The bowl comes with pillowy soft rice topped with chopped chicken, pinto beans, Monterey jack cheese, cabbage, sour cream, corn, salsa fresca, and avocado slices. The chicken, of course, is excellent. It's tender with a nice chargrill. The tiny dollop of sour cream with all the veggies tricks you into thinking it could possibly be healthy. I've never eaten at El Pollo Loco before and tried it the night before I was flying home. It was so good. I couldn't believe how good their chicken is. If they had one back home I'd be here every week. Please open a location in Honolulu. I got the two piece chicken meal with a breast and wing. It comes with two sides and warm tortillas. I chose corn and mashed potatoes with gravy for my sides. The cashier asked if I wanted corn or flour tortillas. I asked her if they had anything crunchy as I don't like soft tortillas. She said that she could give me tortilla chips instead and asked if I wanted salsa. I got the house mild salsa. The grilled chicken was tender and moist. It's made with fresh chicken that has never been frozen. The marinade they use for the chicken is fantastic, you can just taste that hint of lime. They baste the chicken as it's being grilled. The sides were terrific as well. The corn was seasoned and had a natural sweetness to it. The mashed potatoes were creamy and was good with the savory gravy. The tortilla chips were nice and crispy. I could tell that they were fresh. The house salsa mild had a serious kick. They call it mild, but to me it was spicy. I was reaching for the water after each bite. The cashier and the people working in the kitchen were really friendly. They even wanted to pose in my pics, lol. I cracked some jokes with them. Been frequenting this place for years to the point where the manager, Vielca, recognizes me. Our family have been customers here for years, in fact since it opened. There is the flavor and volume of food that has been consistent for all of those years, until 2022. Specifically, the amount and quality of chicken now provided in the Original Pollo bowl has diminished. The whole chunks of chicken that we previously received, have been replaced by one or two chunks, and the rest shreds and scraps. They spread across thinly to make it look you you got a decent amount. So the quality of the chicken has been lowered, and the amount is about half of what was the norm. Was told that the price of the BRC Burrito was $4.29. I checked the menu at the Colima Road and Azusa Avenue location (in the nearby City of Industry) has the BRC at $2.49. I mentioned the near 2x price difference to the manager and she told me that "we are a franchise and we set our own prices). In essence, this particular "franchise" chooses to take advantage of their customers because they're a "franchise", while the "corporate" location in City of Industry (less than 3 miles away I might add) can "afford to price their burritos lower. I've been going to this El Pollo Loco for years and went today after a long hike. I ordered a Chipotle Chicken Avocado Burrito and Chicken Taco Al Carbon in the drive thru. The drive thru audio was a bit difficult to hear but I think it was the person speaking since a second person helped with my order and it was much easier to hear afterwards. My order cost about $11 in total - the burrito was almost $8 and the taco was $2.29. I remember the price of the taco more because I was disappointed with it. I would not buy it again as it should not have been more than $1. However, the burrito was good and they were generous with the sauce and bag of cilantro. I think the prices might have increased since I remember the churros were 2 for $1 but now they are 2 for $1.99. I didn't order churros but the overall prices at El Pollo Loco are pretty fair and the food is always solid. Drive thru lady was very rude. When she was returning my credit card, she was tapping it really hard like she was rushing me. I ask for hot sauce and she rudely told me they where out. When I looked at my receipt, I was over charged. When I confronted the Mgr, she said the price changed. I looked at the online menu for their store and it was still the old price. I'm not really sure why this location has an underwhelmingly rating. This location I guess is the best among all El Pollo Loco around Rowland Heights. The service is nice the server greeted me as soon as I arrived and asked for ehat I would order. The ambience was also nice with a clean environment and the bathroom wasn't smelly and dirty. The last but not the least, the food was served quickly after I ordered, both my in store order and online order. This is one of my go to el pollo loco spots! I've been coming here the last year. Today I decided to get 2 orders of the 16 pc family meal, so it definitely was a lot. The food was as expected. We got rice, black beans, broccoli, corn, and mashed potato for sides. As someone who is mostly gluten and dairy free, this place gives me many options! I usually go for rice and broccoli. I love that they offer corn tortillas too. Definitely very filling and more for lunch tomorrow! I'll definitely be back. The food is pretty economical and decently good, so I'd recommend anyone who is considering this to just give it a try. Food is delicious, but like many fast food places don't expect service to be compared to a five star restaurant. My family and I would and will still travel to this location to get our food, but we definitely advise everyone to always check their food and make sure that the workers provided everything. There was a time where they forgot to give us our extra salsa, and another time when they gave us the wrong drink, etc. I personally wouldn't be upset with minor mistakes but I can understand that this is a reoccurring inconvenience. I don't usually write reviews unless I have a super bad or amazing experience. Fortunately, this review is for the latter reason of my reviews. I got in a big fight with my brother and was having a very terrible evening until one of the employees at this chain cheered me up. He started by taking my order and kindly asking me how I was doing. Clearly, I wasn't doing very well so he was very comforting and kept checking up on me. Unfortunately, my evening got even worse, so I had to leave the restaurant covered with tears and as I was leaving, he was wishing me a better evening which is something I truly appreciated. Covered in tears, I sat in my car crying and right when I was able to see God's light in the situation I was in (I am a believer of Jesus Christ), he came to me with a bag of bread from a bakery right next door to El Pollo loco to cheer me up. The craziest part was that he had the same name as my brother, Chris. He was truly an angel sent from God and I will forever cherish the kind gesture he did for me. Chris, if you ever come across this, and I'm not sure if you're a believer of Jesus Christ or not, but I genuinely wanted to say thank you for being an instrument of His love. You have truly touched my heart and I know you'll continue to shine light on other lives as well! Now I can leave to Europe feeling a lot better :) it's moments like this that really restores my faith in humanity. BTW! I made up with my brother, so my evening did in fact get better!
