I've been here a couple of times now and El Moro has never disappointed. I usually get the churros but today I finally got to try the churro ice cream sandwich with vanilla ice cream. They were sold out of the vanilla ice cream the past couple times; I've also tried the mini ice cream churro sandwiches and I much prefer this one since the churro part is bigger. It's sweet as expected but not overly sweet! The churro is also not as crunchy as the regular churro but I'm not complaining since the ice cream and churro still complemented each other. I've been here twice now and I ordered the Hot Chocolate Especial in the regular size for $4. I was craving the hot chocolate for weeks after I had it for the first time because it was so rich, silky, and not too sweet. You really get a lot for what you pay for. I just went back again today, and unfortunately I didn't get the same experience. The hot chocolate was watery, gritty, and just not the rich silky texture from the first time which is why I knocked off a star for inconsistency. I'm willing to try it one more time to see if this is just a fluke because it really is delicious. The service is very efficient though! No problems with that, the workers are very kind. Came here in the afternoon on Xmas Eve and it was really quiet. There was no line at all. Got the churros, paid extra for the condensed milk sauce, and the hot chocolate. Everything was so yummy and made fresh. Though the price is a little steep, they are cheaper than churros at Disney, and taste way better than Costco Churros. TLDR: Highly recommend bringing your churro junkies here. They will be pleased for sure. Get the churro and caleta dip, and make sure to eat it while it's hot and fresh! The churro: I think amusement parks, fairs, or any other random churro vendor has churros that are overly caked in cinnamon sugar, quite dense, and seem to take on a stale taste and texture rather quickly (if not off the bat). These churros are delicious! They are light & crispy & u end up with a little ASMR moment to yourself. :). They are definitely sweet, but I want to say it's not too sweet the way a normal churro would be because it's not overly caked with cinnamon sugar. Perhaps that's up to the server, so essentially you could even ask them to shake off extra sugar For this reason, it actually pairs well with the dips they have for $1. The Caleta: I got the most popular dip, the caleta (caramelized milk), and it was yum! The dip looks just like caramel, but surprisingly is more rich, warm, and buttery than it is sweet. It looks thick, but actually is the perfect dipping consistency. I wish they would sell this in a jar tbh. Goodbye caramel, and hello Caleta. All caramel dips should be replaced with Caleta now. One tip: Buy this when you can eat it fresh! We actually had some leftover churro sitting around and an hour later they were still kinda crispy, but they started taking on a little more of that churro vendor cart feel & you notice the taste of the oil more. WOW. Just WOW! Amazing churros. It's located in the Northgate Mercado which is a neat concept of Hispanic culture and food. It's a really fun place to hang out and eat. We came here for El Moro because I saw it on Instagram but ended up walking around because we were intrigued by the Mercado. Let's just say it might be one of the best churros I've ever had. My other favorite is the churros don Abel truck. Authentic churros that are pretty cheap. We got 12 huge ones for $12.50. There was a long line but worth the wait. It actually only takes like max 10 mins since it's a grab and go kind of place after you order. Came here on a Sunday afternoon & the line was all the way outside. There's a security guard who will let your group in a few at a time so that people aren't blocking the entrance, I believe. It was our first time so we were already overwhelmed with the market itself & then this place has a little QR code on the wall for you the scan so that you can check the menu out before heading to the register. We decided on the 4 count churro & my wife wanted the horchata frappe but I wanted to try the horchata latte but once we got to the counter we were informed that all the lattes were sold out. The girl working the counter didn't seem to friendly and she actually seemed annoyed with us. We decided to get 2 horchata frappes instead and proceeded down the line to watch them make the churros. That was really cool to see everything done right in front of you. The line does move quick and so it probably took about 10-15 minutes from beginning to end. The churros were delicious. Well, we stood in line purchased the churros and they are BETTER than the Disneyland churros. For $2.50 per churro or 4 for $9.00, the price and quality were the best. This shop is now our favorite when we need to get our churro fix. It was fun watching them make the churro right at the window. After the churro shop, there was a bakery too.
