nice spot for a Chinese food or sushi. Convenient to the local hotel and all the shops. Nice cozy indoor seating and good service. Food was flavorful. The fried dumplings and beef on a stick were great appetizers. The tangerine beef was sweet and spicy delicious.

I visited East Cafe on a dumpling recommendation and they were pretty good! It was only my second time trying dumplings and these were definitely better then my first try! I ordered pork and chicken steamed dumplings and I think I liked the chicken more (sauce was good too). As always, I ordered chicken and broccoli with rice and with extra sauce ($1 up-charge). The sauce given was different then the sauce used on the dish but upon asking was able to be accommodated. I thought the flavors were good but some of the broccoli could have been steamed a little more. I do not eat seafood or sushi so I cannot speak on those dishes but for everything else, I would return.

The best Chinese food around. Always the same eat in, or take out. I've had my share of bad Chinese food. Not here totally worth it.

I also tried pork buns for the first time. It was not really my favorite, but it was still flavorful. My friend had the steamed sea bass, which was cooked perfectly and came with a really nice, tasty sauce. Service was excellent. Our waitress was very sweet, patient, and attentive, offering recommendations and explaining the menu without being overbearing. They start you off with Chinese tea and a small plate of peanuts, which is a nice touch--but if you have a peanut allergy, make sure to let them know right away since it's placed on the table automatically. The meal ends with fresh cantaloupe, which was ice cold, sweet, and a refreshing finish. The restaurant itself is a nice size with reasonable prices. We went on a Saturday night and there was no wait. It could use a bit of sprucing up, but it was clean and comfortable. Parking is easy, and the restaurant sits right on Route 46, so it's not hard to find at all. They accept all major credit cards and cash.

It was crowded but not packed yet. We were seated right away (your whole party needs to be there). There are so many options for dim sum - some that you don't even typically see in Brooklyn/Chinatown. For example, I saw some lobster tails, and a giant cheesy oyster that looked really good but I'm sure they were $$$. We stuck to the dim sum basics - ha gao, shumai, beef churng fun, chicken feet, chicken sticky rice, steamed cha siu baos, and tofu pudding. I don't have any complaints about the dim sum. All were good and some were even better than ones in NYC. And let me tell you - they do not skimp on the meat here. The ha gaos and shumais were so plump! Since it's a rarity that we get to have authentic Chinese food, we also ordered the salted fish and diced chicken fried rice, and the pan-fried noodles with beef. Both were good and had lots of meat. Service was surprisingly attentive - unlike in NYC where it takes forever to flag down a waiter. Our waiter was always nearby and seemed happy to help with our requests of water, chili oil, etc. I think we might have found our go-to Cantonese restaurant. It's just a shame it isn't closer to home.

First of all, the interior is just as impressive and immersive experience as the outside - it's worth a meal there just for the ambiance. But luckily it's not just about the atmosphere - the food lived up to it as well! Our favorites were the 3 cup chicken and the Mandarin pork chop. American Chinese food was ok, though much of it was still off-temperature due to the commute over. The rice and noodle was just-ok. Not as good flavor as an AJ Bistro. Gold coin steak was saucy, yes, but meat was tough. General cho's was soggy. The more authentic Chinese dishes, though, were much better - the xiaolongbao were good, BBQ spare ribs people liked (I found too dry and lacked flavor in the middle of the rib meat, needed more marination), Shanghai bok choy with mushroom was great, lobster & scallion was excellent. Seared green beans were good. Overall, mixed bag on dishes - I think it'll be better when I go to eat in-person.

I came here on a sunday for the dim sum abd it was quiet, but if you place an order in it comes out fresh. The shrimp rice rolls are soft and succulent, the shrimp being very large. We went for the first time Sunday at like 3pm? Full. Take out orders flying out the door. It's a cute place. Standard strip mall aesthetic. But they do have a window where you can see them hand pulling the noodles. That's right, hand pulling the noodles which is the main attraction. The food is from the North Western part of China near Pakistan so there are some Indian influences like their Cumin lamb and pulled noodles one of their most popular dishes. But I'm getting ahead of myself. With my vegetarian wife who as usual ruins everything by insisting we order vegetarian appetizers. Scallion pancakes were delicious. No pictures because we ate them immediately. Pan fried dumpling. 9 of them. That's a big portion. And it was like 9-10 bucks? They make their own dumpling wrappers, their own dipping sauces. Dumplings were very good. You could really taste the vegetables. Focused on the quality of the ingredients. My wife had the hand pulled noodles in hot oil. Marked spicy it was American spicy. Did not blow your head off. O enjoyed them. They give you a pair of scissors. Because it's one long noodle. Do not use them on your birthday. More on that later. I had the aforementioned cumin lamb and pulled noodles. I liked it but it was overwhelmingly cumin flavored which obviously is the point of cumin lamb. I'm not saying over seasoned I'm just saying it announced itself as this is cumin lamb. Period. We also had bubble tea! How fun is that? My wife had taro which they made with non dairy milk for her. I had pomegranate with exploding bubbles. Never had those before. Also super fun. They did not explode in an American way or even a Chinese way as both countries let's face it are pretty well known for making things explode. No in a pleasant way. Waitress was delightful we had obviously a long conversation about the food and the restaurant. The scissors are for Americans who share their food. In China you would eat the noodles slurp them without cutting them because eating long noodles especially on your birthday is supposed to promote a long life. We did not learn this until after cutting my wife's noodles. It was her birthday. I will miss her but also look forward to meat based appetizers. One door closes and all that. They also own the bakery a few doors down. Very light chiffon style cakes. Not too sweet. Chocolate Oreo cake. I asked if that was very traditional. Oh how we laughed at my hilarious joke.

The dumplings were flavorful, hot, and perfectly steamed. They were definitely the highlight of our meal. Next came the beef pancake which was crunchy, chewy, had excellent flavor, but slightly heavy on the sauce. Lastly, was the braised beef noodle soup. The broth's flavor was on the mild side, whilst relying on the spice's heat to shine as the primary flavor. The beef was also mild, but especially tender. There was also a good amount of proteins in the soup and the hand pulled noodles were perfectly thick and chewy. Overall it was a great dish for a chilly night out.

Here's the updated version:…read more --- **Aberdeen, White Plains -- Dim Sum Excellence in an Unexpected Package** It's been over a decade since I'd been to White Plains. We were looking for a dim sum restaurant and found Aberdeen--what we didn't realize until we arrived was that it's located inside a hotel. We got there a little early, around 11 AM, only to be greeted by a heavy steel door that looked more like the entrance to a utility closet than a restaurant. The place was closed, but we could already see a crowd building in the hotel lobby, anticipating the 11:30 opening. For a second, we questioned whether we'd made the right call. Spoiler: we absolutely had. The interior is deliberately old school, sparse furniture and no dim sum carts. But from the first basket that arrived via QR code ordering, it became clear: this place knows what it's doing. The shrimp and pork dim sum were exceptional--large, flavorful chunks that immediately reminded me I wasn't in some casual White Plains spot. The quality is legitimately comparable to the best dim sum parlors in Chinatown or Queens. That's not hyperbole; I've had enough dim sum in Manhattan to know the difference. The pan-fried flounder was the revelation. Crispy exterior, delicate flesh, seasoned perfectly--it transported me straight to Mott Street. The texture and execution were indistinguishable from what you'd pay more for in lower Manhattan. I also tried their crispy seafood fried rice, which deserves mention for being genuinely unique: properly crispy texture, generous seafood, and that authentic Chinese flavor profile you're chasing. Salt and pepper squid was reliably excellent--a traditional choice done right--and we ventured into unfamiliar territory with the salt-n-pepa finger fish, which was a pleasant surprise. **The experience:** Ordering via QR code is efficient once you remember to hit submit (we learned that lesson the hard way--easy to get caught up in conversation and forget to actually send the order). Service was genuinely fast. The venue is quirky and characterful in a way that actually works once you settle in, especially when you're there with longtime friends. My one regret: I arrived focused on catching up with longtime friends rather than documenting individual dishes. So while I have a great group photo, the food doesn't get solo shots in my archive. That's a me problem, not an Aberdeen problem. If you're in White Plains and want legitimately excellent dim sum without the Manhattan prices, the entrance might throw you off--but the food absolutely won't.

So... we traveled 1200 miles to have wonderful Chinese Food. The Aberdeen, located off the lobby…read moreof the White Plains Residence Inn, is known for its dim sum - which is excellent. However, the rest of the broad and deep menu is excellent as well. The rich Sweet Corn Chicken Soup is sweet, thick (but not gummy) and quite tasty. The pan fried dumplings were outstanding. They were perfectly cooked and well stuffed with minced pork and veggies. The Honey Walnut Shrimp were amazing - plump and perfectly dressed. Finally, the Sesame Chicken was amazing. Perfectly cooked but the best thing is that the chicken was moist, rich and flavorful. So, if we're ever back in White Plains, you know where we'll be dining.
