I really enjoyed my time at this establishment! Me and my friends got indoor steering. I love the variety they had on their drink menu. I would highly recommend their margarita flight. A friend recommended this place in the heights. Came by on a Sunday afternoon, there was plenty of parking spots around the restaurant. All on corn tortillas to accommodate the wife's anti-glutenism. Still they were damn good. The hush puppies. Yes. Get these. Get extra sauce on the side. Use the sauce on the tacos. Profit. The wings. We were told these were good...but they were WAY overcooked and chewy. The flavor was there. I just couldn't be bothered to masticate (quit giggling and google it) any more on these. Now. I did see some reviews where people were pi$$ing and moaning about their bill. You looked at the menu. You ordered multiple $5-$6 dollar tacos for your group. You know that some foods are $8-$12 dollars. You ordered an $11+ cocktail. By yourself, if you order 2 tacos and a drink, with tip you are looking at $30+ FOR JUST YOURSELF. So don't complain. As a member of the service industry I think it's important to let your patrons know when you automatically add gratuity to their bill. Especially when using a handheld Toast device where all you see are the recommended tip percentages. They are super pet friendly and have plenty of outdoor seating. Our experience overall was just okay. They are incredibly pricey for the small amount of food/drinks you get. Their tacos are small street tacos and are roughly $7.50 a piece. They have great flavors but again, it's a street taco. I had their Paloma, very sweet, full of ice and light on the alcohol. If you ever wanted to know how it was to visit a dive ice house in Kandahar's war zone, then this is your place, with peeling paint and cement floors. The place is grubby. Chairs are metal and uncomfortable and the food that is cooked out back in a "I don't know what I'm eating " (kinda tool shed.") All day you can do half a shot for 3 dollars and for a dollar more you can do add a lone star and for 2 more a white claw, 6 dollar cocktails and margaritas and 3 dollar select beers. Until 6 pm you can do 3 dollar tacos. Parking: they do have valet but other than that good luck parking LOL I would uber Atmosphere: it was very vibrant and good vibes. It's pet friendly and it has a decent size outside patio. The Tables don't move so consider that when brining large groups as most tables only fit certain number of ppl. They did bring out extra chairs. Food: The shrimp tacos were amazing! Everything else was very mediocre. We tried most of the tacos since they were 3 dollars and note that it's only for ONE taco. I would never pay 7 dollars for a single taco ever but that's just me and even then 3 dollars wasn't worth the tacos. Shrimp one, maybe. So confused why this place doesn't have at least 4 stars. Eight Row is my go to place to get drinks! They have a great happy hour with $5 beers, $6 food and $7 cocktails! On Wednesdays, their happy hour prices for drinks are all day. All of their food choices are solid too. House made corn tortillas are delicious and their guac is really good. The Sonora dog is amazing as well! I also just think the interior and exterior are aesthetically pleasing. Parking is not the best, but they do offer complimentary valet parking. But even if HH isn't going on, I like the fact that the menu prices are still pretty reasonable. We ordered a sample of menu items and we enjoyed everything! Add some salt and a squeeze of lime and you are set!! Eight Row Flint is also famous with the moms on my sons soccer team for the ranch waters - go get one! They level up from the traditional tequila, topo and lime...IYKYK. (But they are for after soccer obvs) And finally, they do this really cool midday happy hour, where for like $15 you can get 2 food items and a drink. Eight Row Flint is a lot of fun with their spin the wheel and ring toss features. You pay $5 to spin the wheel and get whatever the pin lands on. Or you could pay $5 to do a ring toss and whichever bottle the ring lands on, you get a pour of. It's pretty difficult to do the ring toss successfully. But if you lose you get a small glass of Lone Star. One other deal they have is their Cheap Thrills, where you can pay $3-4 for a shot (choose between like two) and a beer/hard seltzer. I came here for all-day happy hour on a Wednesday. Excited to go, because I've had a great experience at carousel and indianola. Unfortunately, eight row Flint let me down. I ordered the following: Chicken nachos Eight row Flint margaritas Shrimp tacos Beef cheek tacos The chicken nachos were good to say the least. With black beans, actual nacho cheese, guac, and sour cream. The chicken was a bit dry. Everything else was good. This was the best out of all. But who can really mess up nachos? The eight row Flint marg was also nice. With that hint of eggwhite, I can say that it was a nice twist and these were tasty! Nice and strong too! Now the tacos. Shrimp tasted like orange chicken from Panda Express. For me, they were edible and flavorful but not my cup of tea to put in a taco. It's different but not bad. The beef cheek was a major disappointment. I've had the beef cheek taco at poitin for their happy hour and that was the best thing I put in my mouth. I could be comparing hard core but this particular one was greasy, too hard to eat in one piece, every bite leaves you in a hand of oils and the tortilla falling apart. We came here at happy hour and the place was busy, but not overly crowded. We easily found seating in the bar area. Drinks - 3 stars The cocktails are subpar here. Don't come here for cocktails. Come here for tasting whiskey or just ordering beer. We all had various cocktails and they were all mediocre at best. I had the old fashioned and honestly it was probably the worst one I've had in awhile. How hard is whiskey, bitters, and sugar? Especially if you're using say a turbinado sugar? Terrible. That said, their whiskey selection is absolutely fantastic. If you have seen it, there is a decent chance they have it if it's a higher end whiskey. I've had most the choices they offer, but being a bit of a whiskey snob for the past 15 years myself I was not disappointed. If it wasn't for the whiskey options this place would be a one star for drink choice. Pricing - 3 stars Happy hour pricing was fair. The selection is very limited with no whiskey selection on happy hour which is disappointing. The selection is fantastic, but happy hour is really just beer and a few cocktails. The whiskey is a overpriced for the amount. Overall left thinking, meh. I wouldn't race back. Service - 5 stars The service was great. We were never short of wanting anything. To be fair, I can't speak to the drinks, which is more what Eight Row Flint is known for. After the taco truck Tacos El Palmar left the neighborhood, I've been looking for another spot in the heights to satiate my late night taco cravings! Eight Row Flint is NOT where I'll ever go for that. The shrimp taco was very meh, and one of my shrimps still had a very full GI tract intact (ick!), and the barbacoa tacos was just OK. There was way too high of a pickled vegetable-to-protein ratio in both for my taste, and frankly too expensive for there to be so little protein as well. It's part of the Agricole Hospitality Group, and they have more hits than misses, so I was looking forward to checking it out! As soon as I pulled up and realized that they only have valet for the parking lot right next to the restaurant, I was annoyed. Who likes valeting their car?! Not this girl. What I did like though was that they had happy hour specials. I went with the $6 Old Fashioned. It was pretty good, but it came with cherries, which I just could not get over. I tried the chips and queso, which really hit the spot. I had an okay time at Eight Row Flint, but the service was pretty terrible the whole time we were there. This is definitely a nice place in a very trendy location. They have a massive amount of spirits and options to drink. I think the trick here is knowing what you can get without spending 15 to 20 dollars a drink that's mostly just all ice. I hate the fact I have to ask how much a drink costs but if you look at the menu and see that some of the drinks cost close to 20 bucks, you're kind of forced to have to do it. Bottom line I think there's cheaper alternatives and better areas of town where you can spend that kind of money. The food they serve is very good.
