Busy location staffed by people who run it like a cafeteria line without friendly, personal service. They brought out a bunch of orders simultaneously and when I was unable to extract mine from the bottom of the heap, the cashier barked "just pick it up" when it should've been obvious that I was trying not to spill the other bags, and really it should've been her job to pick bags up and hand them to customers rather than stand and watch people reach over counter displays to extract their orders. The worst part was the strong taste of onion that covered the entirely bagel, overpowering any and all other blueberry flavors. This is a popular hangout place for bagels and it's fun to people watch. I see a lot of people with young kids and people with their dogs too. I usually get their bagel sandwich with egg and bacon. I haven't had a problem waiting a long time for a toasted bagel or breakfast sandwich. Service is fast. Bagels are nice and fresh. I dinged them a star because they are almost always out of a couple bagel flavors I want- no matter what the time. I've been here at 7am, 8am, 9am and everything in between but you can be sure they will probably be out of something. Maybe that's a good sign that the bagels are good but you think they can plan better, especially for busy mornings and weekends. Parking can be tight but I've never had a problem. They are also connected to a Pete's Coffee which will deliciously take care of your caffeine fix or there is a Starbucks right across the street. read more

I love going to Einstein Bros. Bagels; they're always fresh and taste delicious. What's annoying, however, is getting to work and realizing that my bagel was made wrong. I'm lactose intolerant and can't have cream cheese, though butter is ok, and so I ordered my bagel as such. Much to my dismay, my bagel had schmear on it. I gave it to a coworker. They have a great variety of bagels to choose from and you can sit indoors or out, outside is much nicer and quieter depending on the time of day. I wish they would open up an Einstein's near my area in San Dimas. It's a bummer that I have to come all the way over to Pasadena for a tasty bagel. Some of the nicest people here! Isabel and Vanessa are fucken awesome-sauce!! They treated me as if I was a part of the bagel team!! When I spoke to Vanessa she was so nice and attentive. I wasn't sure what bagel to get with my nova lox so we talked it out and narrowed it down to blueberry and it was amazing! She convinced me to try something I haven't before and she had that look in her beautiful eyes to take the chance!! Then Isabel made me my drink just to my exact needs! We had never been here before and you have to get a parking ticket from the attendant and remember to get a validation, we forgot and had to go back in. The girl at the register should have asked since you can only park in the parking lot. There was a long long line as mentioned in other reviews and we placed our order for 1/2 doz bagels and asked for 1 plain and the girl said they didn't have any. Then I thought, whattttt? You're a bagel store, kinda disappointed. On our way out I noticed a longer line of people waiting for their orders and the place was dirty. This is a great little bagel shop that I love, the staff is amazing and they are very friendly. I have gone so much that they all know what I order. They have a huge selection of bagels, you will have to go back to try all the bagels, and trust me, you need to try lots of their bagels because you never know when you will find a bagel that you love. They have rest bagel sandwiches for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and lots of other kinds of foods. First I love bagels and bagel sandwiches! Over all this place is great. Solid employees and customer service.....MOST of the time. I have to say though you HAVE to check and double check your order. If you stray from anything on the menu, change up smears or bagels, you HAVE to check your order. I come here regularly and I now know in fact exactly when I HAVE to double check my order because a certain employee seems to ALWAYS F%#K up my order. I have food allergies so its really important to get it right. Thing is even if this employee gets it right unfortunately there is the chance of cross contamination. I'm not even kidding! I got sick because as I was eating my weekly order with no onions, I tasted onions and then my mouth started to feel weird, I checked the sandwich and there weren't any onions on it but the distinct smell of raw onions was all over my bagel, my husband could smell it too. Basically said employee cut a sandwich with onions and did not wipe/wash the knife and then cut my sandwich. transferring raw onion juice onto my order which made me sick for 24 hrs. This happens every time this employee is here, something goes wrong with my order. Today my half hour lunch was ruined because the poppy seed bagel which was suppose to be my order was a wheat with cranberries and was basically disgusting with humus on top. I couldn't eat my lunch and had to basically waste money and buy another lunch. This was because I didn't check this to go order because I had ordered breakfast there this morning as well. My breakfast order was wrong and had a sauce on it that I'm allergic to, which made me queasy for an hour because I had started to eat my breakfast. After getting my breakfast order fixed I didn't do a thorough enough check of my lunch order, which turned out to be also wrong and I could not eat it. basically good bagels, good food just CHECK YOUR ORDER! read more

The bagels are not as fresh as when the location wasn't called Einstein's . It was my first time going . The cashier was friendly , but the selection was lacking . I ordered an egg white bagel sandwich . I was shocked it was ready in less than two or three minutes . Some people may call this efficiency, but I say that the eggs were made well ahead of time and just thrown in the microwave to warm it up. I don't like places that do that. I like fresh stuff. I ordered a whole wheat bagel with strawberry cream cheese for my friend. She took a look at it and didn't want to eat it. I took a bite. The bread was in soft and it was warm. Who warms up they call us with cream cheese on it? I mean it wasn't cooked enough to be toasted and it was in Fresh, so what the heck was it, a semi warm a bit hard bagel? No thank you. The bagels are also thin almost as if they scooped out the inside and left the outside crest. No rented, people who are rude and intolerant, well I guess it's better for them. I am writing specifically about the Einstein Bros. Bagels on S. Lake Ave. in Pasadena. While they are owned by Noah's Bagels (through an acquisition years ago) there is no comparison in their bagels to what Noah's is now serving. Einstein's are really different in taste and, to my palate, most superior which is why I drive 20 minutes to this store when there is a Noah's only 10 minutes away. The manager Jackie runs a very professional store and she is to be complimented. Every time I have made a visit, she is there watching over her employees to see they are towing the mark. Some additional comments: The store inside is very clean as are the outside tables where you can sit and enjoy your meal "al fresco." The employees are very friendly and they always get my order right the first time (double toasted, butter and spreads on the side!) And there are always several people taking orders so there is never a long wait. The cashier always repeats your order to make sure it is correct. (A nice touch!) Einstein Bros. always have a great variety of bagels and spreads on hand. So for me, their great tasting bagels combined with their fresh brewed coffees are worth the drive from North Hollywood to Pasadena. read more

Highway Robbery! On Monday you can get a good deal on a dozen bagels, otherwise prepare to be ripped off! I was amazed one day when I realized that my already overpriced sesame bagel ($1.25) became $2.75 when I asked for some cream cheese on it! Yes that's right to get a little cream cheese spread on your bagel they charge you more than the price of the bagel! $1.50 for 5 cents worth of cream cheese! Crazy! So this morning I thought I would be clever and I literally brought my own cream cheese. Then I asked if I could just get a little butter on it and figured I better ask how much the butter (which would be free elsewhere) would cost me. The lady said 60 cents! For probably a penny worth of butter they want 60 cents! And then when I began examining their prices on everything else I concluded this place is just a total rip off! The only good thing I can say is that the employees are all super sweet, except for one grumpy old lady who seems to be the boss. She is very abrupt and rude. There is nowhere comfortable to sit inside, too crowded and noisy. Outside has some metal chairs and tables that should be hosed down more often. Anyways, I am hoping people will complain a bit about these prices and get them to do the right thing. read more

When I mucked up the pick-up date for an online order and arrived for my pick-up, as soon as we realized I entered the wrong pick-up date, their staff snapped into gear and got my order for 60+ people ready then and there in record time. This won't be a very long review because nearly all Einstein's are created equal in terms of food and service. Good bagels, long lines that move relatively fast, etc. The only thing really worth noting here is that on a Sunday or Saturday morning for a brunch, it can be very hard to get seating at this particular location since there are not that many tables to choose from.
