You don't need much to add besides some pico and your salsa or choice and you'll have the best tasting taco. The fish tacos are also a must. Fried and topped with cabbage,sour cream,pico. There is no better place for traditional Mexican cuisine. I have been to Mexico and would still prefer this place for traditional Mexican flare. I do miss their salsa self serve station that disappeared due to COVId but understandably so. I've been going here more than 15 years and I would recommend their chicharrones by the pound which we get in an all meat burrito as well as their carne asada quesadilla. read more

My BF have been to this spot on several occasions & its always always busy. Yesterday we were craving carnitas & tried to phone in our order but the lines were so busy we weren't able to get through! We ended up stopping in and ordering food to go. As of June 2020 they are open for pick up and delivery. No dine in. This spot is a staple of Fullerton & it has been known that Kobe Bryant and his family would frequent this place! Parking: they are located near the Stater Bros. There is plenty of parking. Food: Carnitas Plate: Carnitas, Rice & Beans and corn tortillas. My boyfriends fav dish! It was plenty of meat and a good portion of rice and beans. Also comes with a side of corn tortillas. Super super good. The carnitas was tender and tasty. Carnitas Chimi: Packed with carnitas & its no joke. Really dang good. You gotta have a big appetite for this! I only got through half of it but it was tasty. Comes with guac & sour cream on the side. Tamarindo Agua: Super tasty, a little on the sweet side but it was refreshing and cold. Melon Agua: This one is going to be my favorite favorite. It was so good! Super cold and a little sweet for my liking but I really like cantaloupe and this drink hit the spot. Food is amazing here. I LOVE carnitas! So I feel I'm the biggest critic everywhere I go. I have a favorite place however, El Camino blows them away. I had carnitas Nachos and the carnitas meat was tender, melt in your mouth carnitas, not salty. My Family had combo plates with rice, beans and a pile of chicharrones - crunchy and delish. Ordered take-out from El Camino Real on Cinco De Mayo. It was our first time here so I'm not entirely sure if it was really crowded because of the holiday or due to the hype from Kobe (that's how we found out about this eatery). There was a line out the door and a fairly large crowd (social distancing) inside waiting for their order. Ended up waiting about 30-40 minutes from waiting in line to getting our order. Al Pastor Burrito ($5.75): Rice, beans, onion, cilantro and al pastor wrapped in a tortilla. I was initially surprised about the lower than normal price of the burrito but the portion was also a little smaller than others so I would say the price vs portion was still fair. Unfortunately, the al pastor was a bit dry and needed the salsa to pair. Full Carnitas Nachos ($7.25): Chips topped with carnitas, beans, onion, tomato, cilantro, cheese, guac and sour cream. Great portion and delicous. The only downfall to take-out is soggy nachos. Will have to try this fresh next time! Overall, decent food and prices; El Camino Real will be in my rotation of Mexican restaurants but not the main "go to." read more

I've been coming here for over 10 years. It's always been a 3-1/2 to 4 star experience because customer service was always less than stellar. So it's the COVID self containment era, I decided to pick up the carnitas plate for take out. It took *forever* to get them to answer the phone. I chalked it up as they were busy. When I got there, there was only 2 people in front of me, and 2 take away packages next to mine. Not sure what took them so long to answer the phone. After paying the guy handed me my food. I had to ask for condiments. They don't automatically offer. Lucky I remember to ask for the house salsa. Imagine if I went home and forgot? In the past the box would feel like 10 pounds of food. The portion was smaller than the previous visits... it's still plenty but if you look at old photos, my box was not overflowing with food. A big disappointed. Carnitas wasn't as tender as before and it came with a wee scoop of beans and rice... That's the cheap stuff... they couldn't add more? Overall a good meal but I didn't inhale it like I used to. I'm not sure if it's COVID reason, or the extra fame from Kobe's death, or a bad pickup experience, but this meal was just ok. There's so many places... This popular Mexican restaurant claims to make the best carnitas in town. It also happened to be the go-to spot for Kobe and Vanessa Bryant for many years. Kobe's untimely death has given El Camino Real a sharp spike in business - with hundreds of people, either dining in or ordering take-out, waiting in the long lines to order at the counter as a way of paying homage to the late, great Los Angeles Lakers star. I don't like breathing down their necks so after about 25 min I asked cashier Karina (same person who took my order). She went back to look and came back asking for my receipt as they probably threw away my ticket on accident but not even one apology was offered and she did not look slightly sorry. The PAL breakfast burrito is back! The current explanation is that they had trouble sourcing the hash browns and thus, it was only a temporary menu change. Do I believe this? Not really, after having several workers tell us multiple times before that the beloved breakfast burrito was permanently gone. But whatever my doubts about why the PAL was gone, ultimately, it's BACK in all its greasy bacon and ham glory and so we are back too. Certain items on El camino's menu continue to disappoint - the weirdly watered down guacamole that tastes like tap water, for example and the completely forgettable green salsa. But their Chile rellenos, excellent refried beans, PAL burrito and that smoke tinged red salsa continue to delight. read more

You would think after the 1st time I would have learned. I gave them 1 more / last chance and I regret it! The last time I was here, they sold the whole rotisserie chicken. The counter girl said the oven broke and was never replaced. So it's been a while. I really liked this place. Recently went in for tacos. I was introduced to something new. The most delicious Chicharron Lonja tacos, a very Crispy pork belly. Top with lime and Chile. HOW I WISH THEY SOLD CERVEZA. Unfortunately, while we were waiting in line, one of the cooks had a half eaten plate of food. He put the remaining rice from his plate back into the rice that is near the glass window alongside the other food. He then threw his plate away, so he must have just come back from lunch and didn't eat his rice. GROSS! Needless to say, we didn't order rice. I was in the OC/Fullerton area and was craving burritos. Used Yelp to search for a yummy place near my doctor. Went to El Camino after my appointment and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant could use a little refresh but it had lots of room inside if you wanted to dine in. You order at the counter and pick up at the counter as well. We ordered a breakfast burritos named after the restaurant El Camino which was delish! Had bunch of items, bacon, cheese, potatoes etc.. also order the Carne Asada burrito which was good as well, but didn't look as big as the breakfast burrito.
