We love coming here. If you ever feel like having a home cooked meal away from home, this is the spot to try. The menudo tastes like your abuela made it. The girls that work here are always nice and friendly.

got steak and eggs with French toast Steak was not a ribeye like the menu said and it was cooked well done and no medium like we asked. Other then that the food was okay. Home patotes where delicious I ordered the chilaquiles and asked to modify for a red sauce and add chili which they don't typically do. It was nice they where able to accommodate me. Sauce was spicy and the tortilla chips had a nice crunch! Over easy eggs where delicious along with the hasbrowns

Our friends have recommended El Cerrito Cafe to us for breakfast. They rave about their chilaquiles. The restaurant was filled to the brim. But we were promptly seated. It did however take some time to get menus, then drinks. But no issue as we were not in much of a hurry. Once we got our drinks the wait to order was quite long. The kids ordered chilaquiles and we ordered the steak and eggs special and menudo.. but they ran out of menudo so I ordered the chorizo and eggs. I had an option of corn or flour tortillas, I went with corn. Please be patient, it's relevant. We adults got our food first and again an extreme amount of time went by before my daughter got her chilaquiles.. but it felt like an eternity for my son who received his chilaquiles. The food was hot and tasted good. I opened my tortillas to find flour.. so I asked for my corn. The wait for tortillas was well, you get the theme. Long. I was two bites away from being done by the time they arrived. If you go, go early so you can try the menudo. Prepare to wait. And before the server can leave make sure you have everything you need for your meal. The food was yummy, we were full. But we did not expect to spend over 2 hours at breakfast. We paid and left... only to realize that we were charged for the menudo, and an additional meal. We had to turn around to be refunded over $22. So bit of an inconvenience but handled promptly by the staff. Food was good, staff was pleasant. Waiting for food, drink, service was long.

Food is delicious. The service has always been good. Always get the chilaquiles here.

Roaches in the food. Coworker bought a breakfast burrito. We cut it in half so we could share, a few bites in... surprise! They should shut down operations and do a deep cleaning of this place. Food inspectors should pay them a visit.

Only got half the sandwich. And this photo doesn't do it justice. Maybe that's a good thing. So they don't get too busy and stay quaint.

What a hidden gem!!! I used to drive by this place twice a day (to and from) on my drive to work. Always wanted to stop but they were only open in the morning. When I walked in today, I was greeted with a cheery hello and seated quickly. I was alone, so I already knew I wanted a chicken sandwich. It came with the crispest iceberg lettuce salads with fresh veggies. It was fantastic. My sandwich was HUGE! And the bread it was served on was so soft and toasty delicious. I also found out the do mimosas and beer. I've found that little hole in the wall that was truly adorable. Can't wait to take my family back. Oh btw... I was excited to think I had the other half of my sandwich still, but when I came back to the fridge after cleaning the house, I only found the empty box! My son "jacked" me. So it looks like the trip back is likely to be sooner than later.

5+++ place I've been to a couple times now and it's great consistent food every time, so much I crave it often. Not greasy oil dripping from your food, but you don't miss on any taste. I got the "a la Mexicana" and my husband got the "machaca" and both of us enjoyed every morsel. Clean, delicious food I am happy I discovered in this town. The service is wonderful and sincere and the staff all work well together with the kitchen. read more

Ordered menudo and a pancake breakfast to go. Super irritated. The girl who packed it, packed the menudo on top of the styrofoam box. So of course, it fell over, causing the menudo to spill. I don't pack food to go, but you would think if you are packing soup to place it in a separate bag. Well, she did not. So I had menudo flavored pancakes . Learn how to pack food. I'll be back but probably not ever ordering menudo to go. read more

This poor restaurant has changed hands more than a hot potato had a bbq! But it has never disappointed. The staff is always efficient, friendly and helpful. The food? Awesome! Weather it's breakfast or lunch always good. Don't know if they've kept the same cook but the food is constantly good. Great little neighborhood place to go and support. read more

Sunday morning so we expected a wait. Took about 30 min to be seated. Not too bad. Once seated and took a look around it was what I would call a hole in the wall cafe. Needs some updating! Food was ok but we were sitting near the restroom which had a horrible smell the whole time. It got worse everytime the bathroom door opened or the rear exit door was opened. Not very pleasant when eating. Service was ok but we will not be back. Much cleaner and less smelly places to go to spend $75 on a simple breakfast. read more

I really enjoy the breakfast burritos because they are made with home fries and they put more ingredients than just the basic ones you get from Alberto's right down the street. Amazing food and even better atmosphere! It's a hidden spot right off el cerrito and worth the drive. I ordered the menudo for my wife and breakfast burrito and will be coming back again as my weekend go to for breakfast. This was my first time eating here I ordered chorizo breakfast plate everything on my plate was excellent! my son ordered the Chilaquiles which were bomb they are in green sauce with pork meat on top served with homestyle fried potatoes and refried beans. When I come back that's what I'm going to order, it was delicious!!!! I will be a regular customer!! read more

I'm a regular and quite confident that you'll LOVE Miguel's food! I haven't tried the whole menu yet but everything I've ever had there has been SMACK DAB DELICIOUS!!! Miguel is living the American Dream of being independent, working hard and sharing his passion with every guest who visits. Our first time at this cafe! If you love good menudo that reminds you of your grandparents with lots of flavor, this is the place. I wasn't planning on getting it at first but so glad I did. Bowl was good size. It would of been incredible if they had bolillio bread or fresh tortillas to dip in the soup. There was a wait on a Sunday morning and service could of been better. I little disappointed the waitress never came back to our table until I flagged her down. They do need more staff. Huevos Rancheros was delicious! That salsa was really good. Prices are reasonable. Give it a try and see what you think. read more

Omg!!! I ordered the chilaquiles plate. It came with a side of beans and loved that fact that they were topped off with queso fresco instead of cheddar,potatoes and two eggs not to mention that they make the chilaquiles with pork and chile verde... IT WAS DELICIOUS! Service and ambience was great. Looks like a familia owned place! Love it! Come and support. I'm not pretty sure but I think it's open only for breakfast and lunch! Definitely going to back!!! read more

Este lugar es completamente recomendado. La atencion es magnifica, nos atendio un joven muy atento (no recuerdo su nombre) pero siempre estuvo atento a nuestro grupo de 5. La comida es muy deliciosa y todos se terminaron todo de sus platillos (señal que estaba delicioso) chilaquiles verdes (los pedimos sin carne) steak con huevo, french toast todo delicioso hasta el cafe estuvo muy rico. We live 20 minutes away but it's worth the drive. I've been coming here for close to 30 years. I've seen it go through so many different owners. And El Cerrito café and these owners are the best it has ever been. Chilaquiles Verde added pork. Mom and pop owned and their kids work for them. Very friendly and attentive. I had some time to kill, yelped up this diner. The ambiance is nice, sat at the bar and was quickly helped by my waitress. Coffee was quickly out and I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs over medium. This is my go to diner order! It came out fairly quickly and was a standard size. My whole plate was tasty, eggs cooked perfectly and home fries were great! While I was waiting the kitchen put out someone else's breakfast burrito. It was massive! This place is a hidden gem. The food was amazing- truly authentic Mexican food. The customer service was wonderful. My husband had the chilaquiles verdes and they were the best we have tasted. Steak tacos: My kid ordered the steak tacos and we brokered a deal to trade some steak for chicken and this was the best deal made since the New Deal (American history). Steak was chunky and juicy and fresh! The only problem with this place is that it is very far from my house as I was in the 'hood for my kids basketball tournament. If I am in the area you better believe that I will be back. Oh yeah, and very affordable for the upscale dining.

We walked in and it was super clean with the nicest hostess/waitress! The food was delicious and Marisa was so kind, sweet and on top of our order! The green enchiladas (I know!
