I had high hopes for this place based on the star ratings. Two stars for the staff, they were very courteous, however, the food was bland and lacking in flavor. Very small portion sizes, wafer thin chicken, the hash browns were soft and lukewarm, the grits were full of butter, and the biscuits were ok. We came here for breakfast during Spring Break. It was crowded for 11am on a weekday. My boys got Fried Chicken and Waffles, Smoked Salmon Benedict and I got the Berry Energy Bowl. Landed at Eggsellent Cafe about noon for a midday breakfast. Had great attentive service from start to finish, which only made the food taste even better. My man ordered the Santa Fe skillet (very good) and I had the bacado omelet (bacon and avocado and swiss--yummy). With the addition of the house hot sauce (a peppery paprika flavored sauce), our savory dishes tasted great. We side-loaded with an order of french (texas) toast and chocolate chip pancakes. All of our choices arrived at our table in good time, served warm and very delicious. My only qualm is that they need to add stevia packets to the sweetener selections. Wow what a great breakfast place! You would think it's a hidden gem, but it was packed at 9am on a Saturday morning. We put our name in and were told it was a 10-15 minute wait, 5 minutes later it was our turn to be seated. Everything was so good! You must try the biscuit and gravy omelet if you like biscuits and gravy for breakfast. It has biscuits and cheese inside the eggs/omelet and then covered in gravy. My husband practically scrapped his plate clean. The avocado benedict was great as well, so buttery and the bacon pieces on top is a great touch. Wow! We visited this morning and were blown away! The decor was cute and clean. The menu is huge! I got the cinnamon French toast and substituted the bacon for hash browns. The cinnamon French toast had so much flavor! And the hash browns were the best hash browns I've ever had. Plus my eggs were cooked perfectly. My husband got the chorizo omelet, and pumpkin pancakes and loves his as well. Portions were huge. We are so excited to have such a great breakfast place nearby! We won't be going anywhere else!
