    Burnt chicken tortilla soup
    Lisa U.

Saturday May 11, 2024 my husband brought home some chicken tortilla soup because I wasn't feeling well , it's was more like burnt chicken tortilla soup . I had to throw it in the trash , how could you offer this to your customers thinking no one going to notice that the chicken was burnt . So disappointed!

    Clarissa M.

Very un happy with my double chicken salad I love there salads but this one was just ridiculous and I'm very upset with el pollo right now I only took three bites and this is what my salad looks like whoever sold this they very much knew that they were in the wrong. There wasn't any lettuce, avocado was nasty looking just a very sad salad .

Look at the amount of meat and how even in the Picture the chicken looks extra dry !!!

The place was clean and the food looked freshly prepared. So today was the day I chose to pull up and the restaurant was a little more tidier than before making feel good about coming in. Immediately greeted upon entry and the host was attentive and proficient. New comer so I ordered the 4pc Krunch Box and was able to choose between leg thigh and wing pieces. So two thighs and two wings sufficed for me with the a Honey Biscuit and Red Beans and Rice. Dined in and was appreciative of having a bottle of my favorite hot sauce (Sriracha) that paired well with my Chicken. The Chicken was indeed Krispy with a tender bite. Somewhat oily but wasn't bad. The Honey Biscuit was a treat indeed. The Red Beans and Rice also making the cut without too many detractors for its consistency. Long story short. I will surely visit again for that quick bite when I have a craving. Gratitude and give thanks Krispy Krunchy Chicken and Staff for providing an environment to sit and enjoy a late lunch. I liked how for your side dish you can choose fried rice, chow mein OR Singapore rice noodles which is what I chose. If you don't want something from the window, you can order à la carte off the menu and they'll make it fresh. Those items that are made to order obviously cost more than the combos. The prices are very reasonable and I look forward to going back to order à later carte items for take out. Other than the somewhat shady parking lot out front, the only other downside is that if the items in the window have been sitting too long, they see out and aren't fresh.

The Spanish omelet was ok. The sauce was meh...it lacked the love that was provided from the old Dinah's. I do look forward to them refining their flavors and find their own taste profile. The decor was cute but lacked the charm and warmth of the old location. It seemed cookie cutter and dated...it follows a base format with no originality to set it apart from other restaurants. Would 10/10 go back as long as Sammi is working. Will walk out if she is not there. I stay loyal to good customer service.

The restaurant said it was made with white sea bass, but the fish was cut into unusually large cubes that were awkward to eat and a bit too firm to bite through comfortably. More importantly, the fish itself lacked flavor. The biggest disappointment, however, was the leche de tigre. Instead of the bright, citrusy, balanced flavor that defines a great Peruvian ceviche, it tasted more like a ginger soup. The ginger completely overpowered the dish, making it difficult to recognize the classic flavors of authentic Peruvian ceviche. The chicken skewers were also underwhelming. When I order Peruvian-style skewers, I expect them to be grilled over charcoal or an open flame, with a smoky aroma and a nicely charred exterior. Instead, these lacked that signature grilled flavor. While the seasoning had potential, they were noticeably over-salted, and the bottom pieces were soggy, almost as if they had been sitting in their own juices instead of coming straight off the grill. What made the experience harder to justify was the price. We spent over $70 before tip for two entrées, two drinks, and a small side of huancaína sauce. At those prices, I expect authentic flavors and strong execution. Unfortunately, neither dish delivered enough quality to match the cost. The service was friendly, and I genuinely wanted to like this place, but the food fell short. Los Angeles has some excellent Peruvian restaurants, and based on this visit, I don't think Huarique is one I'd return to.

This place isn't just a meal; it's a whole experience. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a cheerful, colorful energy that instantly puts you in a good mood. The vibe is casual, funky, and full of personality--think beach shack meets Caribbean street food with a California twist. Now let's talk about the star of the show: the Coconut Fried Chicken. Honestly, this dish alone is worth the trip. The first bite is pure magic--Crispy coconut-battered golden-brown crust with juicy chicken inside served with sweet mango and jerk dipping sauce. It's crunchy and flavorful without being overwhelming. The coconut adds this unexpected tropical note that elevates it far beyond your typical fried chicken. Pair it with their sides (the dirty rice and potatos are a must), and you've got a plate that's comforting, exciting, and totally unforgettable. What makes Cha Cha Chicken stand out is how consistently it delivers on flavor while keeping things relaxed. The portions are generous, the spices are on point, and everything tastes like it was made with care--and a little bit of island-inspired love. It's the kind of food you find yourself craving again way too soon. Whether you're a local or just passing through Santa Monica, Cha Cha Chicken is a must-visit. It's fun, it's flavorful, and that Coconut Fried Chicken? Straight-up legendary. Only Downside - Pricey!

But something always kept me at bay, and I think it was the pizza sauce. Yes, you can ask for no pizza sauce, but maybe that's the magic that keeps folks coming back? Who knows? For transparency, I ordered my first cheesesteak from them online, not in person. For me, a cheesesteak needs three things: cheese, chopped beef, and grilled onions -- and maybe a squirt of mayo. Don't come down on me, but that's how I like 'em. The sandwich had good weight in my hand, although it was a little smaller compared to some others I have had. It smelled great, but honestly, it was just OK. Nothing really stood out. The cheese disappeared into the meat and bread, and the steak could have used a little more seasoning. I ate half and decided to put the rest aside for later. Why? Because my other favorite thing to eat is hot dogs -- and I ordered one of those too! So let's talk about what comes to mind when you hear "hot dogs." You picture a plump hot dog in a bun with mustard, relish, maybe some onions, all served on a steamed bun -- maybe with sesame or poppy seeds if you're lucky. Nope. This hot dog was served in the same type of roll as the cheesesteak, with two hot dogs split in half, trying to look like they were cooked on the flattop. I think they may have just been boiled. Then, on top of that, you get lettuce, tomatoes, and maybe a squirt of mustard. I thought, "OK, this is different. It still has hot dogs in it!" So I removed the lettuce and tomatoes and gave it another try. Unfortunately, the flavor just wasn't there for me. I didn't check if they were labeled as ALL-BEEF hot dogs or if they were simply "hot dogs," which could be a blend of beef, turkey, pork, and chicken. I pulled one of the dogs out and took a bite -- and I just couldn't finish it. Sorry guys, but this one was a pass for me. I went back to the other half of my cheesesteak and happily finished it off. Would I go back? I'm not sure. Maybe I'll try it again with the pizza sauce? Many other reviewers love their sandwiches, so maybe I just caught them on an off day. We'll see. If I do go back, I'll come back and let everyone know how it went. Happy eating, everyone! What have you eaten today?
