Our breakfast was delicious, plentiful and served warm and quickly to us. Highly recommend this place for breakfast and/or lunch.

They have spaced out outdoor seating and their service is outstanding. That, coupled with the delicious food, makes it the perfect breakfast and/or brunch spot. The whole staff is very careful, wears masks, exhibits proper social distancing practices and is respectful of guests' personal space. It's great to see business being able to adopt and be flexible during these difficult times. The service was absolutely amazing even when they were packed with long wait times. They made sure to check in with everyone constantly and were very responsive, even to special requests. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and made our experience that much better. Lastly, the food was on point. We had the 8AM and the avocado toast three way. All the ingredients were fresh, the presentation was beautiful, and while the dish may appear simple, it was executed perfectly. The avocado was left to be seasoned to your own liking (they provided salt and pepper), the egg was nice and runny, the tomato was fresh, and the bacon was nice and crispy. The accompanying fruits really added to the dish. Overall, I'd recommend this place for a wonderful Sunday brunch! read more

I suppose the idea is to get you to eat, then GTFO. Because the food is delicious, and the service is friendly. But the chairs are low level torture. Awful metal stools with no backs and no support or cushioning. Rivaled only by the austere (read: zero effort) decor. I could handle the lackluster walls and would have given this place 5 stars as an excellent breakfast place with really lovely service. But I took 2 stars away because the chairs are that bad. Nice little spot near the Wharf. I would definitely recommend coming here for breakfast instead of the touristy/expensive Buena Vista. Food came out quick, servers were very friendly. We got: 1. 1PM banana crepe w/nutella: Very good. Almost too much stuff on the plate. It was stuffed with cut bananas, had bananas and strawberries on top. 2. Haight Ashbury Fritatta: A veggie scramble with swiss cheese on top. Excellent! A nice mix of cut up veggies. It was huge and comes with potatoes. In addition, there was one of the nicest fruit bowls I've ever had. It had a wonderful selection of cut, fresh fruit. Amazing. 3. Avocado Toast 3 ways: This was a huge portion as well. Order: * French Toast with Berry Compote * Haight Ashbury Pros: * Very friendly service. These guys clearly care about providing good service, which I really appreciate. * Hot, light and fluffy French toast with plenty of sauce and berries, enough to have a berry with every bite, as it should be. Cons: * The compote was a bit runny for my taste. I prefer my compote to be thicker so it doesn't melt with the heat of the French toast. I don't like overly sweet items, but this could have used a bit of sweetener. With that said, dipping each bite in to the accompanying maple syrup gave it the right balance. * I love whipped cream with my French toast, waffles, pancakes, etc., but this dish really requires fresh-made whipped cream which would be stiff enough to hold up to the hot French toast. Within five minutes, all my whipped cream had melted. * The Haigh Ashbury was largely bland. I thought it needed more seasoning and perhaps could have benefitted from the veggies being sautéed a bit before combining in to the egg mixture. Comments: * We came here because of the high yelp rating and as we were looking around, we couldn't help but wonder if this was a touristy spot and now that I'm sitting down to write this and looking at the most recent page of reviews, I see that we may not have been far off. It's a strange observation to make because why should it matter? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I really want to give this place a high score because of the employees, but I can't help shake the feeling that it's overall somewhat unremarkable. Absolutely loved Eight AM! I had the Russian Hill Fritta with sausage and cheese. It came with a fruit salad and potatoes. It was a really filling and delicious breakfast and the staff was INCREDIBLY kind. I would definitely visit again to try more of their offerings (specifically the crepes that I saw on other tables ). I've never in my life eaten a blander or uglier avocado toast. The bread was over-toasted. The "avocado" was actually a guacamole or spread worse than the one you can buy in a tub at the grocery store. There wasn't a single speck of seasoning on anything. I'm baffled how there are so many rave reviews of this dish. The berry crepe also reminded me of something you could buy at the grocery store, from the freezer section. The berry compote was somehow bitter and not sweet at all. The crepe itself was bland and overcooked. I left three stars because we were seated quickly, service was acceptable, and the fresh-squeezed orange juice was excellent. I also felt they were generous with the fruit salad that came on the side of the toast disappointment. read more

8AM is a cute brunch spot located close to Fisherman's Wharf with a wide array of breakfast foods! (Crepes, frittatas, waffles, parfaits, bagels, avocado toast, etc.) It's far enough removed from the tourist traffic to feel calm and provides great service. The actual dining spaces are pretty underwhelming, with the interior as a skinny hallway of tables and the exterior as metal chairs and tables on the sidewalk. I've read about long wait times, but we only had to wait around 5min to be seated outside at noon! This was a spur the moment breakfast outing for me with friends from overseas. I randomly chose this place because of the rating on yelp, but had no time to read the reviews before waitlisting myself and my party. It was busy and expected in a touristy area. The wait wasn't that bad for a Saturday morning and we were seated within 15 minutes. There wasn't anyone to tell us if there were any specials nor if we needed clarification with the menu. All the staff seemed very busy and unhappy. The menu seemed limiting in basic choices...I really just wanted to select a dish that had everything a basic breakfast would offer like 2 eggs, bacon, and potatoes, but their menu didn't have that. So I decided to order a la carte or from the sides section of the menu. Scrambled eggs, toast, and a waffle cost me $30 including tip. It was typical, nothing too noteworthy except the strawberry butter on top of the waffle. My friend ordered one of the eggs Benedict. The eggs Benedict and did not particularly like it. The English muffin was huge in comparison to the contents on top...my daughter (3yo) liked the potatoes. We closed out after a lack luster experience and our check was split in 2 by my request. The merchant copy had the tip portion crossed out and I wasn't sure why so I had asked. The staff said that there was already a tip included. I wasn't aware that for a party of 4 you can include tip and I don't recall seeing or hearing that from the staff. I was disappointed as a local, that the staff didn't care to mention that as they dropped off our receipt to sign. Don't think I'll ever come back nor recommend this place. read more

Eight AM is a cute & delicious brunch place I'd recommend if you're ever in the North Beach neighborhood! I've been here once pre-Covid and had a really great impression of their food but didn't get the chance to revisit until this past weekend. My friend and I snagged an outdoor table around 12pm on Sunday; there were a few parties ahead of us but they all wanted an indoor seat so we skipped the line. We split 2 entrees - the Pac Heights omelette and banana nut waffle. I also ordered a hot latte to keep me warm in the cold winds. The waffle was one of the fluffiest, fattest waffles I've had for a while! I was quite taken aback by the 2 whole bananas they put on top, but hey I'll eat up all the potassium I can to feel less guilty about brunch calories! I thought the omelette was good but nothing special to make it stand out from other brunch spots. Latte was decent, on par with some SF coffee shops. Came here for breakfast on a Sunday and there wasn't a wait, which was nice. I ordered the latte and avocado toast three ways, which came out relatively fast and freshly made. My beau's French toast came out piping hot, as I could still see the steam rise off his toast, though it was drenched in syrup. From my times ordering French toast, they normally serve the syrup separate so that you can decide how much to pour over your toast. Not here, so if you aren't big on massive amounts of syrup, you might want to ask for it on the side. My avocado toast came out on a plate with 3 slices, one with an egg the way I wanted it (chose overeasy), another with 2 slices of bacon and a third, my least favorite, had 2 slices of green tomatoes, which I didn't really eat. Instead I just took the tomatoes off and scraped the avocado because after 2 slices of bread, that was mighty filling. Latte was average at best, not bad. read more

When there's a line out the door in San Francisco, it's a good sign of good food. This place was no exception! Our favorite San Francisco breakfast so far on this week long trip of ours! The line moved quickly and we didn't feel like we were waiting very long. The servers all moved swiftly in getting us seated, getting our drinks and our order in. I noticed that all the servers were helping each other refill waters, pre-buss tables, etc. I love seeing that type of teamwork and efficiency at a restaurant! The kitchen seemed to be backed up, they even brought out a little fruit bowl while we waited. And then the food came to our table at random times. Our first two plates were about halfway through before our second two plates came. And then one of our crepes went to the wrong table at first but once our server noticed, she quickly fixed the problem. The presentation was beautiful! Even down the the fruit cup, you can see it was intentionally put together. The least impressive thing was the 6AM crepe, though impressive in size and the flavor was good, the other crepes had such beautiful garnishes that this one paled in comparison. The 8AM and the 9AM crepes were insanely delicious. The Castro Frittata had such amazing flavor to it. We might make another stop tomorrow before we head to the airport, for sure!! read more

Tiny place with no reservations however for a Friday summer morning, they were well oiled with their walk-up waitlist. The orange juice was extremely fresh and my lox bagel was tasty. Growing up in Long Island, NY however, the $30 price tag on a DIY lox bagel was certainly eyeopening - especially since the bagel was plain and there wasn't anything special besides the normal toppings of capers, red onions, lettuce, and tomato.
