In the order, I got the 24 Mixed Pieces of Chicken with Chips, Salsa Fresca, Extra Large Mac N Cheese, Extra Large Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Corn/Flour Tortillas, Extra Large Loco Salad, and 12 Churros (3 Course Meal). What I appreciated was that the order was prepared right on time. I didn't have to wait any additional time like at some other El Pollo Loco locations. The staff members were welcoming and kind. They even offered to help me carry my order to the car. The business meeting was a success. Everyone stated that the food was delicious. I did not know that the place was under renovation but one of the customers told me that it have to go through drive thru to pick up my ordered meal. As soon as I arrived home I noticed that the cilantro salad dressing and tortilla were missing. i did not feel like going back so I just used my own dressing and ate the food without the tortilla. The workers didn't smile at all when I picked my food Up. The chicken was good though and I'm satisfied but customer service sucked! Sitting in this restaurant is like sitting in an echo chamber there's nothing to soften blows of your loud talking neighbors. I ordered taco soup and a small chicken taco. Being familiar with what holding temperature should be for hot food. I took a spoonful of soup and abruptly suffered second-degree burns on my tongue. I don't know what their holding. Temperature is, but it is definitely above what is acceptable for safe human consumption. The soft taco that I ordered had a lot more filling than it had chicken. My husband had the ball which looked very interesting. That was tasteless and lukewarm to family couldn't have given some of the soup heat to his bowl. Was walking from the grocery store to get some water and saw this restaurant. Completely dead and thought it was closed. Went inside and it looks like the dining room hadn't been cleaned for hours. There was one other customer sitting alone eating. Order a combo and a tortilla soup and one of the sauces was scorching hot so had to let that mellow out a bit. 01/20/25. 2:30pm I went to the drive thru and order a double chicken tostada with no sour cream, and when I got home it came with sour cream. I had to drive 20 minutes back for them to remake. The girl that took my order in the drive thru didn't hear me , because she was charging the customer in front of me and taking my order at the same time. When I returned to the store she asked for the receipt, then proceeded to tell me she didn't put in it on the receipt.( meaning she didn't pressed the button no sour cream.) The employees here often turn off the outside lights to the drive thru to make it look like they are closed at 8:30-9:00 even though they are open til 10pm. I know they do this, so every once in awhile I pull up anyway and you can tell they are annoyed! But it's not like it's 10 mins to closing? They still have an hour+ of being open. This El Pollo Loco in Howe Ave is one of the bigger and better locations they have. They have a good size dining room and a nice outdoor dining area too. The dining areas are clean and comfortable. I received a nice greeting when I walked into the restaurant. The employees are also available for my order as soon as I'm ready. Fast and attentive! I have my food ready for me in less than 5 minutes. The Chicken Nachos are very good. The parking lot in this location is big and very easy to found a parking space close to the front door. This was our first time going to El Pollo Loco. The chicken was great, but that doesn't warrant for the rest of the food that was not great. We ordered eight piece family meal that comes with two sides, which cost around $23 with the extra avocado in the salad. This is supposed to feed 3 to 4 people, but honestly I would say it feeds two at the most.. Our meal came with eight pieces of chicken, about a cup and a half of beans, a small green salad with limp tostada chips and no dressing at all. Four corn tortillas. There weren't any forks or napkins in the bag so if we had not gone home we would've been stranded somewhere with our meal. We ordered online at 7:50 PM, and our order was supposed to be ready at 8:05 PM. When we got there the meal was not ready and we eventually walked out with our food at 8:25 PM . Overall, not a great experience, and I don't think will be going back. I could've gotten two chickens and a large salad at Costco for the same amount of money. Given the state of the restaurant( it looks a little dumpy on the outside with most of the lights and the light strand being burned out and trash around the front parking lot. I only walked in for a moment to see what was taking my husband so long, in the front area I had stuff on the ground. Ive seen El pollo loco before but have never gave it a chance and im happy i did today! I came in and i was greeted instantly by Maira and that made me feel great. I was studying the menu and asked maira about the fire grill combos and she pointed out at the pollo bowl being one of the popular items on the fire grill combos. i also was curious about the new habanero sauce and i got a side of that as well as the 1.99 (2)churros. Im glad i gave this place a try I absolutely loved it! Enjoyed me some mexican music while having my food.
