I watched the Loco Moco pass by and the Plantation pork chop smelled delicious...but the Pancake stack looked AMAZING with the fresh fruit and whipped cream!! What to order...Coffee first which sounds simple but it was rich, very caffeinated and tasty!! OK, I decided on the Morning Wrap with SPAM!!! It is essentially a breakfast Burrito Panini!...It was FANTASTIC!! (I recommend the extra Jalapeños)! I am stuffed to the gills and completely satiated and ready to tackle the day!! Whenever I'm in the area near this Eggs 'n Things location, there is always a line of people waiting outside. That's always a good sign. They serve breakfast all day so I decided to try this place for lunch on a Saturday. They were still busy during lunch but they have lots of seating inside. I ended up sitting at the counter though. I was super hungry so I ended up ordering multiple items. I ordered the Eggs Benedict Florentine, with a side order of pancakes and bacon. Everything was so delicious, I barely was able to finish it all. Service was good and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely come here again. Best part of this place that they serve breakfast all day. If you come in the morning, keep in mind that there are a lot of tourists that come here, so be prepared to wait. read more

Its called the "Hawaiian Acai Bowl", and is kind of geared towards their visitor market. Lots of fruit and what not, but i wouldn't go as far as calling it an "Acai Bowl". There's a special place in my heart for Eggs 'n Things, because I used to live across the street from the Waikiki location, and would stop by regularly for breakfast after work at the clubs. The service here was so great! Upon arrival, the host made sure I was seated promptly. Parking isn't the best but the wait definitely goes fast. The waitress was rude and didn't make eye contact. She didn't refill the very tiny cup of coffee until my husband asked and they charge almost $3 for it. We had a spinach and mushroom omelet which we had to pay for cheese. And the whole thing was skinnier than a pancake. The old eggs and things was huge and stuffed. Eggs 'n Things... you think my eggs would be cooked on point since it's in their name... but sadly... no. Maybe this place was hyped in my mind because it's my one cheat day, and I've been very good. I was ready with my game plan and wanted Crab Cake Benedict until I got there and the server told me they use imitation crab (thank you server for the tip), this threw me off - I had no back up. After the rest of my party ordered, she came back around to me and all I could blurt out was bacon (extra crispy), eggs (over easy), and home fries. Service was super friendly and courteous. Water and coffee were consistently filled. Food came out quickly. These were the highlights. Fantastic highlights because really, the server was super fantastic! And often service is what ends up spoiling a meal. But not here. The food is what I was sorely disappointed with. And I really don't like leaving bad reviews. EGGS: NOT over easy (as ordered). It was more like over hard. The best part of over easy eggs is breaking through and having the runny yolk creating a yummy sauce mixed with my ketchup and tabasco. FAIL #1. BACON: NOT crispy. When I order bacon crispy at other places (ie: Flamingo or Koa) the fatty white parts are rendered leaving behind crispy crunchy porky deliciousness. This was not what was delivered. It was crispy enough - but had soggy floppy non-rendered fatty white parts, only ate one of the four strips that came with the plate. Here hubby, you can eat the other three. Bleh FAIL #2. HOME FRIES: Seasoned home potatoes. Tasted like Orieda (which is fine - I like frozen Orieda breakfast potatoes)... what I didn't like was that they weren't hot. Nothing on my plate was. FAIL #3. My hubby got a Hawaiian Loco Moco. A traditional Loco moco has steamed rice, hamburger patty, brown gravy, and over easy eggs. What made it "Hawaiian" - is the addition of mushrooms, onions and diced portugese sausage. Again his eggs were more over hard - so no satisfaction with spilling runny egg yolk. The hamburger patty had a great char (hubby said too much char and the taste got tiring toward the end). The best part for me was the gravy mixed with the mushrooms and onions in a perfect bite with rice. I left feeling really sad - especially since this was my first cheat meal after a week of being REALLY good... and I mean REALLY GOOD! Which elevated my disappointment. The best of what I've had there was the pancakes. But tonight's experience was a huge loser. Our out of town guests had gotten lost on the way to the restaurant, but Eggs 'n Things' policy is not to seat you until the whole party is there. So even though there were lots of available tables on what turned out to be a slow night, no exceptions. And no, we didn't ask; we just languished there in the waiting area and none of the staff ever checked on us. Next, we ordered items we should have known not to order at a breakfast spot -- lumpia (the pick of one of our guests, so of course we went there) and spam fries (wth?). The lumpia were average, but there just weren't enough of them; the spam fries were novel but kind of nasty. But the kicker was ordering something off the menu -- french toast with strawberries and whipped cream. They serve pancakes in that style, but not french toast. But someone in our party really had a hankering for it, and the server obliged. The french toast was okay, but the strawberries were the frozen kind, and the overall effect was mediocre. But when the check came and the french toast was a whopping $17.45, I was very unhappy. It's not that they can't charge extra per item, but I would have appreciated some warning from the server (e.g. "Yes, we can do that for you, but it's going to come out to $17+; is that okay?"). NO -- it would not have been okay. But what can you do? Apparently, the cost of the strawberries and whipped cream is somewhere in the menu... In the end, that was $40 for two appetizers (one which wasn't any good at all) and one entree (french toast). That will never happen again because we won't ever come back to this place. Yeah, I know it's a thing for Japanese tourists, but it's just not all that. Parking in the lot is free, but not plentiful on a Friday evening. My verdict: take your money elsewhere. I finally got to go here with a friend to catch up. We went for lunch on a weekend and although it was busy, we were seated almost as soon as we came in. The waiter we had was overly friendly lol. It was a Saturday morning when my mother called me, waking me from my slumber, asking if I wanted to go grab brunch with her at the new "Eggs N' Things" near Ala Moana. At the mere mention of Eggs N Things, I perked up and was out of the house in a flash. The menu showcases the similar fare that you have come to expect from its Waikiki location with a plethora of omelets, eggs, pancakes, and more. The large specials menu that dominates its walls should not be overlooked. I opted for their omelet special with pancakes and found the omelet to be a hodgepodge of cooking. On one hand, the eggs were well cooked with the right level of crispness, however the tomatoes, cheese, and canadian bacon that was inside was a tad cold and undercooked. The pancakes on the other hand were well executed with pillowy circles that were airy and flavorful. Topped with butter and their syrups are a winning combination of complex carbohydrates. Service was generally good. The wait staff clearly know their menu and were incredibly friendly and helpful. However, their attentiveness could use a little work. Our coffee cups went empty on occasion sad to say. However they were incredibly busy. Located right next to Nijiya, the parking lot probably isn't as large enough to accommodate all of the businesses there, so plan a few extra minutes to park your car. Its ambiance is comfortable and homey, however the tables are rather close to each other so that it can almost be called a communal dining experience. It is still new and definitely working its kinks out, but I definitely will have to come back and check it out again when its fully up and running! I am also the first review :) Third location on Oahu opened today (October 18, 2012). I was great by a warm reception, hostesses were dressed in Aloha shirts and warm friendly smiles. Nicely decorated in a mustard yellow and chocolate brown on the inside of the reataurant. There were 6 large booths, located on the left side of the restaurant and about 15 small tables in the main dining area. The furniture and tables were nicer than the type at Koa Pancade and Boots and Kimo (Kailua). Definitely more classy, and a great destination for breakfast after church on Sunday. On the right side of Eggs and Things is comfortable waiting area, which is well designed for occupying their take out customers as well as people on the "standby list. They got most of the "bugs" out of the operation, prior to their soft opening today. The hostess, waistresses and kitchen were ready today! Unfortunately, the cashier at the counter looked experienced, but fumbled with the cash register and had trouble taking my take out order. They have an excellent, GM, Michael who was very friendly and he was visible during their new opening. He needed to step to handle a customer who was over charged. Okay, back to the food review.... I ordered the Crabcake eggs benedict and an order of their macnut waffle. The crabcake benedict was a generous portion of two crab cakes, which were more like canned corned beef hash with imiation crab. You have the choice of hard, medium, or soft and runny poached eggs. This was something different, I selected the medium poached style, which blended well with thier yummy hollandaise sauce. Another different twist for this menu item, was the sourdough english muffin. This added some kick to a wonderful eggs benedict! They also give you the option of starch: rice, hash browns or pancakes. I choose their hash browns, which were crispy cubes of potatoes. Overall, excellent crabcake eggs benedict! Their macnut waffles was a bit overpriced at $10.95 for a single crispy waffle, completely covered by chopped macademia nuts and powdered, white sugar. This was tasty, but I was expecting something that could compete with Boots and Kimo or Cinnamons. This was a good waffle, but not better than the two Kailua Restaurants noted. Came here for a late breakfast and to my surprise, this place was much different from the waikiki one. I had only been to the waikiki one, which apparently is an express version, so to my surprise, this one was an actual restaurant. It's fairly big, and we got seated pretty quickly. They have the same menu, with breakfast being the main focus. The also had some dinner items with chicken and others, but mostly pancakes, waffels, eggs and meat. I got the corned beef hash with eggs. It was the canned corned beef (which is what I love best! aka guilty pleasure) and not homemade. It was pretty yummy, with my mixture of tabasco sauce and ketchup. The pancakes were also fluffy and pretty decent. Overall its a pretty good place to get breakfast at odd hours. It is a big touristy spot though, with lots of Japanese tourists lined up to eat here. They do give you a 5% kamaaina discount with ID though! read more

After seeing an ad in the paper about this Alamoana location opening, I decided to give them another try. It's not Waikiki so it shouldn't be too busy, right? They just had their soft opening a few days ago. They are located right next to Chodang & sits where I Love Country Cafe used to be. Got here a little after 3pm yesterday (a Saturday) & I was pretty happy there was no wait to be seated. Although the restaurant was not even 40% occupied, they sat us right next to 2 other guests. I thought it was strange because there were so many empty tables. It was two separate tables however it is closely pulled together so it was pretty much like we were on the same one. Their menu is extensive and they serve non breakfast entrees after 12pm. I like the fact that there is an egg icon next to the more popular dishes so you don't necessarily have to ask your server what's good here. I ordered the spinach, bacon, cheese omelet. You get a choice of cheddar, mozzarella, or pepper jack for your cheese. & a choice of pancakes, rice, or potatoes. I went for pepperjack and potatoes. The omelet was very good and very cheesy. I loved the salsa type sauce it came with. My omelet was a bit spicy & I'm not sure if it was because of the cheese or the sauce. The potatoes were extra crispy & flavorful. I did think they could have thrown a little more potatoes on the plate. For $11.95 the portion size was decent. The restaurant is spacious and everything is brand new. The service was good although I did get busted by our waiter for bringing in my Starbucks drink (my fault). He asked to take it away and leave it in their refrigerator. This place is kind of pricey for the quality & quantity you get. They gave us a 10% kamaaina discount, so it does make up for the kind of steep prices. I will definitely be back here to try their other breakfast items. If you're on a budget though you can always take a few steps over to Taiyo or Chodang. It has a down to earth, local diner vibe and there was no wait despite our uber driver's warnings that is a touristy place. First let me say that we have been eating at this Eggs n Things location since it opened years ago. In the last couple of years, we have eaten here about every other week. The food is good, and the wait staff is like family, genuine, caring, and competent. Our problem with this latest visit, on Mother's Day no less, and some smaller issues we've had, have all come in the past year or so, with the arrival of an unfriendly manager, named Marshall Dang. (Spelling? I only know his name because I looked at his name tag today!) We have seen this manager, and interacted with him over the course of about 20-30 visits. He never smiles, and has never once expressed appreciation for being regular customers or said anything at all to acknowledge that we see him almost weekly. We have chalked it up to him just being a serious person, and it hasn't really bothered us because the rest of the staff is so friendly and welcoming. However, today we went there for breakfast for Mother's Day, and it was fairly busy - no problem. Sat down, ordered the food, and waited. Our french toast, pancakes, and waffles came out in a reasonable of time, and the quality was good as usual. However, our sides of bacon and spam came out about 15 minutes later, when we were almost finished with the other food. Not a huge deal, the kitchen was busy and probably had some issues with meat. But the spam, while piping hot, was not cooked well, which made it mushy and inedible. As we were pretty much done anyway, we asked for the check and mentioned it to our server, expecting they would just remove it from the bill. (We did not eat it) I watched our server go ask the manager to credit the spam and he looked at our table and told the server no! When the bill came, the spam was still on the bill. We went ahead and paid the bill, and mentioned to the teller (Samantha) , who we see every week that we would likely not be coming back and she was shocked. I explained I was so hurt that the manager -Marshall Dang- would think that charging us for a poorly prepared and exceedingly late plate of spam would be too much to grant a family of 4 who comes to eat in "his" restaurant almost weekly. We are not a family who complains, and we eat out frequently. We have our favorite spots, and Eggs n Things at Ala Moana was by far our favorite for breakfast. There are a lot of stalls but not only are you sharing the lot with 3 other businesses, I'm insinuating some illegal parking of nearby employees use this parking lot as well. The staff were very courteous. We were seated in no time and that's a great thing because I've waited to nearly half hour or more at the other location. Food is very basic. I mean I don't see how anyone can screw up breakfast. I had the crab cake benedict and it didn't "wow" me; it was alright. My muffin was very hard and over toasted. It was difficult to cut through. My husband, on the other-hand, enjoyed his fried rice as did our friend with her peaches and sour cream crepe. Will definitely be back to improve my experience. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. With all the popularity I guess maybe I had my hopes too high. My experience was nothing more than mediocre. I had their plantation iced tea to drink and perhaps I should just give up ordering it but it was very watered down to me. I didn't like it and ended up not finishing it. For my food I ordered the veggie omelet, which according to their menu was one of their popular items. It was bland and had no taste.. I had to smother it in ketchup in order to taste anything.. Disappointing. I ordered it with a side of their also popular strawberry pancakes for extra. It was three pancakes with a mound of whipped cream sprinkled with macnuts. It must've been about half a foot high... I'm not a fan of whipped cream so I ended up discarding most of it. The pancakes themselves were okay. Nothing to die for. The only plus was I really liked their coconut syrup. The guava one was so so. Id probably use regular syrup over the guava. Service was also mediocre. You order at your table and pay at the front. Apparently there's a kamaaina discount? I could be mistaken. I didn't use it though because I had an ID card (10% off before 4, 20% off after 4). Would I come back? Maybe for their dinner menu. Have been here more than a few times in the past. Really enjoyed its loco moco, pancakes, waffles, etc. but this time we tried banana crepe and somehow. I was not pleased because it didn't taste like the crepe I had at the Shirokiya Food Village at Ala Moana Shopping Center; I like Shirokiya much better. This place has great services and friendly staff. It gets very busy at times, particularly during normal meal hours, so customers can expect to wait before being seated. read more

Me and my son went for breakfast. This location is always busy. Which I knew it's a Japanese tourist destination. He had the sourcream and strawberry crepes. He said he wish it had more strawberrys. I like to write good reviews for places that have bad overall ratings, so here's my contribution to Eggs 'n Things because they definitely deserve more than a 2.5. First of all, EnT specializes in breakfast, duh. If you want a classy night out and you expect to eat dinner food, EnT isn't the logical choice. Secondly, if you go midmorning when everyone is awake and wants to eat EnT, you shouldn't expect to breeze in and get a table immediately. When in doubt, call ahead to ask how long the wait is, duh. Third, when it is busy and you do get a table, don't expect the food to come in, like, 5 minutes. Yes, they're cooking eggs, but try cooking omelets for 120 people then come back and tell me you'll have my food out in 5 minutes. Fourth, I think Yelp should erase all the reviews written when it first opened. I've read a fair number of 1-star reviews and I disagree with 90% of them. The service is always above par and the food seems to be consistent in quality and taste. Why, then, did I give them "only" 4 stars? Because of the prices. If you want to order an omelet (fresh mushroom, brown rice, salsa yummmm) and waffles (chocolate chip, no nuts, with whip!), you'll pay over $20. The food tastes good, though, and even though I ordered my omelet with egg whites, the portion was equivalent to what my brother got with whites + yolks. (Hallelujah they don't discriminate against the healthy peeps). I love that it's owned by Japanese people because there are so many tourists who make it a part of their trip to Hawaii. read more

Eggs & things is located in the same shopping area as Nijiya Market by Ala Moana but it's next to chodangs. We came here about 10:30am and it was a little busy. We put our name down for two and got sat in about 15 minutes. The place is spacious & very clean. Service: was really good. The hostess and our server were very friendly to us. Our server constantly made sure our drinks were filled. Food: I had the crab benedict with the side of potatoes. (You have a choice of pancakes, rice or brunch potatoes) and my fiancé got the ribeye steak and eggs. My Benedict was really good, I was expecting the usual crab to be on top but it's actually fried in breading then put on top of a bun with hollandaise sauce on top with a poached egg. The steak was ordered medium but it came out overcooked, it was a little tough and the seasoning was way too overpowering (we got the salt & pepper seasoning). Drinks: I ordered their hot coffee. It's really good! And my fiancé ordered the fruit punch. I'm assuming it's bottomless because our server kept refilling it. Overall experience: it was pretty good. My friend didn't receive her food on time and when it was given to her, it was the wrong order. It was sent back to the kitchen to be replaced but it took such a long time to get back at our table that the rest of our group already finished their food when hers arrived. She ended up getting it in a to-go box. When we were paying for the food, my friend was charged with two omelettes, the first order that was a mistake and the second one which was her original order. We were accused of not paying for an omelette but when we explained the situation, it was remedied. One of my other friends also found a hair in her Hawaiian Loco Moco and lost her appetite to eat. Had the Golden Wells macadamia waffles, menu says thin and crispy......yeah my foot!! Thin and tasteless it should be listed as well as wait time. Just ordered one waffle and it took 30 min. Oh yeah and some coffee which we had to ask several times to get another cup. Waitress says that they are busy but seen some chairs open........hm. Sounds like an excuse to me! Was staying at a nearby hotel and was looking for a good breakfast place with fried rice. This place didn't disappoint and I'm eager to come back. Went with a fair sized party but during their off hours (before the clubs close apparently). Plenty of room but no parking so you may have to park at Ala Moana. Good service but we were almost the only ones there at the moment so that helps. Large menu selection full of local style comfort food alongside a myriad of egg dishes. Eggs benedict and side of 3 small pancakes were great. Huge portions. Canadian bacon was a bit salty, but eggs were expertly cooked. 3 small extremely fluffy pancakes as a side. 4 stars for the amount of food for the price. read more
