Pretty tasty, a brilliant concept for a breakfast sandwich, and excellent branding, but for $7.67 the Fairfax scrambled egg sandwich doesn't live up to the hype. It's gooey and monotonous - everything is fatty and mushy; the square cardboard "Eggslut" bag is the most substantial thing, and everything else just fell apart. I thought their mayo was overly fatty, there was not enough substance to the caramelized onions (my sandwich only had four tiny pieces!), and their brioche has wayyyyy too much butter. I can envision it much better with bacon added, but then it'd break $10. I've made the sandwich with a TJ's brioche, bottom-shelf eggs, home-grown chives, individually wrapped cheese, off-brand mayo, (and Sriracha and onions) and yeah, the sandwich design is excellent. Did it for the 'gram! Haha I'm sure a majority of the people who come here do so as well . We came via Uber and it was a good decision. Street parking is VERY limited and it gets very busy on the weekends. This Eggslut is located in a food market with other food stands available . None nearly as busy as this one. We were a little confused how and where to order. We figured the line that wrapped around the stand / open seating area was it. Very hot inside, minimal airflow . A menu floats through the crowd in case you don't know what to order . Highly recommend knowing what you want before you get there...since you have PLENTY of time to decide. Took over an hour to finally get to the register to order. Person working the register was super friendly granting she was working non stop . Placed our order , provided my name and waited 15 mins for it to be called. Pick up the food where the line starts . Some seating inside and outside . Sandwich was good. We decided to come here on a Tuesday and Yes there was a long line, and i am guessing that its like this all the time. To finally put in the order it took about 30 mins, so if you are super hungry i suggest either go earlier or go somewhere. i wanted to come here to know what the hype was all about. Food: When seeing the online menu, just be cautious that certain online items are not served at this location but instead at the other one. So just read the fine print. They have limited options not that much variety in both food or drinks. The burgers that they have are actually pretty good and tasty, it is not something out of this world but its pretty good for what they make. The eggs were made to perfection and the right amount of food was given too. The have poached eggs, which looks pretty cool and I will try that next time. To find seating here it is a bit difficult, the courtesy is that you cannot sit at the counter unless you have your food already. But if you are not able to find seating there, which I am guessing you won't most of the time, then there is seats outside or somewhere around the market. I have heard of Eggslut from other for quite some time now, so when I was staying at a nearby hotel, I knew I had to take advantage of the opportunity and finally give it a try. For a place so popular, and based on other yelpers reviews, I did my homework. My boyfriend and I made sure to come to the Grand Central Market right when Eggslut opened to ensure we were at the front of the line. If there's one thing I dislike, it's waiting for a long period of time to eat when I'm hungry (but really... who does?). So pro tip #1... if you have the flexibility, make sure you get here a little before the place opens. By the time it opened at 8am, there were at least 15 people behind my boyfriend and I in line. When it was time for us to place our orders, I ended up choosing their bacon, egg, and cheddar sandwich and my boyfriend went big and got the fairfax with added bacon and avocado. BOTH did not disappoint! Our eggs were cooked to perfection and the brioche bun was the best. My only regret is that there was an end to my sandwich. There's only so many ways you can prepare an egg sandwich, I wondered how this one became popular with Angelenos. Comparing Eggslut to other breakfast spots, I didn't see many differences apart from the brioche bun and provocative name. But after a visit, it was honestly pretty good. I probably won't come back often, but I'm glad I tried it. The store is located inside Grand Central Market, along with several other eateries to choose from. Trying to find parking nearby is a hassle, but there are several parking garages around the area. Once you overcome that obstacle, embrace yourself for a long wait. The day I came, the line encompassed the eating area behind Eggslut and started next to the pick-up counter on the other side. Waiting to order wasn't too bad, but the wait to pick up the order felt pretty long. I do have to note that this is the first eating place I've been to that actively checks ID for credit/debit cards. There's a few counter seats in the front, and tables in the back. Even though the menu was limited, there are many excellent choices. I was originally going to order the Slut, but I wanted something a little more filling, so I ended up ordering the Fairfax for $7. Granted, I could probably make this at home at half the cost with some effort, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a decent sandwich. I may never truly understand Los Angelinos, but these past two years have taught me something about their Yelping - getting seen standing in line is an actual thing here. Take for example, Egg Slut in Grand Central Market. Their line is an hour long at times on the weekend, while other fairly decent places in the market have no wait. Their sandwiches are not bad, but they're not worth an hour wait and the total lack of service you get when allow yourself to be 'assembled' on production line is disappointing. Of course it's not Yelp's fault (or maybe it is) that Yelpers in the GLA area have very poor taste in all of the elements that combine to make a great restaurant. It's not Yelp's fault that it people in this town are more interested in getting seen standing in line at Egg Slut in Grand Central Market, than in the fact that their sandwiches are only marginally good, while everything else is not good at all (like standing in line for an hour for a mediocre sandwich). I would like to issue a wakeup call to my fellow Yelpers, but I know I would be wasting my time. "Being seen" is what so many Los Angelinos must be hungry for, because it certainly is not good food or service. Or maybe this wakeup call should go to Yelp? Maybe Yelp needs to create a category for ratings that includes "Places to be Seen", and is rated by a completely separate scale. I think one of the best food in Grand Central Market is definitely Egg Slut. It's a great breakfast / brunch food. Order the burger and the orange juice, best combination! I'm glad we came earlier than planned because I swear we waited in line for 45 mins. I haven't had this since the last time I went to Vegas. Fairfax ($7) Absolutely love their scrambled eggs - it is SO fluffy, slightly runny just the way I like it, and the chives definitely make a difference. (Probably was made with a lot of butter given how fluffy it is). I mean look at the sandwich, the eggs are drooling out. Along with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and sriracha mayo served in a bun; you can also ask to have it served in a biscuit instead of a bun.
