This was our first time here on a Sunday morning and we where very disappointed. Our waitress, Martha, was the worst waitress I have ever had. She was rude, brought out our meals 5 minuets apart and incomplete. Meaning the toast came out 10 minuets after the first dish was served. This is me and my girlfriends breakfast place... We use to go to Pot Holder but I have become turned off too Pot Holder. For one, they can't get my egg order right, for two their potatoes are really dry and have very little flavor, for three there is always a very long line / wait on weekends... Which I still don't understand. Where do these people come from? Egg Heaven is a solid breakfast joint. It's got a nice atmosphere. Their potatoes are very tasty (they add peppers and onions to them), they get my egg order right, there is not a lot of hype. One thing I am not fond of (nor is my girlfriend..) is the bathroom. which is basically through / in the kitchen... And its very tight in there also... Other than that it's a very good spot. Great little breakfast diner. Nothing special or fancy here. Syrup in plastic bottles. But we'll executed. Bacon perfectly cooked. Pancakes not too thick so they are cooked the correct amount. All around solid. But the place is very small. So go early to avoid a wait. I heard this place gets crowded but we went early and didn't have any problems. I found myself driving on 4th Street in Long Beach a couple of days ago and spotted their sign. I hadn't been there since the 1970's and, since I had some time before my next meeting, I decided to stop in and see if it was as I remembered. I was not disappointed! The food (yes, an omelet) was delicious, the service was very pleasant, and it was the kind of homey place where you feel comfortable striking up a conversation with another patron. (In this case, turned out to be another horse owner, visiting fro Texas.) I have fairly regular meetings nearby, so I'll be stopping in sooner than forty years from now. ;- ) read more

This place is okay. I did enjoy a greasy sausage and bacon omelette. The cottage cheese they serve is pretty decent. It's not Knudsen, but it's good. They give a mountain of potatoes, but they're not seasoned very well. They taste like boiled, chopped potatoes. If that's what you like, have at it! I admit I am impossibly finicky about how my eggs are cooked. I have been known to send them back if the skin on the bottom is too much. Just finished breakfast here with the boyfriend and for some reason we had never eaten here before, though we eat at a lot of the local breakfast spots. It's a little shabby. Don't expect a chic or hip dining environment, especially compared to other spots in Long Beach. The food is actually delicious and portions are enormous! I had the chorizo scramble and my boyfriend had the breakfast burrito (wet burrito style). My food was SO DAMN GOOD! Potatoes here are so yummy you want to eat last being full. Iced coffee is good here too, thank goodness! (Unlike a few other hole in the wall joints, which pour the hot coffee over ice and you get watery coffee ugh.) The caveats: CASH ONLY!! Yelp says this establishment accepts credit cards. CASH ONLY! That wouldn't be so bad except it's also not inexpensive. Our two plates and two iced coffees with a side of bacon was just under $40. So, if you're not carrying cash, you'll have to take money out and pay the generic ATM fees. All in all, food was wonderful, and there was a sweet and beautiful waitress that helped us (a tall brunette who was super cute and beautiful from head to ). For the price and environment, don't know if it would be my first choice considering there are soooo many great places to eat in LBC with nicer dining decor/environment and equally as great food. read more

This is my favorite breakfast spot (for omelettes and the like) in Long Beach. My favorites: their RAISIN TOAST (thick, toasted and buttered, soft), Mexican Omelette (chunks of sirloin steak), veggie chorizo (always good to minus the bad meat they use in reg. chorizo), oatmeal (the one with cin. sugar, bananas, granola, butter, raisins, and nuts), and their ORANGE JUICE that tastes like the Naked brand, but is not. Food is delicious, all omelette plates are complemented with good hash browns or you can substitute it with fruit. For the health conscious, they give you a choice to cook the omelettes with EGG WHITE. Awesome, huh? A choice I recommend. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
