Philly Cheesesteak
Chandler J.

Back again but this time I went for the Philly Cheesesteak Omelet. Once again everything was delicious! It's everything you expect from a Philly but in omelet form. The steak was cooked to perfect, plenty of eggs and cheese, and just the right amount of green peppers and onions to balance it out. The breakfast potatoes are also great. I could eat a whole plate of them on their own. They know what they're doing at this place!

This was my family's weekend spot once upon a time. Nice to go somewhere familiar where there's weekly specials for drink and entrees. Lox and creamy goat cheese skillet/ Mexican-spiced mocha: salmon and seasoned potatoes were very good. There was goat cheese but it didn't seem like a creamy sauce. Still the dish was good. The espresso was also good and it was delivered how I ordered with light ice. The eggs Benedict and same seasoned potatoes were also good. It was also good to see our old bar tend.. Greg. Everyone including our waitress Elasia was personable and friendly!

Amazing time here on Sunday with some friends and my wife. We got sat for a party of 5 within 10 minutes of being there (called ahead of time so if you have a large party I recommend that). I got the Philly Cheesesteak skillet which was really good! Nothing was too overwhelming with the assortment of what was in it which I think is great because everything mixed well. My wife did the Crepe creation of bacon, cheese, onions, and peppers and hers tasted great! Everyone I went with had a great first experience overall.

Southwest Benny

Been here a couple times now. First time we walked from where we were staying on the plaza. It was maybe a 20m walk. This time we drove. Had no issues with parking on a Saturday at 1030am. My boys and I got the Southwest Benny. Wife got classic benny on GF toast. It never disappoints. Service was great as always.

This place is awesome! Fast and friendly service on a busy Sunday morning, and an incredible selection of food. I did the lox and goat cheese skillet with over easy eggs, and it was delicious, and a perfectly sized portion. I also had a honey latte as well, which was amazing!

I checked this place out for the first time during 2025 Restaurant Week, being my first time checking out this restaurant I didn't know what to expect. I ordered a hot Chia latte which came out in a huge cup. Having tried Chia at several places in town I found that the flavor was very well and probably one of the better flavored ones in the area. For the food I ordered a cinnamon roll, not only was this the size of an appetizer plate, but it was very fluffy and soft. flavor was a very good and had just the right amount of frosting over it. My main corse I got the Southwestern benny, The chorizo gravy was amazing!! I got the fruit cup with it for my side and I had to take 1/2 of it home for later. Together the brisket was soft and a perfect mix. I will defiantly go back and eat here some more.

Food was pretty good. I would get mine again, but it was not FANTASTIC! Service was decent and ambiance just felt like a classic little Midwest place. It was pretty large inside as well. Good spot for quick sit down morning breakfast.

We love coming here for breakfast. The service is always excellent. The wait is usually minimal. The ambience is super casual. I love their Mexican Mocha. The eggs Benedict's are great. The potatoes are delicious.

This place has a giant menu. Great service, big portions, and tasty food. Really cozy almost diner feel inside.

Nova Scotia Lox...Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon...eggs-cellent!

Perhaps KC's most iconic, best, and most-loved breakfast/lunch restaurant, Eggtc has been at this location for 18 years. Yovana, my server, was excellent, and like most everyone who works here, she's a longtime employee. They clearly inspire loyalty in both their customers and their staff, which seems to be a rarity in today's world. Ambience is like a good neighbor... been around a while, comfortably familiar, reliable, and friendly! The decor is eclectic, and I'm not sure it's ever been updated, but you'll feel right at home. The menu is full of diverse, interesting, and delicious options, and includes everything from the most down-home traditional breakfasts and sandwiches to some very creative offerings. I love their Nova Scotia Lox Eggs Benedict. I'm not a big fan of poached eggs, but here you can have them cooked any way you want, which might horrify any Eggs Benedict purist. Born and bred in KC, Eggtc. is not a chain restaurant, and has just two locations, both in the KC Metro area. This one is very near the Country Club Plaza, another Kansas City icon.

Came to Kansas City over the recent holidays to visit some friends, and Beer Kitchen came as a…read morelocal recommended place. Good food, good vibes, good beer selection, I was sold. So we loaded up and showed up one day around Noon. Ambiance was really cool. It's in the middle of some sort of progressive looking shanty-esque suburb. The kind of place that does drag queen bingo. I was right at home. Inside was college sport bar, but with a nice, huge board on the wall of all their beer selection. It Was quite expansive. Service was top notch, too. Nice server took care of us, made sure our glasses were never empty. The food came out at a good clips, and we got an unexpected bonus of free little beignet-like donuts with some delicious dipping sauces. As for food, we started off with a jumbo order of the Truffle Parmesan Hand-Cut Fries for the table. We got to choose two from their extensive list of aioli dipping sauces. Fries were good. Dusted with the perfect amounts of truffle and parmesan. And the sauces were my oh my. I recommend paying the upcharge to just try them all. I mentioned the time earlier, because we had no idea we were stumbling upon their brunch menu. Even more options to choose from! I got the Crispy Waffle Smash Burger (smashed hertzog beef patties, fried egg, smoked bacon, merkt's cheddar, caramelized onion, maple aioli, crispy buttermilk waffle). This thing was really nice. Perfect waffle, not too small, not too big, and no oily or anything obtrusive. A nice bun option. Eggs and bacon sometime get lost against giant burger patties, but with these smash patties, the extra accoutrements really stand out and make this burger really stand out in my mind. I also for the try the Smokestack Burger (smoked burnt ends, smoked gouda, whiskey bbq glaze, pickle relish, chipotle aioli & crispy jalapeño straws). Uhhh, as you can read, this thing was loaded with goodness. Fatty burger, smokey burnt ends, sweet boozy glaze, acidic pickles, and texture from that jalapeno. This was the perfect burger. I insist you order this. Overall, my research did not reveal Beer Kitchen to me, locals recommendation did. Shows that you gotta use your street smarts instead of your book smarts sometimes. The food was very good the flavor was on point and my favorite was the hash browns they were buttery and crunchy. My wife and I shared the meat lovers breakfast burrito and it was good size and filled with the filling. The sauce on top had a little kick to it but that could have been the veggies on top, but would get it again. Our friend got the breakfast enchiladas and said it was very good, she likes the green sauce over the red. I didn't personally try so I can't say how it was. My son ordered the traditional breakfast, and that's exactly what it was, but he liked it. The pancakes are the size of the plate and had a fluffy center and crispy edges. We did have to ask for more syrup because they were so big. The only reason it was not a 5 was because I felt the waitress could have been around more. I felt that since we had a group of 7 and the gratuity was already added she didn't worry about it. Our waters went empty and we had to ask a different waiter for more water and syrup, when she came over the water was warm and didn't have any ice. A kid spilled her syrup we went and asked for a rag and we cleaned it up which we expected but we had to flag someone down to see if she could get more syrup. I just felt she wasn't as attractive as she could have been. We went there on a Monday around 9:45, so it wasn't extremely busy. I would say that you should try it, it was good food!

The restaurant interior is a combination of both rustic and elegance. Our server was attentive and so sweet! For the appetizer, we ordered the whipped goat cheese. Even if you don't like plain goat cheese, like my husband, trust me, you'll like this. It has a honey mixture on top that makes the goat cheese all the more addicting! It is accompanied by DELICIOUS crusty bread, salad that tastes like it is mixed with a SAVORY sweet onion vinaigrette, and prosciutto. For entrees, I ordered the regular friend chicken sandwich with a side of fries. As I am from the South, I am VERY picky about my fried chicken. As far as restaurant fried chicken goes, this is THE best fried chicken I've ever eaten! The skin was thick and crispy and the chicken breast was very juicy! Not greasy at all. The condiment is a spicy aioli, which was not too spicy (a good thing). It also comes with a pickled cucumber and onion salad that was addicting. The sandwich has one of my favorite types of lettuce: Bibb. The fries were PERFECTLY crispy and seasoned. My husband ordered the fried chicken, which comes with mashed potatoes and gravy and a salad. He loved his meal and said his fried chicken was also the best. The mashed potatoes, which of course I had to try, were so buttery and the prime example of why it is a comfort food. NA options are still considered an afterthought at a lot of bars, but that is absolutely not the case here. I tried several mocktails and every single one was thoughtfully made and full of flavor. The Deep Fake Eddy was a standout -- bright, citrusy, and very reminiscent of a grapefruit margarita. I also loved the Turmeric Tonic, which had such a great balance of earthy turmeric, citrus, and a subtle kick from cayenne. It tasted elevated and adult, not overly sweet or juice-forward. The Piña Nolada was creamy, tropical, and refreshing, and worked really nicely as a contrast after a couple citrus-forward drinks. Overall, the menu felt intentional and well curated rather than a token NA offering. A huge shoutout to Selah, my bartender -- incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and clearly passionate about the drinks. She made great recommendations and really enhanced the experience. If you're sober, sober-curious, or just looking for a place that takes zero-proof drinks seriously, Pressed Penny Tavern is doing something really special.
