Staple of Tucson. The food is delicious and simple, small menu. Service is fast and friendly and the restaurant is authentic and rustic. Love this place. Gotta have the famous cheese crisp!

Food: Good number of options for non vegetarian. Fewer options for vegetarian but dishes can be made vegetarian on request. Chips and salsa while we waited for our orders was nice and toasty. Everyone loved the green chile crisp. Folks noted that the food was very very authentic. Family friendly. Good taste. Prices are a little high but they are very generous portions. Burp! :) Service: Ana was our host and she was kind, gentle and patient with us. There was a slip up but she was very quick and efficient at sorting it out for us. Thank you Ana. Ambience: Nice vibes, great decor, tends to get a little full, busy and chatty. Restrooms: Clean, well maintained.

We came for lunch. They had free chips and salsa and we had some Negra Modelas. I am always on the lookout for a mexican pizza and i saw that they had Cheese Crips on the menu. I ordered the Minuto Cheese Crisp with Carne Seca. It came out and it was huge, and delicious. The carne Seca tasted like carne Asada beef jerky, but not tough. I think Cheese Crisp is a Tucson thing because I have not seen in Sacramento or San Francisco. I would say that a Cheese Crisp is like a huge homemade taco bell mexican pizza. The service was good. The whole restaurant has a Mexican old school vibe.

This is old establishment and unfortunately it shows. The server was not as friendly as I hope. Since it was slow, I thought he would be happy to have customers in. The food did come out quickly and hot and fresh. I had ground beef tacos. We ordered cheese crisp. I don't know if the meat they use is different but did not taste well to my taste.

I had always wanted to try this place out. It closes at 3pm so I left my hone early enough. I arrived with an hour to spare. Walking into this place is like stepping into someone's hone. I was seated with a view of the patio. There are two other rooms for diners. I had cheese enchiladas. The food came out within minutes. The service here is top notch. My meal was good but the enchilada sauce was bland. Spicy, yes, but not much more taste to it. Otherwise it was a very satisfying dining experience. The building is across the street from the convention center. I am sure this cute family restaurant gets crowded then.

El Minuto has become our group's go to spot for pre-theater and hockey dining. The service is always fast and there are no shortage of tasty menu items. I almost always get the cheese enchiladas, but the mini chimis, tacos, tortilla soup and chicken topopo are also among my faves And don't forget about the cheese crisps, which I learned last visit reheat wonderfully in an air fryer. The portions are large and the prices more than reasonable. This is still one of Tucson's longstanding gems.

Authentic Sonoran cuisine. Growing up in Tucson, this has always been my go to. Red chili con carne and cheese crisp are my favs.

Traditional and delicious plates. This location is a community staple. Anyone I've asked during my time here in Tucson, "where is one place I must go?" The one place that always came up was El Minuto. Now I know why, great environment, welcoming staff and great eatery. We ordered a few plates to get a variety of the tasting and I must say, the Albondigas soup was my favorite. Such a hearty and flavorful burst in this soup, you can taste the love poured into it. The flautas, and the chimichangas were great. Though very different in taste the tortillas were crisped and chicken (flautas) and ground beef (chimichangas) were savory and bursting through in each bite. The only dislike was we arrived an hour and 15 minutes before close (8pm), and we felt the urgency from the waiter to get our order before we can fully review and decide as if closing was near. Not sure if he was just focused on closing aspect and just wanted to order and bounce, but overall from everyone else it was pleasant and good experience.

Nice little Mexican restaurant downtown, close to the convention center and arena for a bite before a show. We had never been here despite this place being considered a Tucson gem. We were seated right away and the entire staff is very warm and friendly, I believe it is family owned and run. Had the house margaritas (okay), a bean chimichanga for me and Menudo for the hubs. Food was good, but nothing with a wow factor particularly given its Tucson and there are tons of great Mexican restaurants everywhere. Solid meal, nothing more nothing less!

Amazing hospitality from the family that runs this joint. The crisps are a must!! It was so good with great texture and flavor. They have a lunch special so I got a topopo salad to have some greens during this trip.

My hubs suggested that we go to The Frida and see if we could get in. We drive over and guess what, we go lucky, must have been that everyone had a 4th of July hangover. We sat at the bar and couldn't be happier. Our server/bartender took great care of us, he offered us drinks, took our food order and made my hubby a really good Margarita, The Frida Margarita, he said it was bomb! I ordered a beer and it came with a chilled glass and lime wedge. We decided on the flautas and the mole enchiladas. Both fantastic, tasty and hearty! I got full with two enchiladas so I donated the third to my hubby, which he was super happy to eat. I have to say, the mole sauce was decadent and full of flavors. It really reminded me of my grandmas mole. It also left a delicious numbing (very slight) on my lips. Perfect balance of nutty, spicy, almost semi sweet goodness. Gorgeously prepared and looked almost too good to eat. Almost..... The place was full, we were still able to have a conversation. It was amazing. Will definitely be back to continue to enjoy the carefully curated menu. Everyone seemed happy and relaxed! This screams a great place to work and obviously enjoy. Well done La Frida! Well done!

Which, you know, is kind of the whole point of a restaurant. The atmosphere was great, a little on the nose, but great none the less. It feels like a Mexican dinner or at least what I imagined a dinner in Mexico would look like. The staff where beyond amazing, especially the woman who made our complementary salsa right at the table. And the salsa was yummy but sadly that's the only part of the meal that I can say that about. The thing is, nothing was truly bad, but just about everything was incredibly bland. You'd have expected someone who puts raisins in potato salad to have served it, not an authentic Mexican restaurant. Though the positive is the lack of seasoning is really the only major problem. The food did not have any weird taste, it wasn't dry, the presentation was fine. It simply needs to be seasoned and this place goes to a solid 4/5 rather than a three.

Located in downtown Tucson, this iconic restaurant is full of character and beautifully decorated. We visited on a Saturday around 1 PM without a reservation and were told there would be a wait since the place was packed. They only have air conditioning in the indoor dining areas and basement, not on the outdoor patio. Luckily, we were seated in the basement, which turned out to be perfect. The service was commendable truly some of the sweetest and most attentive service we've experienced in a long time. We started with freshly made chips and salsa, which were an instant hit. For drinks, we ordered the El Tamarindo, Mangopeno, and Monica's Cafetini. For food, we chose the Vegan Jackfruit Taquitos Trio and the Fresh Corn Tamale Platter, which came with a side of squash. The drinks were excellent, with the Mangopeno being my favorite. But the real star of the meal was the tamale platter. Oh my goodness it was absolutely delicious! Everyone at the table kept digging in and couldn't get enough. Even the squash side was so flavorful that we ordered an extra serving. The vegan jackfruit taquitos were a bit too deep-fried for our liking and didn't quite compare to the incredible tamales. To finish, we shared a caramel flan, which was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The pricing was very reasonable, the service was exceptional, and the food was memorable. We will definitely be back again if only for those amazing tamales!

Honestly, I wish I could give Yaquesita a little more, maybe half a star more, because this place definitely has potential. Their flavors are good, but compared to similar restaurants the menu feels a bit overpriced. For a party of three we ended up paying around $100, which felt like a bit much for what we got. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only about 3-4 tables inside, but the patio is a decent size and has a cute vibe. It's actually a nice option on cooler days if you don't mind sitting outside. Some items were better than others. The wet-style burrito was delicious and definitely a highlight. The quesabirrias were good, however the birria felt more like fancier shredded beef. It was missing that rich, spicy, slightly acidic, earthy flavor that usually sets birria apart from barbacoa or traditional shredded beef dishes. The bowl was just okay and had lots of lettuce. It felt more like a salad with a bit of meat, rice, and beans. Honestly, Chipotle does bowls better, and that says a lot considering the price. The nachos were good, but I've had better. Seis Kitchen has amazing nachos to share. That said, it's definitely a place I'd come back to mainly out of convenience, not because one particular item on the menu won my heart. I really do hope they continue refining the menu because the flavors are there and this place could easily become a standout spot. Personally I just think at the total price of my ticket other restaurants should not even have room in my mind during my meal. If you're in the area and looking for a safe bet where everyone will probably find something they like, it's worth giving them a try.
