Our friends found this place after walking 48th Street and being invited in. Our previous dinner plans had fallen through, so we happily met them here, and I'm glad we did. Eccolo is a narrow, intimate restaurant that easily accommodated our party of six on a Sunday night. Our server was incredibly fun and helpful, and attentive to our playful group during our entire stay. When I asked him to pick out a wine for us, he chose a beautiful, fruity Chianti that was hands down the best we've ever had. Our friends ordered Calamari and Flat Bread for the table to share, and the flavors were the perfect start to what would be a classic Italian dinner. The calamari was tender, and the flat bread had a wonderful balance of fresh flavors, with an ample amount of delicious prosciutto. As an entree, I chose the Squid Ink Pasta, which was loaded with large shrimp, clams, mussels and calamari. The sauce was savory, and the bed of pasta was the perfect serving size to compliment the seafood. While we skipped dessert, the table did enjoy a "shot" of Limoncello with our server, which was the perfect way to wrap up our meal. I'm sure there are numerous Italian restaurants in NYC, but here we were welcomed and made to feel right at home. 48th and 8th - Location could not be better after a Broadway Show! Ambiance was bright and cheery. Our server, Carlos, was helpful and kind. Food was delicious, I particular the pastas which were homemade. We had the dessert special - chocolate soufflé and gelato. A lovely way to end a perfect meal. read more

Came back after eating at Eccolo last night as it was very close to the theater district in New York City. The pasta dish was fantastic. Had a nice glass of wine and to top it off all with a slice of tiramisu and a cup of coffee. Our food server was Carlos who provided excellent service. read more

Went to have dinner here before the NYC Half Marathon. Immediately met at the door by the staff, took us to our table and explained their specials. It was steady but the ambiance was perfect. Our food came out quickly and everything was top there. The homemade pastas are perfect. Decided to try dessert as well and definitely worth it. Would love to dine here again. read more

We were welcomed daily on our walk to our hotel so we had to try it. The service was great and the food was amazing with home made pasta. The Alfredo sauce was the best I have ever tasted. We tried this restaurant before seeing a show. The food was not good. The fettuccine noodles didn't taste homemade (not sure if they were or not) - they tasted like boxed noodles you can buy at the grocery store. The Alfredo also tasted like it came from a jar. The chicken was mixed into the dish which was weird - usually good Alfredo comes with chicken laid on top. The spaghetti was better than the Alfredo, but the meatball was very dry. The focaccia bread was free which the meal (we love free bread service), but it was dry and burnt on the bottom. The service was fine - definitely could've been better. Good restaurants typically have servers that can explain the menu well and talk you through options. Our server didn't really do this. They did have a real espresso machine which is used to make the espresso martini which I liked. The bathroom seemed grimey to me. I would not go back. read more

New restaurant in this space, I think they been open around a month at the time of my visit. We had a reservation, but we were welcomed warmly and shown directly to our seats. The service before the meal was excellent. Drinks were ordered and bread was provided. The waiter went over the specials. So far so good! We ordered two appetizers and two entrees. The appetizers came out and were very good. And a little while later, the entrées came out and we're also so very good. The quality of the food matched the quality of the service which was very high. The restaurant was full and our meal from sit down to stand up was an hour and a half. It felt a little bit long, and it did seem from observing the restaurant that the holdup was with the kitchen, producing the food fast enough. But overall, it was a great dining experience and I think of all the restaurants I've eaten at in New York City this is one of the ones with the best service. They would do themselves a favor if they would turn on the lights over the bar. It looks very dark and uninviting and lighting up the bar a llittle bit would really expand the dining room. read more

This is an Italian restaurant which opened recently. I like to try new places before they either close or become super popular that a table is impossible to secure. I was seated immediately and water arrived at the table. I looked over the menu and had decided quickly what I wanted. Shortly after finishing my perusal of the choices, small squares of focaccia with EVOO appeared at the table. They were delicious. The waiter came to take my order and although friends had told me that the grilled pear with basil was delicious, I was more looking forward to my entree, the squid ink pasta with shrimp, clams, mussels, calamari and pancetta. The calamari was good and although it can be rubbery in texture, this was not the case here. lt was a delicious meal with the seafood sitting in the black pasta and drizzled with red sauce. I opted for water instead of wine and I finished the meal with a double expresso. I used the restroom prior to leaving the restaurant and it was clean and well maintained. Eccolo is reasonably priced for the area and I would recommend and return. read more

Wonderful food, wonderful service and wonderful atmosphere. We were vacationing in New York from Cali and the food was so terrific that we ate here 3 times during our stay. The service is top notch. Service is great. Cozy little restaurant. Appetizer I ordered was calamari and that was delicious. Steak had good flavor but was a little tough. The steak is about 2 inch thick but needed to be more tender to make it more enjoyable. Fatty portion of steak could have been charred just a little bit more. read more

Don't not recommend! Most disorganized chaos ever experienced. Team was all bickering with each other not listening to female who seemed to be the only one that knew what was going on, overbooked for the evening, people jammed in doorway because couldn't be seated. Host Pedro was not able to handle/manage people. Tables eating with people standing all on top of them was not pleasant! Food looked nice but items messed up as delivered or team simply didn't communicate! People left as waited over 30min for reserved tables! Drinks subpar as not a consistent bartender...wait staff each made own...definitely shouldn't have traveled to enjoy this... read more

What a great find! Tucked away in a ground floor brownstone in the theater district. Lovely decor, personal, very attentive service. Custom orders were no problem! The food was delicious! I enjoyed squid ink pasta tossed with seafood, and I recommend skipping the marinara sauce that would mask all the delicious flavors. My companion ate a huge chicken cutlet alongside a pile of spaghetti! I wanted to try a dessert but was too full. read more

Eccolo's is a relatively new place in Hell's Kitchen. Intimate setting without the noise roar of a more open venue. The menu was not huge but covered everything you would look for in an Italian restaurant. I had the Pappardelle with crab meat and tomatoes. My sister had the Spaghetti Con Gamberi. Both were excellently prepared, tasty and in reasonable portions. We finished by sharing the Limoncello torte (not on the internet menu). Prices were very reasonable. All of this was presented by our waiter, Carlos, who was professional and attentive without being obsequious. Thanks Carlos for a lovely dinner. Reserved a reservation(6:15 pm) before a 8:00 p.m Broadway show and they OVERBOOKED the restaurant. Line was out the restaurant with angry people who also were not seated for their reservation. Didn't even get to sit to eat but found another amazing restaurant near by. Check out Foodance Italian Restaurant if this place doesn't work out. read more

a few minutes off mid town and avoided the theater rush. we had a wonderful meal. place was 50 % full and we made our show with time to spare. Ravioli was fantastic as well as the chicken parm. can't wait to go back. read more
