I'm always scouting out for a good burger spot and have had Emmi's on my list for a while. Finally got to try the smashburger here and it was delicious! Their tater tots were cooked to perfection and the staff were beyond welcoming and friendly - we had a great lunch overall and can definitely recommend a visit to Emmi's. We came in for a late lunch on a Saturday (AND Valentine's Day) so we expected it to be packed. The crowds were steady but the staff did a great job of keeping things moving and we really didn't wait long for our food etc. For my drink I couldn't resist their February special - the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Latte (iced). It had a delightful balance of smooth coffee blended with the chocolate and strawberry - I very much enjoyed it but it was insanely sweet - perfect for all those out there with a sweet tooth lol. Hubby ended up with a "golden latte" (hot) - they had "golden milk" on the menu but I asked them to add a double espresso shot to the golden milk concoction of tumeric, ginger and cinnamon and it was excellent! Not too sweet and perfect spice levels. Would get again. For our lunch hubby went with the Southwest Tostada Salad with chicken and I went for the Double Smashburger with mayo instead of burger sauce. Hubby was very happy with his salad and it was presented beautifully. My smashburger was excellent - two quality patties smashed to perfect thinness level with velvety, melty American cheese in between topped with a perfect amount of grilled onions. It had a delectable char flavor and the bread was soft and fluffy - it's a really solid burger overall. Paired with their flawless tater tots it's a great contender in the SGV and I'd get this again. Portions are "just enough" and I appreciated that we were both able to finish our meals without feeling overly stuffed. Prices are a tad high but on par for the area and everything is good quality. Vibes are outdoorsy and fun with hidden bears in their wall art. The owners are the chefs and Sierra Madre natives - they're proud of their roots and are very active in the community. Truly a lovely local business to support! They have free WiFi, a free water station, and a great selection of Emmi's merch, coffees, and items from local artists. Parking is free street parking with several free (timed) lots in the surrounding area. Sierra Madre is an adorable little foothills town and very walkable - a great place to meander and work off your lunch!

Had such a pleasant breakfast here this morning! Ambiance: Super cute cozy cafe vibes, great natural lighting, even a good place to get some work done Service: The cashier was SO kind and had great energy Food: everything was super fresh & delicious! The classic eggs, arugula salad, bacon, toast, potatoes, etc. everything felt not too heavy and seasoned well. It's a good bang for the buck unliked other overpriced brunch spots! The pomegranate iced tea was refreshing and not too sweet as well. Parking might be a bit rough but if you come early enough it's not bad!

Love this place! Been here several times, always great food, clean, comfortable, excellent outdoors when it's nice, counter service very good. I had to loaded breakfast quesadilla with ground sausage. Filled with potatoes, sausage, onions, garlic, I don't remember the rest. The cheeseburger looked outstanding and my niece said it was absolutely delicious. My other niece had a large stack of pancakes and bacon what she loved. We love coming here for the cozy feel of the neighborhood. Obviously, for the great food as well! Highly recommend it

Really busy on a Saturday afternoon with long wait times for food - our order took about 40 minutes to arrive after having been told it would take about 25 minutes. We also didn't love that you order first at the register and then have to look for your own table as it's a bit chaotic and can mean you're left standing for quite a while depending on your luck on what tables are leaving. Pretty much everything is self-service here besides having the food brought out and tables cleaned up. While the food wasn't perfect, it was definitely still tasty and we hope to return to try some of their other menu items. This time around we ordered the Emmi's burger and BLT. The burger was solid with all the hallmarks you'd expect. The patty was perfectly cooked and my bf appreciated the massive pickle they included. The main gripe he had with this burger was there was actually WAY too much sauce to the point where the burger was super soggy and basically falling apart every bite. The BLT was also pretty basic and decent. The bacon was crunchy and delicious, and the bread and lettuce were fine. Again, following the prior trend, there was way too much mayo added which made every bite taste pretty heavy but because the bread was so hard it somewhat helped with softening it. While there was an included pickle here too it wasn't enough to cut through the heavy flavors. Vibes were cute and we found parking in the nearby areas. Would come back to try some of their brunch items!

Emmi's is a quaint little eatery visited by locals. I met my friend for lunch. I had the salad nicoise, which was a hearty portion, crisp green beans, fresh vibrant hard boiled egg with a lemony vinaigrette, and canned tuna (wished it was fresh tuna). My friend had the tostada salad, which she described as tasty.

I came here on a Sunday mid-morning after a hike with a friend. Free street parking was easy to find. You stand in line to order at the counter before finding a table to sit down at. I ordered the Jamaica lemonade and the corned beef hash burrito. Both were great, very filling, and a good portion size. Thankfully, when we arrived, there was plenty of seating, but by the time we finished, the place had filled up. Good solid breakfast spot in this area!

Honestly, we found this place after the gym. It was super cute and in the downtown area of Sierra Madre. We found parking on the side street and walked over. You order first and then get a table. We ordered the unsweetened iced green tea, Dr. Pepper, cranberry orange muffin, chocolate chip cookie, BLT with tater tots, and the chicken club wrap with French fries. The lunch came with a slice of a pickle too. The cranberry orange muffin was dense and not too sweet. The chocolate chip cookie was crispy on the edges and soft in the center. The BLT and chicken club wrap were perfect. It was a great lunch and filled us up for the remainder of the day. I would definitely want to come back for sure and try breakfast and coffee.

Emmi's might be my best brunch spot ever! No insane wait times, no basic plates pretending to be special, just really good food and kind service. It is toddler friendly, very neighborhood coded, and located in Sierra Madre where it feels like a charming little cabin town moment. Everything we tried was delicious and filling, especially the corned beef hash!! My toddler is deeply loyal to the breakfast muffin and tater tots which are both equally amazing for adults too. We went two days in a row and I regret nothing.

After trying Poppy's in Arcadia, it was only natural to try out their breakfast/lunch restaurant in Sierra Madre. In contrast to Poppy's this spot is a full restaurant with plenty of tables inside and outside with servers to deliver your food after ordering at the counter. We just missed the rush this morning so most of their pastries were gone, but knowing how delicious they are at Poppy's I can understand why. Today we tried out a breakfast sandwich with bacon, a side of crispy potatoes and a breakfast burrito along with a Pom Iced Tea. The food was good, and service friendly as well. It wasn't particularly unique or flavorful compared to other breakfasts we've had anywhere else but it was nice and it seems to be popular in the area. The decor is industrial and slightly eclectic, clean, and running smoothly with the amount of staff on hand. In comparison between the two: we LOVE Poppy's in Arcadia, but we like Emmi's too. Their baked goods are the star, drinks are excellent, and the two share an avocado toast dish which is to die for.

Pretty solid breakfast/brunch spot for the area! It gets busy but ample seating inside and outside. I enjoyed the salmon toast which came with a tasty salad mix. Good ratio of salmon to savory yogurt beneath it and bread was just right from a texture standpoint, not too hard and chewy. Solid coffee and tea options too. I'm a fan! Relatively quick even with all the customers.

Fantastic brunch place that is packed on weekends. Their menu offers both brunch and lunch options, and you order at the counter and they bring the food out to your table. Large interior with some outdoor seats as well. The food is great and full of flavor. The staff are very friendly. They have self serve water and utensils.

A great place for locals, bicyclists, etc but terrible food. I ordered avocado toast, scrambled eggs and coffee. All...just...terrible. The avocado toast is one piece of under toasted sourdough with something called "avocado mash". I should have known better because this is code for "green spread that tastes nothing like avocado and still costs me $15". Scrambled eggs are very white and taste leads to believe they are diluted with water to save costs. Coffee? An americano that managed to be watery despite being a small. I'll try this place once more..maybe. read more

Oooh our new favorite for brunch- this place has delicious eats and a lovely ambiance. I actually think they need a larger space! Price is a bit high but boy that's the best pancake I've had in a long time. Staff is friendly and efficient, makes you feel valued as a customer. You order at the counter and your food is brought to you at your table. They have a couple tiny tables outside, but most of the seating is indoors. It's in the darling neighborhood of Sierra Madre, super nice area near Pasadena. Same owners as PoppyCake. They know what they are doing and have a good menu. read more

I'm pretty particular with my breakfast burritos and I just found my new favorite spot. They have two size options: 1. Grab n go- $9 and the perfect size for one person. Basic meat, eggs, and cheese wrapped in a tortilla 2. Regular burrito- $15 and easily shared between 2ppl. Includes everything from the grab n go plus avocado spread, pico de gallo, and tater tots. This is twice the size of what I used to drive to Pasadena for at the SAME PRICE Both come with salsa verde and sour cream. Yum read more

Cute shop, friendly service, great sandwiches. I enjoyed my braised brisket hot sandwich and my husband enjoyed his hot chicken club wrap. Both were juicy and tender, super delicious. We also liked their peach sweet tea. We will definitely return and try some other items on their menu. read more

i got the breakfast plate which is $18 for two pancakes, two eggs, and sausage or bacon. the sausage was really good! the pancakes seemed like they would be really yummy, but they were pretty overdone so the burnt flavor kind of took over. kind of disappointing as they seemed really good. another time i got the salmon toast and that was pretty good but also wildly expensive. overall emmis was just okay for the price point. if a small meal is going to be upwards of $20 after tax, it should be really good. read more

Everything I've had here has been amazing. The staff is great, the baked food, the drinks, the breakfast burritos, the salads - I'm yet to find anything that hasn't exceeded expectations. This place opened after a beloved local coffee shop closed in the same location and I feel like Emmi's has not only filled that void, but exceeded it. It somehow feels simultaneously brand new but also like it's been here forever. Massive props to the owners and staff! read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR YOUNG CHILDREN TO EMMI'S. They say they're family-friendly but that's laughably untrue from my own experiences. I used to enjoy going to Emmi's, I recommended Emmi's to multiple friends. But after two separate instances of my children being shamed and even harassed for being children, I will never go back. The first time this happened, I brought my then 4-year-old and a few of his soccer teammates to eat a celebratory lunch at Emmi's on a Saturday after a game. As children are sometimes, they were excited, loud, and two of them were playing hide and seek around our table. With no warnings in advance, one of the Emmi staff asked if we could leave because we were bothering the other guests. We didn't put up a fight, we left. This was the first incident. I was willing to write this off as a "I should probably not bring a large group of kids to Emmi's, okay, noted." Today, on Good Friday, I stopped by Emmi's for a bite to eat with my 3-year-old and 5-year-old before our church event nearby. While I was trying to place our food order, my 3-year-old dropped something she was playing with under the table and was crying inconsolably for a few minutes, as 3-year-olds do (if you have a small child, or have ever been around small children, I'm sure this is not news to you). As I was rushing to comfort her, a man shouted at her to be quiet from across the restaurant, loudly enough for the entire place to go silent. This was aggressive and uncalled for behavior from a grown man. My child was crying, she is 3 years old, what could his excuse be? At the time, I was alone with my two small children and chose not to confront this stranger who had just shouted at my child from across the entire restaurant. I didn't know him or whether or not he was threatening. I chose instead to comfort my children. A staff member came to me to apologize for the man's behavior, but they did not kick him out, he faced no repercussions for his aggression. Instead, the staff said they spoke with him and actually had the nerve to reiterate to me that he had "meant it to be funny." ........................... At that point, I myself was on the verge of tears. I watched that grown man child calmly finish his entire meal and conversation at Emmi's after he had publicly berated my 3-year-old in public with zero consequence. I wonder what type of privilege he deems himself worthy of. Meanwhile, as a reminder, we had been asked to leave last time for simply having loud children. And this time, it was clear that nobody at the restaurant would stand up for us either. Ultimately, I got a gift card "for your next coffee, on us." ........... So all you have to do for a free cup of coffee at Emmi's is subject yourself and your child to public harassment, humiliation, and trauma. read more

Needed a spot to work from for a bit and was headed elsewhere but saw Emmi's and then saw on their menu that they offer vegan breakfast burritos! What an awesome surprise! I went in an ordered one, plus coffee. Price was great, and the staff are super friendly. I loved the burrito, the salsa that accompanies it is delish. I would add a little more spice next time. Wifi works well. I can't wait to go back. I noticed they also have tots which I decided to order next time. read more

We stumbled on Emmi's by accident after a nearby restaurant told us their wait time. It was the BEST little find. I ordered a lettuce-wrapped Emmi's burger with a side of tater tots. The burger was so juicy, savory, and tasted fresh. Great quality burger for a reasonable price. The taters were nice and crispy as well. The staff was friendly and there was no wait time. Lastly, they have a quirky but charming ambience. They have seating both inside and outside. read more

Emmi's makes the best patty melts!! They use a beautiful highly-seeded rye bread and perfectly grilled onions to frame their delicious ground beef and melted cheese. I'd like to go back and try some of their coffees or baked goods. The menu looks interesting. Staff is extremely friendly from the moment you walk in. The restaurant itself is very minimalistic, but clean. It's a delightful spot to stop for coffee or a delicious meal. read more

I gave Emmi's another try yesterday because my previous visits left me not feeling love for the place. However, yesterday was completely different. I had the breakfast plate, which came with bacon, eggs, potatoes, Arugula, avocado, and toast, all for $16.00. I was stuffed. During my previous visits, I felt that while the quality/taste of the food was great, the portions were way too small. The restaurant was busy and the service was acceptable. This is a new coffee shop and I have been there with friends for coffee/meals several times. The coffee, pastries, croissants and oatmeal we had were fresh and tasty, especially the almond croissants. They also had good sandwiches. The staff was very pleasant and we will definitely be back. read more

This place has some classic menus items like burgers and salads and sandwiches. Nothing really stood out in the menu. Family of four with no drinks and we spent $85 on lunch. Feels too expensive for what you get. I got the chicken cutlet sandwich. It comes with roasted red peppers, cheese, marinara and some arugula. The cutlet felt over fried but that be because there are two thin cutlets instead of one larger one. I end up with more crust than chicken and the sandwich eats greasier than I would like. read more

Was a really nice cafe, idk if it's the area or the cafe but every time someone entered everyone knows each mother and is friendly, honestly enjoy that. I believe I got the Vanilla Maple Latte, was really good. To eat I got the Egg Sandwich, which was very delicious, plus I added the side of potatoes, they were crispy but, lacked seasoning. There's lots of seating and the if you're struggling to find what to eat, they will give you recommendations. read more

Ordered a junior breakfast burrito for $9, a breakfast sandwich for $9.50 and a cafe au lait for $4.50. Coffee and burrito were good the sandwich was very salty. The ambience here is great with friendly service. The place opens at 8 am which is a little strange for a breakfast lunch only place. read more

A lovely addition to Sierra Madre's offerings. I had a fantastic mug of coffee and the avocado toast with salmon and a chocolate almond croissant. The staff are super friendly and didn't mind while I worked on the super fast WiFi. The space is bright and airy and welcoming, they've done a lot to make it feel fresh and new. First time eating here but the Yelp reviews were all positive so we gave it a try. Food was delicious and plentiful. We were very impressed with the cheeseburger, tots and cheeseburger salad. Over the years, I've been incredibly honored, blessed and humbled to experience coffee in deeper way than most, locally having the experienced Thee Coffee GOATs/Royalty & LA Coffee Pioneers (Glanville & Babinski and the OG crew that includes but not limited to Jaymie Lao, Percy Ramirez, Brent Glanville, M'lissa, Sumi Ali, etc...and including so many more like Mike Phillips, Tyler Wells, Yeekai Lim, Leon Li, Frank La...I can go on and on), to which I am eternally grateful. Regrettably over the last 10 or so years, it has been my perception that much of the specialty coffee industry has: 1) capitulated to the taste buds of the casual coffee drinker (or the masses) and have abandoned their desire to change hearts and minds with education about a new wave of coffee drinking experience; 2) are shops owned and operated by people who are non coffee professionals (you know who you are!) and lack pedigree & experience. I get it. It's tiring and frustrating trying to help customers understand that what they are drinking is not "weak" coffee just because they "can't taste coffee." The masses & self-proclaimed coffee enthusiasts want "strong/bold" coffee but they themselves don't even understand what that means! Youngsters want to drink their iced lattes all the while pretending to be grown ups and/or be part of some trendy shop. they take 100s of pictures of the same latte and finally post one to their intriguing Instagram story. Why? Because trendy, duh! Thank God for Sherry Gao and the undeniably talented team at Mandarin & Mandarin 2. THESE KIDS ARE BONAFIDE COFFEE PROFESSIONALS!!!! They have phenomenal coffee pedigree! If you are familiar with my senseless ramblings, or so-called "reviews", you will notice that this one lacks my customary per item ratings and elaboration. This is intentional. Considering the subject matter of coffee, I simply cannot and will not write about "how good this latte is", etc. With all due respect, I drink spro, and almost always only spros at shops that actually know what they are doing (with an occasional deviation of a spro & some milk or something else interesting to my palate at the moment). I got the seasonal coconut latte and I liked the espresso it was smooth and creamy. My mother got their latte with the milk tea and I personally liked it but she wasn't very happy with it. The baristas weren't accommodating about substitutions or offering to make a new drink. Each business has a right to run it the way they want but be warned that you kind of have to commit to trying something you may not like. This place gives an either you like our drinks or just don't come back type of vibe. They don't really seem to care about appeasing you. Do with that information what you will.

The person working offered a complimentary sea salt chocolate chip cookie that was delicious. Drinks were meh but the service was good. The interior is really cute with the various plants, merchandise, and seating areas great for photo ops. Another plus is that there's a private parking lot designated for customers but it's very small and easy to miss. Go out and support small businesses! I usually am not a fan of Hefenweizens but this was very refreshing and not too heavy for me so we kept the beers and we sat outside enjoying the weather. I really loved the vibe of this bar and I wish I lived closer so that I could come here more often. Now that I know about this little gem, if I'm ever in the area I will definitely stop by again!
