I took a chance on this chain restaurant on the pier, and I'm glad I did because it happened to be happy hour from 3pm-9pm, and the appetizers were very reasonable along with drink specials. The happy hour appetizers were surprisingly delicious for the price also the chips & salsa were complimentary. El Torito didn't disappoint this time around with a great happy hour and a beautiful view of the beach as the sun went down over the ocean. This experience could have been way better. Briana who is the face of the restaurant when you walked through the door has a very bad attitude. I thought I was just me but I seen her seat a couple next to us and she had the same nasty attitude when they asked to be seated at a booth. I made reservations which she didn't take into consideration because I reserved as we were parking so I have to wait as if I don't have a reservation. I haven't been here in a while. But I decided to give it another go since I was in the area. The ambience is friendly and very family oriented. They play light Mexican music and they have some Football games at the bar up front. Our server was Ana and she was amazing. She is very kind and lovely I liked her. She was attentive and communicated well. She speaks Spanish as well. Now for the food we ordered Fajitas with Chicken and Asada. Which was enough to fill one person but the quality in the meat was pretty weak. But I guess you get what you pay for. Lol Anyway the reason we came in was for some margaritas which of course delivered. Tried the Hibiscus and it wasn't as good. Tried the Jalapeño cucumber and that was decent. But the one that took the cake was the one they call "El Dueño" which was what we should have ordered to begin with. Not sure if they have a happy hour. Let me tell you, i havent been to El Torito in probably over 10 or 15 years, maybe more. Ive been to a few locations and this one at least twice and after coming back after all that time away i am damn surprised. Im do suprised im mad about it. So im there for the brunch, I didnt think too much of it but my mission was only to come and have 3 minosas. So i hit the buffet and grab some breakfast items, come back to my seat and mimosa waiting for me, cool. I came to the end of finishing my breakfast and i was brought churro pancakes. I didnt ask for them. Why were they so delicious? My plan was to go have some enchiladas and some other goodies but they pancakes i am assuming to stop me from going back. So i had to force myself to stop eating them 3/4 of the way in so i can go get the other goodies i wanted. So i sit down and Mr. Mimosa comes back and refills my glass. I didnt ask but hey number 2. Then another as i was finishing my meal. 3 and im happy, full and kinda buzzed. Great service, food tasted better than i remember and a good view of the beach. He was our server last year, and we were lucky enough to get him again this year -- and once again, he went above and beyond in every way. From the moment we sat down, Andrew made us feel genuinely welcome. He remembered us, treated us like family, and stayed on top of everything without ever making us feel rushed. His energy is positive, his professionalism is on point, and he has that rare talent of making the whole dining experience feel special. Our drinks were always full, the food came out perfectly timed, and he checked in at all the right moments. You can tell he takes pride in what he does, and it shows in the way he talks to guests, answers questions, and makes sure everything is perfect. The food was very good I had a cheese quesadilla the homemade chicken tortillas soup and the chicken fajita. I did order a root beer and a margarita I got the margarita but not the root beer but that was okay the service was very good and very kind I was seated immediately tho to order took 25 minutes but that's okay. Had their Sunday Brunch Buffet and it was delicious! From the taco station, omelette station, to the desserts! Unlimited Champagne/Mimosa is included in the price. The views are also immaculate all throughout the restaurant. Service was friendly and attentive. The dessert station is on the other side of the main area so it might be easy to miss. read more

When we got the bill, there was a surprise sub charge of $2 dollars. They said this restaurant charges it. They refused to remove it. This location is nice! You have a great view of the beach and it's a pretty big restaurant. When I arrived I was greeted by the manager. I asked for a table and he said it would be 50 minutes. This was for brunch which I was a bit surprised . My husband went online and booked a reservation and we got our table in 10 minutes. Can someone explain this to me?? What is the difference? I had such a great experience at El Torito! From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt lively but comfortable. The chips and salsa came out right away--super fresh and addictive (I may have had too many before my meal!). For my entrée, I ordered fajitas, , and it was cooked perfectly--flavorful, generous portions, and served hot. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. My table also tried the margaritas, and they were spot-on: balanced, refreshing, and not overly sweet. Service was attentive without being pushy, and our server checked in often to make sure we had everything we needed. I called first to find out if the taco Tuesday is ongoing and I was told yes. When I got there, the manager told me it only for dine-in. So I asked is there a way to order the same food and he said no, I have to order what's on the menu for take out. I ordered the taco trio with steak and chicken taco and a side of chicken and carnitas ala carte. The chicken taste like it just got unfrozen and the steak and carnitas was very salty. The beans was VERY SALTY and there's no sauce, it's dry. Why does the food here very salty all of a sudden? We love this place but the service and food taste has gone really bad. read more

Every employee we encountered was super friendly, even when leaving and carrying a togo box, an employee asked if we would like a bag. Those extra attention to details matter. We had a dinner here last Sunday and the service by Hector was great. We were a party of 9 and the staff accommodated us immediately without having a reservation. Food was good as well. Big shout out to Mr. Ricardo. We lost our receipt and needed it to split our bill. We called the restaurant to see if it was possible to get a copy and Mr. Ricardo went above and beyond to get us a copy! A millennial, I grew up going to Redondo Beach and the pier was one of my childhood hangout spots. I feel like the golden days of this El Torito location might be in the past, but it is still a go-to place for my family and friends whenever I'm in town. The view is beautiful (and never changes) and if you come here on a weekday for dinner, you're almost bound to get a beach/window-side booth. Weekends tend to get busy but again, still nowhere near what it used to be 20-ish years ago. Skip the fajitas here--they're bland. But I definitely recommend their enchiladas, whether as part of the pick 2 or 3 combination or a special plate. Their burritos are also tasty. Table salsa and chips are also solid here. My only gripe--and what knocked my star rating down--is that the service here has really slipped over the years. They seem understaffed during the week and it's slow. You might have to ask several times for more salsa/chips/napkins/water/just-about-anything. But service aside, this is still a solid go-to restaurant that I recommend on the Redondo Beach Pier! The ambiance here is perfect for a date, family outing, or grabbing food and drinks with friends. read more

This location is awesome! I've been so bummed that the two locations in Long Beach closed. Growing up, the Sunday brunch was a weekly event. This location really delivered and the view is gorgeous. My wife and I both walked in for some drinks at the bar. We ordered a margarita flight to start. We saw them pouring the drinks and did not see any alcohol involved in the pour. We asked if they were virgin margaritas, and were told they did have alcohol. They tasted like sugar water no alcohol at all, very disappointing. We came in on Saturday around noon. There was a 30 minute estimated wait time so we opted to sit at the bar where there was no wait. The ambiance is my favorite on Redondo Beach pier! The entire restaurant overlooks Redondo Beach and is very airy and spacious. This place is great for both small and large parties. The bartender was friendly and took our drink orders quickly. My favorite drink is the Mojito! We also got the Spicy Margarita flight but I'm not a huge spicy drink person, so I wasn't a huge fan. My acid reflux caused me to burp jalapeño alcohol for a few hours afterwards. My friends did enjoy them though and it's very aesthetically pleasing. The food was satisfying, but compared to other Mexican SoCal food spots - there are better. Definitely come for the ambiance and drinks! read more

I ordered a chili relleno and a cheese enchilada. The chili relleno was very good,I enjoyed the batter and sauce on it. The cheese enchilada was good. The beans were just okay as was the rice. The restaurant has great views of the beach and ocean. The bar area is nice. I did order a margarita. It also was just okay. The waiter was great. He didn't write or order down.
