I wish I could give them a negative. Their phones are always off the hook. Like wtf. This place needs a new manager or owner. Freaking horrible. Always missing items or food is so greasy.

Food: Great! The chips & salsa were great. The salsa had a smoky flavor that made it addictive, and the chips were great. The tacos were delicious as well. What's cool is that you can order tacos individually or order a plate combo that comes with rice & beans (which were tasty as well). The Crema Enchiladas were great too. No complaints. We had the El Vampiro & the Mangonada drinks. I don't think the El Vampiro paired well with the meals, but it was still good! The Service: our waitress was friendly. She kind of disappeared near the end of our meal when it came to check out. I'm not sure what happened there. We were still greeted by another individual who helped us check out. Ambiance: the restaurant seemed a bit small when you walked inside, but the tables were very roomy, and it looks like they can host bigger tables if needed. The artwork around the restaurant was also a nice touch. I love that it's family-owned. I'd come back here again. Definitely recommend!

Frozen margaritas are a great option here especially during hot weather days. Ambiance is not fine dining and very casual. Outdoor areas had misters. I got service quickly and bar had plenty of room and tvs. Food was good but not great. Chicken was tender but there wasn't much flavor too it, their sauces helped add the flavor. Chips and salsa was Doritos and salsa and just not the same when hot out of the fryer chips. Service was great and with a smile. This is a casual place for me as it's close by.

It is a small, neighborhood restaurant. Try the enchilada bandera. Also recommend the mojito margarita.

The restaurant was spotless, and even the restroom was exceptionally clean, which says a lot about the pride they take in their establishment. The food was absolutely worth every penny. The migas were more like a veggie omelette. Again good but not what we wanted. The masa balls were a bit undercooked, at least for our tastes. We also had Phoebe's Benedict. We asked for over hard eggs and they came out crispy. The ham was almost as thick as the bread. The ambiance was a little ruined for us when we were sat right next to another table just a foot away from us. That's ok if it was crowded but there were plenty of open tables and staff. The service was good. The food came out fast. Just not quite what we like.

The size of the serving platter will utterly astound you so be ready for a stuffed gut! We both ordered the Baha chicken wraps & fries; we had to take these home with us and consumed them the next night: best wraps I've had served from any establishment and this was a day after we purchased them. Our food was delivered to the table. The utensils are plastic and the meals were served in plastic baskets. The food was tasty and again, the gentleman that took our order was great. But the condition of the restaurant is most likely why I won't return.

We ordered the grilled cheese with tomato soup, chicken and waffles, and the strawberry and cream waffle with Biscoff spread. Before I get to the food, I want to recognize the excellent customer service. Since it was my first visit, I had quite a few questions. The employee helping us was patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. She walked us through all of the flight options, and let us know that everything was made fresh to order, so there would be a short wait. I appreciated the transparency, and when our food arrived I soon found out it was worth the wait. The standout for me was the grilled cheese waffle with tomato soup. The soup tasted homemade, with bright tomato flavor and generous chunks of tomato throughout. It was fresh, and absolutely delicious. The grilled cheese featured a flavorful muenster and provolone instead of the standard cheddar you find everywhere else, and the waffle itself was crispy on the outside with a perfect gooey cheese pull. My friend enjoyed the strawberry and cream waffle with Biscoff spread since I'm not a huge fan of Biscoff. I did try the strawberries and cream, though, and both were excellent. The strawberries were fresh, sweet, and firm, while the cream tasted rich and homemade. The chicken and waffles were outstanding. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and well seasoned, and the waffle had a wonderful texture: light and airy inside with a crisp exterior. It was served with syrup and a remoulade-style sauce. The restaurant is clean, welcoming, and thoughtfully decorated with fun murals, word art and nods to Round Rock. For a first visit, Waffle Love made a fantastic impression. The next time I'm in Round Rock, I'll be ordering another waffle flight, probably the same 3 selections, just without the Biscoff spread.

John passed away in early 2024, while his family took over the shop in Pflugerville. Now just about a decade after opening shop, Brotherton's is closing down at the end of August. Following John's passing, they've hit a few road bumps from the rising cost of beef that's been plaguing Texas BBQ. Earlier in January they posted on social media how they were struggling, and again last spring. At the start of August, the Brotherton's family announced Brotherton's Black Iron BBQ in Pflugerville was shuttering for good at the end of August. Knowing this would be the last time I would be able to try it, my buddy and I took an extended lunch break on a Friday to give it a shot. Upon arrival at just around 11:50, we noticed that the parking lot was packed with multiple food trucks and other businesses filling the shopping center. We got lucky with a parking spot far away as we marched inside to wait in line. On the door lay plenty of stickers from different BBQ joints from Texas and beyond, with even some coming from overseas. The line moved slowly but surely, and as we got to the front we got our three-meat plate with a bonus slice of turkey for good measure. We ended up getting to Brotherton's at the perfect time because we got the final slices of brisket on that glorious Friday. I'll share my thoughts on everything we tried: Brisket: Though it looked like a great cut that was nicely seasoned, it was pretty fine overall. Nothing remarkable about their brisket while still very fatty. Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage: Juicy, cheesy, not really too spicy on the jalapeño side of things, but that might just be from the mildness of jalapeños these days. Pork Ribs: These suckers looked incredible from the pictures I saw online and on social media, but they were kinda disappointing based on how incredible they looked visually. They were good, just not as epic as I was hoping. Turkey: Turkey is underrated in the BBQ scene, and this is no exception. A nice cut of meat! Cornbread Casserole: I could've eaten the whole thing myself, so it was a shame that we were sharing. Green Chili Mac and Cheese: I'll repeat myself. I could've eaten the whole thing myself, so it was a shame that we were sharing. As a whole, I'm very glad I gave them a shot before I would never be able to again. That's the hardest part about Texas barbecue. The best places and the historic spots can drop in a moment's notice when hardships hit or the meat prices skyrocket. Sadly, I can tell that they're already at the end of their rope with certain menu options like the loaded nachos and baked potatoes, which always seem like the sign of the end. And with how the food was simply just decent overall, it's hard to justify the rising prices. I see reviews all over saying their quality has fallen off year after year following JMFB's passing, and it makes sense: he was the heart and the soul of the business. When that vaporizes overnight, it's only a matter of time. I don't wish for the downfall of any spot, but I understand that it's bound to happen to certain ones. RIYL: Paying respects to one of the greats in Texas BBQ
