Horrible service when you call in your order. I literally saw the staff member war up a block of cheese for my chips and queso order. They took over 20 minutes to come to the window to greet me. Have visited the Riverside location in Austin and the experience has been consistently good. I was surprised they opened a brand new location up north and asked the lady who seemed to be the owner/manager if they were part of the same restaurant, she replied yes. The location is built beautifully. They have a walk up counter, dine in and a bar. Owner sat us down and then Samantha served us. She seemed annoyed as if her shift had ended or was asked to stay longer. She got my order wrong, when asked, I was lied to and said i got what I ordered thinking I didn't know Mexican food. I didn't argue. She was sweeping and cleaning tables in between serving her tables. We would have to wait for drink refills, chips/salsa, or to pay our bill. Note to owner/manager... I only come here for the breakfast and I've had enough bad experiences to say that I'll never be going back. There breakfast tacos are small, smaller than any other taco I've had before. The flavor is fine, but the tacos are so small and you are still paying, on average, more than $2 a taco. Service is friendly, but don't waste your time trying to call in a order. They have one phone line and it's always busy. Parking is horrible also (since it's connected to a gas station). If you get there during high traffic times, you may have to park at a gas pump (don't be that guy). read more

The breakfast tacos are excellent but the service today was horrible. Left after close to an hour of everyone who came in after us getting served, eating and leaving and us with no food. Well they opened up the new El Taquito and after waiting an hour today and watching people actually sit down and eat and leave before I got my to-go order just shows how much disorganization this place has. Not sure if the same owners are handling this place but they do not have any idea of customer service. After waiting an entire hour I got an offer of queso. When someone calls in sick you figure out how to make things run smoothly. Wasting staff time by refilling small to-go containers of salsa would be step one put a salsa bar up there and making better use of the team's time. Step 2 don't try to do GrubHub or delivery if you can't keep up with your own clients that are here on site. 3 and most importantly do not put people at the front cashier that cannot get people in and out of there in a efficient manner. I'm still giving them 4 stars. They have great customer service!! The young girl that works the counter is always pleasant & answers any questions you have about their menu. She seems to also be the one that answers the phone too, so it makes to-go orders very easy. Fresh warm chips on tap. Multiple different salsas & sauces to put on your food. Fresh limes & a few authentic Mexican drinks to choose from seems to make everyone happy. While I'll never abandon this place, the food today was very bland! Even with onion, tomato & jalapeño cooked into my eggs, it was pretty bland. I don't like killer spicy food, but I definitely added a few of their (always) delicious salsas, fresh lime & salt!! My kids all tore through their breakfast tacos and pancakes. I need to try their dinner plates. No real complaints. Delicious tortillas! Like my wife Joy C. I too have eaten at every location around Austin for this restaurant. Real Mexican food in ATX is not hard to found, but good interior Mex food is. This location is just down the street from my house, and they are only open till 3pm. The quality is as good as the full service locations and the service is always friendly. Try to avoid the peak lunch rush though, it can get crowded in there. read more

My family eats at El Taquito every week. Everything on the menu is amazing but our favorites are the Tampiquena steak, cheese enchiladas with Tex mex, and El pastor tacos. Christian is an amazing bar tender and I highly recommend the spicy cucumber margarita. Juan is as awesome waiter and stays on top of everything. Luna is so nice and always makes us laugh and smile. The good one when we went at night and everything was super fast and service was excellent. The bad one we went on a busy Sunday and service was slow. Food took almost an hour to arrive. I've been going to this place for awhile and the food is typically good but today I went and for some reason they took the best item on their menu off which is the shrimp cocktail. The reason why I'm giving this bad review is I paid $43 for 4 margaritas and a taco. But the margaritas that were $9 a piece were made from some cheap tequila and were horrible and not worth $9 each. I mean I can make a better frozen margarita that's worth $9 and not $3-$5. So if the restaurant reads this please by better tequila. read more

With all the options of Mexican restaurants around this one isn't worth the time. We went around 2:30 so not busy and still took our waitress almost 5 min to come greet us and take our orders. On top of it all she wasn't friendly. Like others mentioned -- the chips are store bought instead of freshly made. (Saw them emptying the big bag into the warmer). The food -- we ordered the fajita tacos. They tasted like they'd be cooked with the old El Paso taco seasoning mix. Even the grease that ran off looked like it. The fajita meat wasn't in slices either -- it was chopped up into very small pieces. The side of rice and beans we ordered wasn't impressive either. Very bland and couldn't even eat the rice it tasted weird. I'll be chalking this one up. If you need something in the area try Morelia's. read more

Our experience at "El taquito" was amazing. Truly an authentic mexican restaurant, the fruit waters were fresh, and perfectly sweetened. The melted cheese with "chorizo" was of the highest quality. The "guacamole" was one of the best I've had; perfectly cold and fresh. I had the "Bandera " enchiladas and each had the perfect taste of mexican cuisine, including what it appeared to be handmade corn tortilla. Really wasn't sure how good this place was going to be, but I was pleasantly surprised. First of all it was very clean. Placed the order ordered chicken chilaquiles, and also the chilaquiles migas with pork. Both plates came out within minutes of being ordered, hot and tasty to the last bite. We were given some tostadas with three different salsas which were really good. The wait staff was a bit slow in taking all customers needs. I have been going to El Taquito for forever and ever since they have moved to this new restaurant the wait times and service have been horrible. To start, they don't answer their phone now so if you want to place a to-go order good luck because they won't answer. After waiting for 1 HOUR for 8 breakfast tacos my order was missing a taco. After getting home and opening them all up 3 tacos were completely wrong. The management and staff was not accommodating even when my food was incorrect after waiting one hour or during my one hour wait. I will NOT be returning to this location ever. read more

I tried this place today, and I will definitely be back. I had chilaquiles con huevos with eggs over easy and salsa verde. It was delicious. The side of potatoes was also delicious, but the refried beans needed more salt for my taste. They serve breakfast until 3pm which is also great. First of all, the place looks big and spacious from the outside but once you walk in the place looks unorganized and dirty and its kind of small. Trash on the floor, many unclean tables, patio was dirty, no manager in sight and all waitresses and waiters mindlessly walking around. Many tables were available but they said no one can serve us, we ended up leaving as well as another family who had arrived after us. Asked a family who was already seated how long they've been waiting for their food and they said 40 min. Employees weren't moving fast enough to make sure customers were being seated and served. read more
