I love guava and mango flavored anything, and it's rare to find, so I was very much interested in trying this bakery when I found this on Yelp while searching for bakeries to make my baby shower cake last year. We tried several cupcakes and other items. Mango was tasty but light flavor, and we loved the guava and ube. Cupcakes (pound cake consistency) was moist, but chiffon tasted a little dry so we ended up ordering half sheet of guava and ube pound cake. LOVE that we could order 2 flavors! To keep costs down, I asked Ken for a plain sheet cake with blue borders so I could add my own cake topper decorations. Cake turned out wonderful, was enough to feed our ~50 guests (many tried both flavors) plus leftovers, and even guests who had never had guava or ube before loved it. Planning to order more sheet cake for another baby shower and maybe a birthday party. Would definitely order more often if they weren't 30 min drive away from where we live. Loved their guava cupcake and been trying to get a guava cake since then but the times when I'm in the area (I live in Antioch) they are always all out. I was looking to find a different type of cake flavor since my family and I are always ordering the mango mousse cake from lions. I read many of the comments online about the guava cake at Elite Bakery and decided to order it. It is a small bakery with several options of cake. I decided to order an 8 inch guava cake and preordered it the night before I needed it. They were so kind and happily said that it will be ready for pick up the next day. I got so many compliments on my choice, the guava cake was moist and soft and tasted great, everyone loved the icing they used!! We tried a cream cheese roll, cassava cake, + ube and mongo bean hopia. The cream cheese roll was forgettable, same as you could get in safeway. Cassava cake was also disappointing, chalky, too firm, and dry. The selection was a bit limited, not quite as many offerings as Valerio's. The star of the show was the hopia: light, flaky, with just the right amount of filling and not too sweet. Definitely the best hopia among the neighboring bakeries. I love Elite Bakery! They have been making my kid's birthday cakes for years! Everyone always compliment how moist the cake is and that the frosting is not too sweet. I've worked with Grace and Ken on choosing the designs for all the cakes and they have all turned out great. The best one so far was a color changing cake. As you turn the cake, the frosting on top of the cake changes colors. It was pretty awesome! The empanadas are so good. They are a different from Filipino or Puerto Rican empanadas. The outside is a crispy masa dough. The filling is usually grounded toasted rice and chicken. I usually order mine 15-20 min ahead of time. read more

Yes, I'm a fan! Elite's chamorro empanada is deep fried goodness that brings back wonderful memories from back home. I recommend calling ahead so they will have them ready when you come in, you can also order them uncooked so you can fry it at home. Elite also has an assortment of pies and cakes. Our personal favorite is the guava cake. You can custom order your cake or you can pick one out from what they have on hand. We've also had their fruit tarts. I came here with some friends one weekend because my one girlfriend was raving about these pudding/ cake/ custard things. I completely forgot the name, but it looks like a mini cream pie. It tasted pretty good, very light and fluffy... Think dulce de leche.. But not soaking wet lol. We came at the end of the day so there wasn't a lot of items left over.. That shows a lot! But the owner was very nice and despite us being supper full from an earlier meal he gave us a whole bunch of samples.. Still forgot the names but one has Ube which was sorta like a flat bread. Which caught my eye because I love the guava cake from Akis. Anywyas. Their guava cupcake was SOOO GOOOOD! And it had filling. Just so yummy. One star for accepting my order and the second star was for the taste because it was ok. It was on a dry side and the filling was mango but I really I cannot taste it. I paid $325 for the cake and of course my expectations are high. I was disappointed with the designed they did for the warriors golden state logo. I was expecting them to make the logo by themselves by cutting or using the fondant as well but all they did was scanned it on to the fondant. I normally love cupcakes, but these cupcakes were not good - they were not flavorful (inexplicably bland), and the frosting was a weird consistency (rubbery, too thick and solid, and again somehow bland). We tried to eat: Red velvet Mango Chocolate Cookies and cream Guava Strawberry I normally LOVE cookies and cream cupcakes but after a bite I immediately put this one down and it left a bad taste in my mouth for a few minutes. The strawberry one was the only edible one, but it was only mediocre compared to strawberry cupcakes you can get at other bakeries. We took a bite out of the other cupcakes and then had to toss them. Save your money, go to Sprinkles. All this being said, we did not try their other products, which might be very good. The service was good. But the cupcakes aren't worth a try. read more

The latiya dessert is my brother's absolute favorite, but when he asked for a decorated birthday cake made of latiya, I was at a loss. Latiya's texture is more like pudding so a cake seemed impossible. I called Ken at Elite anyway and he offered a few ideas to get me what I needed. They ended up making a layered cake with latiya filling. It was absolutely delicious and still looked like a great "normal" cake. Even my family members that often make latiya themselves were impressed with what Elite was able to do.
