Normally I love coming here for sushi, I've been a loyal customer for almost 8 years but recently things have changed. First of all, eikos oxbow closed, which was my favorite compared to the restaurant. They had the best chefs and servers, but since closing it has felt like the restaurant has not dealt well with the change. Today I went in with my sisters and daughter, everything was going well until they brought out the wrong item for my sister where everything went down hill. We clearly ordered a spicy tuna HAND ROLL, but we received a regular spicy tuna cut roll instead. We nicely addressed it to the food runner and he immediately helped us out. Our appetizer came out last with our bento box. Although we didn't mind the wait, as soon as we received our food we noticed that we didn't receive a shrimp bento box, instead it was a vegetable bento box. Of course we did not make it into a big deal, as it would be as delicious, but when I went to address these problems to the server (Deja) so they could be fixed accordingly on our tab, she assured me that it would take a while because she was busy. I want to start off by saying I did not address this problem in a rude manner, I've worked in a restaurant before and I understand being overwhelmed, but the restaurant was not full compared to what I've seen in the past. I believe there was two tables seated next to us, two behind and a few people at the bar. Once she "fixed" the problem she adjusted the bento box price since the vegetable bento box was cheaper and then we noticed that she add $5 to the spicy tuna roll because according to her a hand roll is more expensive then a regular cut roll. So our price went for $17 to $22 for a HAND ROLL. I want to start off by saying right away that a HAND ROLL is not more expensive. She stated that it's more expensive because it has to be rolled. But we had ordered two spicy hamachi HAND ROLLS and they were $16 dollars each. Not to mention on the menu there is a hand roll that has TUNA and AVOCADO, and it's $15. So for her to up charge us on a hand roll, was wrong. She could have addressed this supposed change in price when we first ordered but did not. Nor did she say that hand rolls were not possible when we first ordered them (we have ordered them in the past). She was completely unprofessional. The bussers and food runners were more attentive than she was. We have had better experiences in the past with other servers like Brigit. She is amazing. Review for Dec 2022 Eikos is my top choice for happy hour in the area. They present elevated Japanese fare for fair prices. While I thoroughly enjoyed everything, my favorites from the HH menu included the healthy fries and the spare ribs. The healthy fries were tempura green beans, surprisingly delicious! The spare ribs were so tender, and the 15 spices provided a burst of flavor that make me appreciate these way more than the American style ribs I had down the street. This restaurant was very underwhelming.... Came here with family while visiting Napa, sushi sounded good so we gave it a shot. We got the sweet chili edamame and six rolls. Edamame was okay, the rice had no flavor, ingredients were lack luster with essentially no flavor other than the minimal sauce and nearly identical taste despite them all being different, and the fish was not very fresh. Rolls were extremely pricey for the quality and flavor (roll price average roughly $22). Considering where the restaurant was located, had higher expectations for the food but disappointed all together. Staff were friendly however after we ate it took about 30 minutes to get the check because no one was checking on us. We began Napa's Restaurant Week 2023 at Eiko's. We've been to Eiko's several times and have never been disappointed! For Restaurant Week they offered a fixed price menu of house or seaweed salad (we chose house), Miso soup, edamame (we chose sweet & spicy), any sushi roll (we chose the Rickie Ricardo On Vacation and added the Lion Roll), shrimp & vegetable tempura, and a desert. In retrospect, we really didn't need to add the extra roll. (but boy was it good!!) Although we've been there before, we were honestly surprised at just how great the meal was! Every course was absolutely as good as it could have been. Our server was very attentive and friendly - definitely setting 'the bar'. The room was full of happy customers and engaged staff, very positive vibe. We love Eiko's, we're very happy we ate there tonight, and we'll be back again for sure! They're doing it right. read more

Had a great time at Eiko's and great customer service. Came here for early dinner on a weekend. I got the edamame (free w/ Yelp check in), shishito peppers ($11), avocado roll ($11), and veggie roll ($11). I requested the shishito peppers to be fried in tempura and it was delicious. The avocado in the avocado roll tasted very fresh and the quantity was generous. The veggie roll was also very good. The host stated that happy hour is only Monday through Friday which is confusing since happy hour menu on Yelp says daily from 4 pm - 6 pm. It would be good to update this if they're still using the old menu to avoid confusion. All the items we got were actually on the happy hour menu so it was a bummer! read more

Still quite crunchy and in a tangy dressing, it was perfect. My friend, who had never had a seaweed salad before, enjoyed it. When the yellow tail arrived, it was a good portion. Six decent size pieces of sashimi topped with jalapenos and cilantro and a light yuzo-soy sauce. Very tasty and surprisingly filling! My wife and I walked in around 6:30 on a weekend. It was busy but there was no wait for a table. We sat down in a comfortable booth that had partitions where you can't really see the people seated on either side of you. Neither of us were feeling alcohol to drink. I got the Mango Bliss which was Sprite mixed with fruit juices. It was a little pineapple heavy for my tastes, I would have preferred more mango flavor. My wife got a Roy Rogers. We got the Hamachi Bon Bons as an appetizer. It is crab wrapped in Yellowtail with a sauce. You get four a serving so it was perfect for a couple getting two each. It was a nice starter giving you a fresh seafood taste with some sauce but not heavy to impact your mains. I didn't need to add any soy or wasabi as it was well flavored. My wife described them as unctuous (flattering). We next received the Duck Confit Fried Rice. The rice was so flavorful and there was a ton of duck that was tender. There also was edamame which brought a nice crunchy texture and green color to the dish. This dish also has the only obvious flaw of the night as the duck egg on top was overcooked. The yolk still had a great texture but no ooze you want from a fried egg. My wife described the dish as "crave-able". We would still order the dish again but make sure the egg was less cooked. While we were still working on the rice all three sushi dishes we ordered came. We both would rank them in the same order best to least. Our favorite was the Ricky Ricardo. This has tempura shrimp on each end and also crab, hamachi, sesame sauce and tobiko. The flavor was great and using the table side wasabi made it spicy, sweet, crunchy, soft, and flavorful all at the same time. Next we would put the Wagyu Beef Roll. This was not like any sushi we have had. Imagine a tri-tip sandwich inside sushi with Japanese flavors. The meat was flavorful with lettuce and mayo. My wife enjoyed it but as someone who is sensitive to heat found one piece too spicy as it is topped with Japanese spices. I personally didn't mind or think it was spicy at all so your palate may vary. Third was the Negihama (Yellowtail). This wasn't bad by any means, in fact it was very tasty, but it was a simple roll with just the fish and rice so doesn't compare to the special rolls. After eating everything an employee cleared our plates. We started chatting with him and told him we were in town to celebrate our wedding anniversary. For dessert he recommended the brownie and ice cream but do an off menu addition of tempura frying the brownie. Yeah, a fried brownie. If someone offers a fried brownie to you say yes. It was lightly battered with a creamy brownie inside. The ice cream tasted homemade and also had a caramel topping. My wife described it as "epic" and I agree. To our surprise when we received the bill the man we talked to who recommended the dessert was the general manager who didn't charge us for the dessert. SUMMARY: Resounding YES! I've never been to a sushi place where everything served was perfect. Not fishy, not too much rice, not too little rice, too much flavor - everything was made to perfection. FOOD: If there's one I'd recommend, get the blue fin belly - it melts in your mouth, better than a wagyu (ok disclaimer, I have not found a wagyu that wows me and explains they hype - just good but not to the point I forget my name. We ordered Bon Bons from the appetizer section. Chef's kiss. Fresh fish, not over powering roe, enough soy sauce. Tsunami roll, was also so tasty. It's grilled. I tasted that grilled flavor and it just blends with the rest of the flavor. By the way in my opinion everything was a melt in your mouth experience. I'd say my least favorite is the Suzuki. It was lacking flavor when compared to the rest we tried. By the way, edamame is free if you sign in as a Yelper, one of the perks you get as a Yelper, so what are you waiting for? DRINKS: For drinks we ordered Hana Hou Shu Pink Bubbles sake - if you are like me - cringe or shiver from the smell of alcohol, this is the drink for you. Light and delicious, well I should say, dangerously delicious because it's like. Juice you'd want to drink it like one. The other drink was Yuki No Bosh's Cabin in the Snow. A stronger drink if you will. My experience with this was it appears it has no taste when I first drink it but as it goes down to the throat, midway of the drink, the alcohol sake taste appeared. If you are non alcoholic they have what I call my favorite, hot water. Hey laugh all you want but that truly is my favorite. SERVICE: Tito, my man, ex Ellen's service. Genuine and willing to walk me to the bathroom because I am horrible with directions - that was a test, of course he did not need to do that. Me and my girlfriend try sushi from all over the Bay Area yet eikos remains our favorite, we've tried almost every roll on the specialty menu and they have never disappointed, always consistently good. The service is always really good, even offered us complimentary appetizers when the food way delayed (still came out fast), my girlfriend has celiac and they accommodate it very well. As the for ambiance it's very nice however the secondary section to the left of the door is much much nicer, but in all a really good spot for some high quality sushi. read more

This is probably one of my favorite Sushi Restaurants of all time. The ambiance is perfect for my tastes and the selections are out of this world! One of the reasons why I love this place is that some of the dishes are real pieces of art. As a designer I really appreciate how some restaurants really put in the extra effort in the aesthetic aspect of their dishes. When ever I go there I always blow a TON of cash because of it lol. The food and drinks are top notch so it's all good. When I went last I had a server in training and both the trainer and trainee were both excellent. Really love great service. I also tried something new which was the Kobe Beef roll. Never had that before. It was different and quite delicious. They also still have the Covid barriers/table/booth separators up too so if you are a little nervous about going out that might offer a little comfort. Came to Eiko's for while visiting Napa and so glad I did! Little did my friends and I know we were there during Happy Hour- such a great deal if you happen to make it during that time! Their happy hour is only an hour and a half long but the deals are insane! We ordered sooo much food and our total was $100! I couldn't believe it! The food was AMAZING and it wasn't a small HH menu either! I couldn't get over the quality and freshness of the rolls and fish! Everything tasted great and was fresh. The place was busy but we were seated right away without having to wait, no reservation either. I will be back the next time I visit Napa. The food here is amazing, of course, and I'm personally a big fan of the Napa Noodles menu. However, I can't recommend the restaurant because of an experience I had here about a year ago. While me and my friends were eating, one of them spotted a WIRE in her seafood dish. I truly wish I had taken a picture, it was huge. We told the server about it, who was very apologetic. He then told us that the manager would personally apologize to us. We did not receive an apology from the manager. He had seen us and was hovering around our table, but I think seeing our age, and how polite we were being to the staff, he didn't feel the need to. When we received the bill, only the sent back item was comped. As someone who works in the service industry, I personally don't feel like that was sufficient apology. I really didn't want to leave this review, hence how long it's been since the incident happened. However, I truly think it's important that the staff learn that it's important to treat their kind customers with the same amount of care as their nasty customers. I truly feel if we had made a bigger scene about the wire, the manager would have b-lined for our table and have apologized. However, because we were kind, patient and understanding 20-somethings, we weren't treated with the same amount of respect. Needless to say, that deadly seafood dish left a bad taste in my mouth. We have been customers of this restaurant for 14 years. Because I'm so put off by commerce in CA (which started with covid) we door dash now more often than going to the restaurants. Again this evening we had a door dash order that totaled $131.81. Included was a total of about 1 TBS of wasabi. Came here on a Monday right when they opened. We were already enjoying some wine at V. Sattui prior to getting here so we were ready for some sushi! Their poke nachos are new to the menu and they are definitely the best looking poke nachos I've ever had! Even the flowers are edible. The fish from the poke nachos and the sushi was super fresh and delicious. The wings and the rock shrimp were good, but I personally didn't care too much about it. I do like how their ranch is made in-house though. My favorite had to be the hamachi bon bons. Sooo full of flavor, fresh, and melts in your mouth. Service was absolutely amazing! We had a reservation for dinner here, and thankfully, they were able to accommodate us when we arrived 45 minutes early (it took about 15 minutes for them to get the table indoors ready). I really liked the decor and how spacious this restaurant is. Our server was also very nice. In terms of the food, I quite liked the sushi but not the udon I ordered. The consistency of the noodles themselves was spot on, but the broth was way too salty. I would say for sushi fanatics that the sushi isn't necessarily "genuine" because the rice is way too sticky and mushy, but it was still tasty! I ordered a few vegetarian rolls and enjoyed all of them. The fried avocado was good as well as the fried rice. My friends seemed to enjoy their cocktails -- there's a fun selection. The J-Pop cocktail comes with pop rocks lining the rim, which I thought was punny. Overall, not a bad option for Japanese in Napa. read more

We came here to celebrate a birthday and had a good time. Food was ok, and service could've been better but was acceptable. Prices are reasonable and in par with other Japanese restaurants. Place is advertised as Modern Japanese Cuisine, but my opinion is, it's more of a fusion Japanese Cuisine. The 15 Spice Baby Back Ribs seemed out of place as it felt more for Asian Bar Food, but it's done right with excellent flavors. The Avacado Tempura was different, but not a must try and you can skip the Crispy Tuna Pizza; opt for the Hamachi "Bon Bon" and the House Made Gyoza instead. Although they had Uni, ours still had traces of icicles. Their Shrimp Tempura is different from others as it's fresh hand battered. I haven't been to Eikos since 2019 and the fish, flavors and service were on point since the other night and they seemed to have survived and surpassed the pandemic, kudos! Have the hamachi bon bons - they come with 3 but you can add an extra is sharing - hamachi over real crab salad with a ponzu sauce - I can eat them like bonbons in bed! But I guess many businesses close early due to covid. their food is tasty but they need to work on their communication. The ambiance is nice here. You have both indoor and outdoor seating options. We sat outside when we came during Covid. They had heaters all over to keep everyone warm.  The service was good, but the food wasn't. We were expecting a lot more out of food considering the reviews on a different site and it being in Napa. Perhaps we ordered the wrong rolls, but we went with suggestions from the server.  It was really disappointing seeing how much imitation crab meat is used.
