We typically do the Sunday brunch. The staff is excellent and, with a reservation, there's no wait time, even if they are packed. Food is plentiful. Taco and omelet bars are excellent and they do a good job of updating fresh food on the service line. Price has gone up a bit recently, but that's true everywhere. read more

Managers Joseph and Pablo helped to make it a special experience, as well as Natalie who works at the front, and a new employee, Melissa, who did such a sparkling job cleaning the bathroom that I had to say something to the managers. So first of all let me start by saying that I have lived in the San Fernando Valley forever...over 20 plus years and would come to the El Torito (Sherman Oaks) for karaoke and happy hour here and there. I brought my husband, (who is originally from Detroit) to happy hour a few weeks ago. Our server Adriana was awesome. We also met the manager named Pablo and he immediately made us feel welcomed. My husband was wearing a Detroit baseball cap and he and Pablo started joking about the Tigers and Pablo bragged about the Dodgers...fun sports chatter:-). Pablo talked to us for a while like we were old friends; that left a lasting impression like no other. He told us about the Sunday brunch and that we should check it out. We went today and surprisingly enough, we had the same server - Adriana who was as amazing as before. She was super attentive to everyone in her area, she constantly made sure that everyone had everything they needed at all times. We asked for Pablo and he came to our table and we were all happy to see one another as we hugged like old friends. We caught up and talked about our families and he also made sure we were good. Great customer service is one of the most important things to me when I am supporting any business; it can make or break things for me. Pablo is the most down to earth, kindest manager of any establishment that I have every patronized. He is now a part of our family for life. I love this place, don't get me wrong. I had a wonderful time on Sunday Brunch except for one thing... STAFF?? My wife and I decided to stay for Happy Hour our server was so sweet and helpful. She made a delicious guac! The bar was crowded but she was always smiling and giving the best attitude and service. Unfortunately we witnessed how the manager yelled at her infront of everyone there at the bar. She seemed so embarrassed. At the beginning I thought he was a drunk customer asking for more alcohol but when I asked the bartender who was that old man and told me was the manager Jose I WAS SURPRISED! How can a manager yells at their team instead of helping? (The bartender looked overwhelm as well and he did not ask to help) We stayed like 2 hours and in that time he didn't go to check up on us. The only time we saw him was when he gave our server hard time. Torito has the best food and service, always! I have 3 daughters and if someone treats them like he did to our server I'll be mad! Definitely I'll come back but I hope I don't see that manager. First he needs to learn some manners and how to treat people. read more

I have been going to this El Torito for about 20 years and I have never had a server as good as Kevin. He was attentive and helpful. I have young children and he was very accommodating of their needs. The food and drinks were also good. We went on Taco Tuesday and it was a very good deal. Today I made a mistake!! For my parents and I we ordered el tortito delivery from el torito im sherman oaks,California. We ordered 1 chicken fajitas and 1 tableside gaucamole. It was a disaster!! The meal was missing beans. The gaucomle tasted like cleaning detergant and soap. It also smelled like soap. When i have gotten delivery from el torito in woodland hills,California they never forget the beans amd the gacamole is always fresh!! I called the manager at el torito sherman oaks and he didn't believe my side of the story. The manager at el torito sherman oaks won't refund my credit card either. Absolutely horrible experience attempting to pick up my food here. I am told by the staff to arrive in 30 minutes as it's particularly busy. When I arrive they tell me it's going to be an additional 30 minutes until my food is ready. The manager (Pablo) comes out to tell me with a surprised look as if he has no idea why the receptionist gave me that timeline and does nothing to remedy to the situation. It's not my fault that you have no idea how to run a restaurant and take too many orders over the phone so that your kitchen can't keep up. What a joke. read more
