I ordered the lox bagel (I believe that's what it was called), which is a bagel with cream cheese, tomatoes, onions, capers, and salmon. It was SO good. Sounds like an odd combination to most, though. I went with the spinach bagel! It was heavenly. I ate it there, and was sitting by myself. A worker was cleaning up in her down time, then handed me some napkins with a smile. She was lovely. Then, she asked if I wanted a cup of water. So sweet! I told one of the workers how long my wait was, and she handed me my food with no apologies whatsoever. This is the closest Einstein Bros near my home and I am surprised it took this long to write a review. This Einstein Bagels is conveniently located in the Terra Nova shopping center right next to the 805. The dishes I order regularly are the Bacon & Cheddar sandwich, the Farmhouse, the Chorizo Sunrise and the Everything bagels. The servers/cashiers are typically helpful and courteous. The location is small for the volume they do, but the line tends to move quickly. The topside of this location is that they don't have a bathroom to wash your hands as well as they don't serve espresso drinks like the Mission Valley and Del Cerro Blvd locations. I mean, how can a business serve food and not have a sink for the customers to wash their hands. Make sure to check your bags before you go. They shorted me one bagel and when I asked them for it, the girl manning the pickup orders became irritable. I showed her my online receipt and she was still irritable. Someone had to talk to a manager just to discuss my issue which was pretty black and white. Lesson learned-- always read Yelp reviews prior to visiting. I typically don't write reviews for fast food chain restaurants but, I couldn't resist with the terrible service my husband received today. Listen, we know weekends are busy- we get it. We decided to place an online order to avoid the line. First, the place is a madhouse. Our order was to be ready by 9:45 am. My husband proceeds to the pick-up spot and informs the clerk he's here to pick up. She tells him to wait outside and someone will call him--so he does. Within a few minutes he sees an order placed on the counter--and no call. He waits a few minutes, decides to go inside, and guess what...it's our order sitting there getting cold and no notification. If you are going to provide direction and the customer follows that direction, the least your staff can do is their part. Either you need to have more staff available for rush hours or you need to train your staff better. And to top it off-- food was cold, egg whites had yoke...won't be coming back. read more

UNBELIEVABLE AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY! I was so excited to walk in as I had been placing some orders with them through door dash weeks prior. Well OMG I'm so glad I did. Ok on this Visit I'll give a 5 star for only 1 reason I went in on a Saturday around 11am there was a bit of a line a 40 min wait when I did get in I asked for a 1/2 doz Everything the girl informed me they needed 5 more minutes and they were VERY HOT AND VERY FRESH this is why the 5 stars. The place is extremely small and there is no mention or signage for social distance. The coffee area was messy- coffee spilled on counter, empty sugar packets, sugar on counter- just NOT CLEAN! I ended up not ordering a coffee for this reason The service is so slow. When I did get my sandwich after waiting over 20 min, I received minimal spread on the bagel. They let me swap out egg white for the whole egg. The sandwich was mediocre because lack of the spread. The bagels are usually always have good bagels. The customer service is just poor! It was busier than usual when my boyfriend and I stopped by since it was Bagel Day (more, like, "Bagel Week," lol) and Einstein's had a coupon going. It was crazy inside! Customer service was alright. The ladies that helped us at the register were polite. However, the layout of the restaurant is extremely inefficient: the space in-between the register and window isn't enough to comfortably service a high volume of people... I felt squished in there. I tried their "Wake-Cup" (ham & cheese). It's tiny and not worth your money -- just get a bagel, lol. I got my food, so I guess that's all that matters at the end of the day :p I would avoid this location at all cost during morning peak hours. The star of the show is the chocolate chip bagel! Every other star falls off. I love Einstein Bagels once in awhile. I just come to this particular small location because it's the only one south of San Diego. When there is a lot of people ordering especially on a Sunday it is not a very pleasant one. You are literally walking like crabs side to side to move your way up to order in line, inch away from someone enjoying a bagel on the side table, smelling someone's body odor, or kissing the merchandise. I ordered my favorite chocolate chip bagel toasted with cream cheese. When I got my order I was disappointed. Whoever made mine missed spreading cream cheese one whole side of my bagel shaking my head. It's not hard to make a bagel with cream cheese! Please teach your staff how to properly make one! Oh mercy! It was 6 a.m. and I was at Einstein Bros Bagels because I needed nourishment! I make an annual pilgrimage across the border to build homes for the very poor in Mexico. That said, making the crossing works best early! However, few places, save fast-food establishments are open during the wee hours. Thank heaven for Einstein Bagels! They didn't seem to mind me hovering around waiting for the door to be unlocked. And the lady in front of me had a huge order but not one person on the staff flinched. Amazing! Amazing too was the coffee and food. I know most food tastes good when you first wake up, but the bagels here are fresh and the variety of selection is plenteous! Add a righteous and convivial early morning attitude from the staff and my day started out on a high note. Naturally, when I'm in the area, I'll be back. Every time I've been here the employees have been nice & friendly. I've ordered in person and online with no problems. I don't know how people leave such low reviews when the food alone is 4-5 stars! If it's busy just be patient cuz you know it's a popular place. I also like the rewards program that gives you free items.
