I got take out sushi and it was great. The food here is always fresh and delicious. The service is fast and the wait staff is friendly. They have a great vibe for a small restaurant. The Hibachi is fun too. Overall, great spot.

They were okay. We went on a Saturday night, it was busy, the wait was not bad for our large party. We were lucky that we were able to sit around the fountain or in the chairs that were available, as it got busy there were A LOT of people standing. The hibachi chefs are great & know how to put in a show. They kept us engaged & entertained! Wait staff wasn't too bad, the only thing was we were around the hibachi table. A party of 14 so we had two chefs cooking our party's meal, totally understandable. But my chef started maybe 15-20 prior to the other side, maybe due to it being busy but the minute they cooked our last part of the meal they were handing out to go boxes & the bill not even 5 minutes later. The other side hadn't even had a chance to have their finished meals on their plate. Maybe not great for a large parties that want to enjoy it together. We felt very rushed. My mom & I are allergic to shrimp, we are grateful they prepared our meals in the kitchen. Ample servings, they are generous! Hibachi seating area was elbow to elbow, it was a little tight. I'm left handed, my sister in law was to my left & she is right handed. Cleanliness could be better. Fun birthday celebration with the drum as they bring out ice cream. 3.5 if I could give a half star, might give them another chance.

This was so fun! Recommend for a birthday or fun night out. The staff was fun and friendly and the service was excellent. The food was worth the price you're paying!

My 3 year old was thrilled! Our chef did an amazing job of judging when to get him involved and when to let him be shy.

Best hibachi ever. I've never been to a hibachi restaurant that was as full of laughter and charismatic chefs. Every single table was having so much fun and cheering on the other tables. The food was great, of course, but I was so impressed that my chef took special care to include my toddler! He rolled in cranky and starving-- and the staff made sure to get him some plain rice right when we sat down. The chef made him baby bites of steak and paid attention to the food he wanted-- seriously, it was amazing! I'm so glad we came here.

This is unacceptable for a sit down restaurant of this price point.

This is the best sushi I've found in Fort Worth. They also do the hibachi style cooking if you're not into fish. It's well worth a visit.

Horrible Sushi. Sloppy presentation. Rice was not cooked thoroughly. Service was nice, but from a food perspective, very displeased.

If you've been wanting to try this place, I'd definitely recommend arriving early. Parking was probably the most challenging part of the visit. There was a rummage sale happening nearby, so the area was busier than usual. They do have a designated parking lot, but it's very small and fills up quickly. Most people will likely need to rely on street parking, which took a little patience that day. The restaurant itself is tiny, but that's part of the charm. There's a bar area that seats around 10 to 12 people and only a handful of tables. We were a party of three and were seated right away, but I could see larger groups having a harder time finding space together. The tables are also on the smaller side, so once the food starts arriving things can get a little crowded. That said, the food completely lived up to the hype. Everything we ordered was delicious. The chicken karaage was crispy and flavorful, the marinated ribeye was tender and packed with flavor, and my favorite dish of the night was easily the beef yakisoba. We each ordered a starter, three skewers, and a side that our server recommended, and every plate disappeared quickly. The atmosphere felt lively and busy, with Japanese figurines and decorations displayed throughout the restaurant. I overheard another guest mention that it reminded them of places they had visited in Japan, which made me appreciate the attention to detail even more. One thing to note - we were told they don't split bills, which wasn't a problem for our group, but it's something to know ahead of time if you're dining with friends.

It's those little personal touches that make this place so special. I grabbed a solo seat at the sushi counter since the restaurant was pretty packed. The atmosphere was great, everyone was enjoying dinner while watching the World Cup, making for a fun, lively evening. The food was every bit as good as I remembered, and the service remains outstanding. It's easy to see why this place stays busy. A few helpful notes: There's plenty of parking. They close after lunch and reopen for dinner, so check their hours before heading over. To-go orders are also available. I'll definitely be back and this time, it won't be nearly as long between visits. Highly recommend!

From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The restaurant has a cozy, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. The food was fantastic across the board. The Sashimi Dinner was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented -- the fish melted in our mouths. We also tried several rolls, and every single one was a winner: perfectly seasoned rice, generous portions of high-quality fish, and creative flavor combinations that had us going back for more. Everything tasted so fresh and expertly prepared. What really blew us away was the value -- outstanding quality at very reasonable prices. You get restaurant-level sushi without the sticker shock. We'll definitely be back (probably very soon) and we're already recommending Sushi Tao to all our friends and family. If you're in Fort Worth and love great sushi, do yourself a favor and go here. Pros: Peter, the owner and chef, greeted our table and told us his sushi specials, which are flown in special from Tokyo every Friday so they change weekly. We had the o-toro, chu-toro, aji, and fluke, and all were amazing quality and you got a lot of fish for the price. They have a lot of sushi combos and platters to service a variety of sizes of parties. We had the sushi combo which was plenty of fish, especially with the cut sizes. Wait staff was very attentive and helpful with the menu. Cons: the entrance is a little off putting but you shouldn't let that deter you. the french menu was lacking in my opinion. There is only one page of options, and we ended up not ordering anything french since the japanese was so appealing. I would've liked to see some seafood or more small plates. Overall the fish quality and piece sizes will keep me coming back! I definitely want to try some of the hot plate options as well. add it to your list!

Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar is a Japanese hand roll restaurant that focuses on fresh seafood,…read moremade-to-order sushi, and a more interactive dining experience. We walked into a space centered around sitting at the bar and watching the chefs prepare each hand roll in front of us, which gave the meal a more personal feel compared to a traditional sushi restaurant. The setup is smaller and more intimate, making the experience feel closer to a sushi bar rather than a casual meal spot. The biggest highlight is the quality of the fish and the hand rolls themselves. The seafood tastes fresh, clean, and carefully prepared, with options like salmon belly, otoro, kanpachi, and crab hand rolls standing out. We ordered a few different rolls and found each one well executed, with the fish having a clean, bright flavor that did not rely on heavy sauces or toppings. Each roll is made individually, so the nori stays crisp and the textures come through better than pre-made sushi. The menu has a good balance of classic choices and more creative combinations, making it easy to try different flavors throughout the meal. The chef interaction adds another layer to the visit. Since everything is prepared right in front of you, we could see the attention put into each piece, from assembling the ingredients to serving it at the right moment. The chefs were precise in their movements and took the time to explain the different fish and flavor profiles, which made the meal feel more like an experience rather than just ordering sushi off a menu. One thing to plan for is the wait. Hatsuyuki does not take reservations, and the popularity means there can be a significant line during busy hours. We arrived earlier and found it helped us avoid a longer wait. Seating is limited, but that also helps maintain the quality and atmosphere of the restaurant. The intimate size of the bar means the service stays focused and the pacing remains personal, even when the restaurant is full. Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar is one of the stronger sushi experiences in the area for anyone who enjoys fresh seafood and a more curated dining style. The wait can be a downside, but the quality of the fish, chef preparation, and overall atmosphere make it worth visiting, especially if you are looking for something beyond standard sushi rolls. The focus on craftsmanship and the personal interaction with the chefs elevate the meal into something more memorable than a typical sushi stop.
