The new normal, eating out during COVID19. Was running errands early so we decided to grab some breakfast on the way home. We decided to get a Mochi Waffle ($11.50) and Portuguese Sausage Omelette ($11.50). After ordering and paying in the restaurant, you wait outside for them to make your food and call your name when it is ready. I highly recommend calling in your order ahead of time. Our food took about 45 minutes before it was ready. The food was good. Definitely happy we picked up some breakfast on our way home. DO NOT order the rib eye and eggs. I received a NY Strip that was not cooked well and a respectable USDA grade. The steak was tough and difficult to cut with a steak knife. Don't waste your money. If you need proof look at the photos in their menu. You can clearly see some getting a rib eye and some a NY strip. Our French toast was good but they drowned it with whip cream. The dining room is typical of a bright and clean diner. Staff are friendly and efficient. Coffee was regularly refilled without asking. The menu includes the usual breakfast items, many with a nod to Hawaii. My companion ordered the specialty French toast of the day. Later the server apologized that they didn't have all of the ingredients and we needed to make a new selection. When the someone from the kitchen delivered our breakfast, he offered to give us an order of plain French toast for free as an apology for their error. We were happy with the offer, but had plenty of food and declined. Everything was great except, sadly, the eggs. My father was VERY picky about how his over easy eggs were prepared. He always ordered scrambled in restaurants, saying, "Nobody can screw up scrambled eggs." We found the exception to that rule here today. My scrambled eggs we tasteless, overcooked, dry and spongy. I honestly have never had worse scrambled eggs. My partners egg white scramble with veggie plates had over cooked egg whites. The veggies were not quite done and had sweated fair to much water into the eggs. They should have grilled or sautéed before adding to the eggs. The celery was still crisp and not a welcome addition to a breakfast dish. All in all the experience was okay. The service and ambiance were good. Went here when they had the 50th anniversary special! Strawberry pancake was only $3.50 It was definitely worth the price and the 1 hour wait as the portions were decent for the price. Also, the whip cream was tasty! Service was ok. There were about 3 or 4 waitstaff walking around taking orders and refilling water/coffee. They did promptly greet me but weren't the friendliest. (But better than nothing) The only downside was that my water was almost empty but they skipped me and went to the other tables. Ambiance was nothing special but reminded me of an old school diner. One thing they could've told the customers was that you don't have to wait in line if you want to sit at the bar counter. Will be trying the other locations soon! read more

The quality of the service, food, and overall vibe of every Eggs n Things I've been to (4 different locations and counting) has been outstanding. I've gotten a different dish each time, savory, sweet, meaty or starchy, and every single time I am blown away. From the moment you sit down to the moment you walk out the door you are treated with respect and kindness. This is a great place to eat/order from! We were feeling something between breakfast and lunch and this fit the criteria. The food was very plentiful. I had the vegetable omelet with egg whites (no extra cost?) + jalepenos. It was so giant and delicious! I also asked for hot sauce on the side which they delivered it with in a to go ramikin. This is one of my go to spots in Honolulu for a quick breakfast. They always get it right. I discovered my daughter, a Delta Flight Attendant, would be laying over in Honolulu for the first time while I was also laying over in Honolulu. Wow what an extensive menu! There are 2 full pages plus a list of the specials on a rotating slideshow on the tv! For my first time here, I tried a veggie omelet (zucchini, mushroom, spinach and cheese-you can choose from cheddar, mozz or pepperjack...I love pepperjack!) with breakfast potatoes (you can choose other starches including pancakes, but potatoes are my fave food!) The omelet was nicely cooked with the cheese oozing in the middle. The zucchini added a different touch to the normal veggie omelet and the potatoes were nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Nothing special, but they were potatoes and therefore they were delicious. Taylor got the Panasadas (malasada-ish pancakes). They were covered in cinnamon sugar and served with whipped cream! It was definitely more dessert than breakfast! Plus, we mainly went since I saw a coupon in Oahu's Best Coupon Book for a free coconut mochi waffle with purchase of 2 entrees! This waffle is sooo good. After his panasadas, he ate the whole thing (minus a couple bites I had as my tax!) They also gave us coconut syrup and that plus the chewiness of the waffle was delicious! Definitely need to come back to try more things like the homemade lumpia and cheesy puffs! I also saw another table had the garlic shrimp and that looked good too! I used to love going to the Waikiki's Eggs and Thing decades ago when our church had their choir retreat at the near by hotel. When I first heard there was another location being opened near Ala Moana with parking, I was happy. I only been here a few times trying the pancakes and some breakfast orders. Breakfast was my favorite meal of the day until I started skipping on the egg. I do love waffles but lately l've been coming here after years, for their Island fried rice and because they would have to leave this location because it was slated for a new condo! So far, I know they will be here til June at least! Sometimes I crave for Taiyo's pork fried rice next door. They use seasame oil and onions in their fried rice. I do like Eggs and Things Island Style fried rice. There was a variety of meats and vegetables! I even saw chopped fish cakes & mushrooms! It was pretty good but I learned to order ala carte by the scoops and 3 scoops will equal the plate of fried rice, so I don't have to buy the fried rice with egg on the menu. It comes out cheaper especially if you want to get the Kaimaina discount on top of it. You can't get Kaimaina discount if you order online. Remember you can't call in your order. I would just come in and order! Remember theirs a credit card fee. If you like fried rice, this fried rice is worth it. read more

Our waitress was quick to take our order and serve our food. One thing that I have to note is that many of the surrounding businesses have closed down or moved elsewhere. The lot looks deserted. On the plus side, there is an abundance of free parking spaces right outside. You don't need to park at Ala Moana SC. The decor of the restaurant is out-dated, but it's hard to complain about a place with great food and superb service. Also, if you're kamaaina, there is a discount. The crab cake was breaded and had just the right amount of hollandaise sauce on it (read: not swimming in it) and the eggs were perfectly poached. There was so much food, I had just enough room in me to have a little bite of everything with plenty of leftovers for later. First timer at this place. I knocked it down 1 star because of the waitlist. This is something really important to know. IF YOU JOIN THE WAITLIST, YOU NEED TO CHECK IN WITH THE HOST TO LET THEM KNOW YOU'RE THERE WAITING. To me, that doesn't make sense because you can waitlist yourself while you're there from your phone or their iPad that is posted outside the door. Me not knowing this, so many people passed me until I walked in and asked them what happen. That's when they told me you have to check. When you join the waitlist, I don't see an area where it says let the host know you're there. Anyways, the food we ordered was delicious, fresh & plentiful. Of course this menu is super( cheap )good deal menu, they don't have anymore... Server told me, $10 for 3 pancakes 2 eggs and bacons. How nice of her, she suggested me. We tried this place during a recent trip to Oahu. We see the commercials on TV all the time and it always looks so good. Well we were not disappointed. This place gets really busy so if you can plan ahead, making a reservation through Yelp is your best bet. If you can't make a reservation the next best thing is to get on the waitlist ahead of time. That's what we did. The Yelp app tells you how long the wait is at that time so you can decide whether you can wait or not. Initially our wait time was 70 minutes but we were actually seated after about 30 minutes. Everything on the menu looked good so it was hard to choose. I love eating here when I'm feeling breakfast for dinner. It's literally my "go to" at night. It's nice that they stay open late, so it's easy for me to choose to eat here. Let's start with their food. I've been coming quite often lately, probably at least once a week. I've tried the crab benedict, the bacon, spinach, and cheese omelette, the morning wrap, a side of corn beef hash, and the pancakes. I expected the crab benedict to be really good, but I was slightly disappointed. It was a too salty for my taste. Though, the portion size was fair. The bacon, spinach, and cheese omelette was very thin. It seemed as though there was not enough egg to make it an omelette. It was as thin as a crepe. Although it was tasty, I would definitely suggest "beefing" up your omelette and making it fuller. Other than that, save your money and get something else. What I did like was the morning wrap. I get mine with cheddar and bacon and it does not disappoint! It was so good and also comes with a side of salsa. The size was perfect and I saved the other half for breakfast the next day. The corn beef hash was also good. Definitely a great add on to any dish I'd tour choosing. It wasn't salty and had a little crisp to it, which I enjoyed. The pancakes are sooo ono. I love the guava and coconut syrup that they have readily available at the tables. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water.
