I would give this location 0 stars if I could. Horrible customer service. Placed an online order and the order did not come through in the system. I showed them my receipt and they refused to honor the order. Instead they said "call the number and get a refund". No, not going to do that. If I could, I would give zero stars. My mom, sister and I arrived at 1:30 pm attempting to eat a quick bite after a drive back from San Diego. My sister would assist my mom, who's having to use a walker these days, using the restroom while I would buy us a lunch bagel and drinks which we would order for takeout. Not only were we not allowed to use the restroom, told the manager was gone already, but lied to that both restrooms were out of order when it was obvious they were already cleaning and didn't want anyone there although we still had half an hour before closing. Apologies for posting a "bitch" review in advance, but how frustrating when you are in a hurry, and the cashier walks away from taking your order to go stock paper goods. WTF? This place has brain-dead employees and service. After standing in line as the "next customer" for about 12 minutes while they complete a not so huge catering take out order. Do you really need every employee in the house to do that? Finally someone who looked like the shift leader recognized that I had been being ignored for a while and took my order. Ok, I do enjoy Einstein Bros Bagel's bagels and schmears. Problem is this particular location has some flaws. On several occasions both when dining in and for take-out, they have screwed up my order. So now whenever I have to visit this location (it's the closest EBB to us unfortunately) I make sure I check my order before leaving. Staff here usually seem like they want to be anywhere but there. I've often sat there waiting for my order while the employees chit chat. Today's cashier was friendlier than normal, however when I had asked for a tub of low fat jalapeno salsa cream cheese, he tried handing me a tub of plain. And of course they were all out of the jalapeno salsa schmear. Argh! This is not the first time they've been out of product. More than twice I've come in for a specific type of bagel and they've run completely out. Very frustrating. The execution of your order is also problematic. Sometimes the slicing of your bagel is completely uneven. I ordered a breakfast sandwich once where the sides were so lopsided where one half was huge, and the other paper thin to where it fell apart next to the fillings. A total mess! Customer Svc aside, the bagels are decent. The offer a good variety of flavors and schmears - both regular cream cheese and low fat. They also have bagel bites, muffins, breakfast sandwiches, juices, and coffees. I realized they recently opened another EBB in LB off of Los Coyotes. I can see why there are many 1-2 star reviews on here. I didn't understand it at first until I actually went in for myself. I went in to order a Baker's dozen. Was planning on doing an online order so I can just pick it up and leave, but realize at checkout they charge additional fees. I'm glad I didn't have any issues with the food nor the handling of the food, but the customer service is terrible! No one is smiling there, no greetings, or thank yous. Let me explain these two principles at play which they enforce: - Only three people are allowed in the store. - Customers do not leave the store until their order is done otherwise they can't get back in. I have waited here for 40 minutes in the sun because each customer is having to order and then wait for their staff to finish the whole thing before they can leave and anyone else can place an order. I can't believe at this point in time they are not open to seating there. It's great for the takeout side they do have good bagels and they have a pretty good lox and bagels which is what my wife and I wanted to get. We had been there a few times and found the inside closed. I guess it is wrong on our part to assume it would be open by now like almost all other places here in Long Beach.
