New building. Same location. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is open and fresh with more dining and air conditioning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They now have a drive thru, which is great. Plenty of parking. The condiment bar is the same with choices of salsas, fresh vegetables and grilled onions and jalapeños. There's also a small meat market.

First time trying sonoran hot dogs and they were so good. I liked how they had a stand where you can build your hot dogs with salsa, pico de gallo, cebolla, horse radish, lime, etc. It was so affordable and so good. Service was fast and efficient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was kinda hot because the interior isn't air conditioned.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just kind of a shaded spot with lots of tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restrooms were outside, and they weren't really cleaned.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, I would def come back when I am in Tucson and want to grab a snack.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]WOW! The service, food, and cleanliness of this restaurant is outstanding.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My wife and I were on vacation with our grandson and stopped by this location for some Sonoran hotdogs and boy was it great. The prices are very reasonable and they also have a salsa bar available for all the sides you would need for your toppings. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Tucson area. The lady that was cleaning and assisting guests at their table was very kind and helpful.

Really you serve this garbage ?

Wow time flies and somethings change for the worse canelo restaurant was a great go to place but now is garbage [[HIGHLIGHT]]the kitchen is filthy might have always been filthy but now with the extra bright lights you can see how much the staff doesn't care about this place[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . Please see the picture of the extra burnt torta bread absolutely zero flavor it's like the flavor town bus stopped coming here . Well we're back to Los Angeles where the food is way over priced but at least it's clean and flavorful I put tacos gavillan up against the canelo garbage any time .

Food was delicious we made the trip down to Tucson after seeing this place on mark wiens YouTube channel and seeing the owners love for the food and his restaurant you could tell he took pride in his work .it was definitely worth it,Service was excellent,The salsa bar was nice being able to get anything you wanted,we got a little bit of everything on the menu and it did not disappoint the flavor of the asada is excellent nice and tender and full of flavor,Would recommend it to anyone driving through Tucson we visited on 2-26-26

Alright, my phone did not eat first because I was starving but I got a caramelo (quesadilla with carne asada) and it was so good! I loved the salsa bar, especially the red salsa, which was super spicy! I think it was a little pricey but it's local and quality authentic food, so it's okay. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of seating and high chairs, which is always a plus.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great service too!

Stopped here for dinner on our way home. We have eaten at the other location before but we were closer to this one and were tired. Got Sonora dogs only reason we came. Great food as last time, we ate and look forward to seeing the new building next time.

El Güero Canelo in Tucson is a must-visit for its authentic Mexican flavors and vibrant atmosphere. We really enjoyed their renowned Sonoran hot dog and complimentary sides and sauces bar. This spot perfectly captures the essence of traditional Mexican street food.

Shame on me for giving them another chance after being previously disappointed multiple other times. We live nearby, so now and then we get a hankering for a couple of Mexican hot dogs; 2 chuchos and 2 sammies, to be specific. I should have known better. For the uninitiated, a sammy dog is a sonoran dog with an extra frank. 2 sammy dogs=4 franks. After waiting 15 minutes to receive my order in a mostly-empty restaurant ~4pm, I got home to discover I received 2 regular, single frank sonoran dogs. My wife is Mexican, a native Spanish speaker. When she places the order, they still get it wrong ~60% of the time. And I mean a standard order; no special requests. When I place the order, the rate falls to about 40%. It's not a language barrier. 'Sammy' is the same in English and Spanish. The errors are the result of a careless and indifferent staff that would rather hablamos behind the counter than give their job the attention it deserves. However, the issue is not the cashier's error. The issue is the manager, Ivan. We called to inform them of the error. "I'm sorry, we'll make you two sammy's. come back when you can and ask for Ivan." That should have been a 2 minute conversation. That's what's a competent manager would have done. But this is Ivan. Ivan proceeded to waste ~10 minutes of our time trying to find a reason why the error is mine and not theirs. As if I'm my motives are to score $10 worth of free hot dogs instead of simply getting home and enjoyed the food I ordered. Ivan offered a refund and a 10% discount to replace the order he messed up. 10% on $10. Ivan offered $1 to compensate me for a slow wait time in a mostly-empty restaurant that yielded an incorrect order, more time wasted on the phone, and several more minutes wasted in person. And they also recently switched to smaller franks. They raised prices and cut portions. The management is careless, rude, and indifferent. It's no surprise the cashiers are a reflection of the poor leadership there. This place has gone steadily downhill in the last 3-4 tears, and we will not be back. El Guero Canelowitz

Was visiting from out of town and we came to try a Sonoran hot dog. We dined in and got the special which was two Sonoran hot dogs and a drink for $11-something. Our food came out fairly quickly, we waited about 5 minutes or so. There was plenty of seating inside (and AC), and a station for toppings (I'm assuming for tacos, burritos, chips, etc).

My boyfriend is from Tucson and wanted to take me to try a Sonoran dog while we were visiting his family over the holiday weekend. I was pretty excited after reading the reviews. We ordered 2 Sonoran dogs and a pack of 3 churros cause why not?! The Sonoran dogs were good but I was surprised how small the hot dogs were. I tasted more bread than I did meat and all the other goodies it comes with. The churros were delicious. But might need to give the Sonoran dogs another try. If I had to compare the Sonoran dog to the hot dogs served jn the streets of LA, I would still choose LA by far.

Good people who run this place make me always want to return. I have always loved the double weenie Sonoran dog but it feels like the dogs are smaller and the bun is the same size. Nevertheless it's tasty. They have the best carne asada quesadillas around. I'll be back

3.5 stars! We were vacationing in Tucson so we thought we should try a Sonoran hotdog and found El Guero Canelo as a worthy place to try (given great reviews for Sonoran dogs in multiple media). I liked that the food there has a local Mexican-ish hole in a wall vibe..and the food is affordable! Everything is pretty much less than $10...even quite lower than that price point! We got Sonoran dogs and a chicken burro to try and it wasn't too long of a wait to get our food at all. I thought the Sonoran dog was just ok. The bread was mushy/softer than any hotdog buns I had elsewhere before. I liked that it had sausage wrapped with bacon and a bit of toppings like beans, tomato, chili, onions in a bun..but overall...the taste was just bland. Same comment for the burro, too.nit wasted good and nothing wrong with it...but even so..more bland than the hot dogs. Overall, it's a good affordable place to grab food..and maybe try the signature Tucson Sonoran dogs..but I wouldn't say it's a place for iconic visit again once you had tried it once in your lifetime already.. I would still consider going there if I need a quick bite+in the area for something casual though..since the food is still good and affordable.

Follow the signs - super efficient!

Which, you know, is kind of the whole point of a restaurant. The atmosphere was great, a little on the nose, but great none the less. It feels like a Mexican dinner or at least what I imagined a dinner in Mexico would look like. The staff where beyond amazing, especially the woman who made our complementary salsa right at the table. And the salsa was yummy but sadly that's the only part of the meal that I can say that about. The thing is, nothing was truly bad, but just about everything was incredibly bland. You'd have expected someone who puts raisins in potato salad to have served it, not an authentic Mexican restaurant. Though the positive is the lack of seasoning is really the only major problem. The food did not have any weird taste, it wasn't dry, the presentation was fine. It simply needs to be seasoned and this place goes to a solid 4/5 rather than a three.

Located in downtown Tucson, this iconic restaurant is full of character and beautifully decorated. We visited on a Saturday around 1 PM without a reservation and were told there would be a wait since the place was packed. They only have air conditioning in the indoor dining areas and basement, not on the outdoor patio. Luckily, we were seated in the basement, which turned out to be perfect. The service was commendable truly some of the sweetest and most attentive service we've experienced in a long time. We started with freshly made chips and salsa, which were an instant hit. For drinks, we ordered the El Tamarindo, Mangopeno, and Monica's Cafetini. For food, we chose the Vegan Jackfruit Taquitos Trio and the Fresh Corn Tamale Platter, which came with a side of squash. The drinks were excellent, with the Mangopeno being my favorite. But the real star of the meal was the tamale platter. Oh my goodness it was absolutely delicious! Everyone at the table kept digging in and couldn't get enough. Even the squash side was so flavorful that we ordered an extra serving. The vegan jackfruit taquitos were a bit too deep-fried for our liking and didn't quite compare to the incredible tamales. To finish, we shared a caramel flan, which was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The pricing was very reasonable, the service was exceptional, and the food was memorable. We will definitely be back again if only for those amazing tamales!

Honestly, I wish I could give Yaquesita a little more, maybe half a star more, because this place definitely has potential. Their flavors are good, but compared to similar restaurants the menu feels a bit overpriced. For a party of three we ended up paying around $100, which felt like a bit much for what we got. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only about 3-4 tables inside, but the patio is a decent size and has a cute vibe. It's actually a nice option on cooler days if you don't mind sitting outside. Some items were better than others. The wet-style burrito was delicious and definitely a highlight. The quesabirrias were good, however the birria felt more like fancier shredded beef. It was missing that rich, spicy, slightly acidic, earthy flavor that usually sets birria apart from barbacoa or traditional shredded beef dishes. The bowl was just okay and had lots of lettuce. It felt more like a salad with a bit of meat, rice, and beans. Honestly, Chipotle does bowls better, and that says a lot considering the price. The nachos were good, but I've had better. Seis Kitchen has amazing nachos to share. That said, it's definitely a place I'd come back to mainly out of convenience, not because one particular item on the menu won my heart. I really do hope they continue refining the menu because the flavors are there and this place could easily become a standout spot. Personally I just think at the total price of my ticket other restaurants should not even have room in my mind during my meal. If you're in the area and looking for a safe bet where everyone will probably find something they like, it's worth giving them a try.
