The food is really good but our service was terrible! Our waiter was overwhelmed and definitely needs to be retrained unfortunately because our dining experience with him was just chaos. Our visit started out great! Love the outdoor seating and the ambiance of the place. We arrived at 4:15pm so we got to appreciate the happy hour of delicious dumplings and pork buns. Our waiter brought us out extra dumplings and pork buns which was very nice of him. He did forget our pork dumplings but he had given us so much other stuff that we just let it go. We met the owner and he was a very nice man and told us all about the restaurant and his time living in China. Chaos started at dinner hour at 5pm. It started to get busy and I guess our waiter was overwhelmed. Impossible to get his attention to order dinner or get anything really. People were showing up after us and getting served on so we were getting frustrated. And it really wasn't that busy. We finally ordered shortly after 5pm. My husband asked the waiter if the Chow fun was pan fried and the waiter had no idea. He didn't even offer to ask someone to let us know so we didn't order it. We ordered hot and sour soup, chicken fried rice and mao po tofu with white rice. The hot and sour soup arrived 20 mins after ordering which seemed long but we didn't stress about it. The hot and sour soup was very good. We needed extra water after enjoying it and getting water was pretty much impossible too. We tried flagging down someone and it finally arrived much longer then expected. Next came the chicken fried rice which was also great but it was the only thing that came out and it would have been nice to enjoy our main dish with the chicken fried rice. Alas, at 5:50pm, probably 45 minutes after we ordered, our waiter comes up to us with 3 bowls of white rice and tells us he is sorry but the kitchen staff has informed us that there is no more mao po tofu. We were kind of stunned about that and was strange that he would bring us out just rice and nothing else. At that point, we were so annoyed with him and the dinner delay while people who arrived after us were getting their food way before us, we told him we wanted the check. I have no idea if there was indeed no more mao po tofu or what but the way it was represented to us was just not very professional. After all that, we did enjoy our food and you know what, we would come back here! And that is saying A LOT because my husband is Chinese and is super picky about Chinese food. We all loved it and who knows, we might be back when we go up that way but definitely will request not to have that waiter. Yikes! read more

I've been here for dinner, happy hour and lunch. I've had most of the vegetarian items. My favorite items are the fried rice and the green beans. The dim sum is good but it could be better. The flavors are fresh and delicious. I love the sauces they give you a variety. The hot tea is very good. I would say that the service is in need of improvement. All three times we have had our server forget about us. They get overwhelmed and have too much going on. It's a new place so it's growing pains. read more

The quality of the dim sum makes this new spot worth seeking out. Truly handmade dumplings larger and more succulent than any in the North Coast. We found everything in a wrapper and steamed was delicious. I would stick to the dim sum as the rest of the menu we sampled was a bit uneven. The Sui Mai and Har Gow were exceptional. The service needs a lot of work. The staff is friendly but needs a lot of training in the basics of table service. But they make up for it with a bit of banter. It made the whole experience kinda choppy. Regardless, we will be back for the first rate dumplings and will recommend this place to anyone looking for a better quality dim sum without driving to SF. Finally got to try Empress M last weekend and let's just say I was not disappointed. We ordered Siu Mai, shrimp dumplings, bbq pork buns and pea sprout dumplings for dim sum. All the dim sum tasted fresh and legit. To finish our meal we added Chinese broccoli, beef chow fun and Dan Dan noodles. It was a perfect finish to our meal. Dan Dan noodles was bursting with flavor and the noodles itself kept me wanting more. Service was great and even as they got busy we never felt ignored. The owner was stopping by all the tables to greet customers which was a nice touch. Pricing is a bit higher than other dim sum places but it is Napa and I feel it's worth it since I won't have to drive to SF or Sac. read more

We ordered take out. Peking duck tasted ok. No buns were given but we were offered 10 dollars refund. The hainan pork and fried rice tasted good. We will try their dimsum when the restaurant opens for indoor or outdoor dining. I am glad that there is now a dimsum restaurant in Napa. read more

We ordered pot stickers, spring rolls, and steamed pork buns. I can't say enough about the flavor. Very, very good. But we drove home (an 8 minute drive) and the food was cold. I went in and ordered and was there when it was brought out. I almost feel like these items were previously made and under a heat lamp.. My only real complaint is the price.. $40.00 This isn't the financial district in SF.. I fear once the newness wears off people will not go anymore. BEWARE of Happy Hour!!! My husband and I live 2 blocks from the restaurant. We decided to enjoy their happy hour for the first time in awhile. We informed the bartender that we were there for happy hour so he provided us the happy hour menu. After informing him that my husband and I would like a glass of chardonnay, he offered two options with one option being Rombauer. Since we were ordering off the happy hour menu, it was safe to assume that each glass was $9 Once we received the bill, we noticed he charged us $125 for 5 glasses of Rombauer chardonnay when we thought it was $9 a glass. The bartender stated that he made a mistake that it wasn't part of HH and he had to charge us the regular price but gave us 2 glasses for free. Not sure how the 2 glasses made up for his mistake of not properly communicating the price for us since we are still paying $125. If you're a local like us, there are MANY other places with happy hour that have better communication than this restaurant. We will be back to order food for take out since the food is good but we will NEVER be back for their happy hour. Management needs to spend more time in training their staff so the customer does not suffer from this type of experience and lose future business from locals. When the tourists are gone during off peak seasons, local restaurants rely on locals to keep them afloat. read more

The food was pretty good, however, the price you pay for the amount you get is questionable. I definitely think the servers need to be trained better on their verbiage. We heard our server and another server constantly say things like, "how are WE?" "What will WE have?" Big pet peeve. The server isn't involved in OUR dining experience, so they should be including themselves saying, WE. When we first arrived we stood at the podium for a while before getting greeted, but while we were waiting, we did notice an employee enjoying a bite of her meal behind the bar. They were out of a few items, one of which we wanted to order. But were not told they were out of it until we actually were ordering. Not cool! Servers should be telling guests what they're out of upon greeting them. When we ordered steamed pork dumplings then came with 3 sauces. The server did not know what the sauces were and said 2 were soy! Huh? We did not see our server once after our main course arrived. She showed up to clear our plates. The Dan Dan Noodles were fantastic! Get the banana cream pie, it's delicious. The BBQ pork buns were very flavorful and the potstickers were super crispy! The chili oil they give as a side is spicy and perfect to pour on everything. The shui mai and the spring rolls were a no for me. read more

The first day the opened for outside dining we decided to go. You will not be disappointed with their unique spin on traditional Chinese food. This is definitely not an American Chinese take on food. We enjoyed a few of their cocktails. If you like bourbon try the Suan Mei. Along with other entrees, the green beans are amazing with a little kick. I normally don't like to order anything to go from anywhere due to lack of quality but this place has no such thing. I don't trust reviews so I had to try it myself, the Dan Dan noodles are literally Top Ramen with some pork in it and Jalapenos. Very bland, not good at all. If you want authentic good dim sum, don't go here. I was definitely NOT "empressed." From start to end, this was one of the worst dining experiences. When we entered, there was no hostess at the front, and even though some staff saw us, not a single person came to help us to a table. We had to chase down a server just to get us seated. First red flag should have been the fact that they didn't even provide chopsticks, only forks - you'd think that be a given at a restaurant serving Chinese food, but not here. We came around 4pm during their "happy hour," but this was probably the unhappiest of hours we've had. Seemed like 2 servers were confused, one giving us a regular menu, then another person taking back the regular menus and telling us that we could only order from the happy hour menu. Mind you, there was only one other table in the entire restaurant and they were overstaffed, yet service was very slow to attend to our table. We initially ordered what was available on the HH menu - har gow, siu mai, wings, calamari, and fried spring roll. Never in my life have I ever received RAW har gow. The shrimp was literally still gray!! We told the server, and he said they must have understeamed it, but was not apologetic at all. We asked for another order, waited at least 20 min and still received nothing and had to ask again if we could get a replacement. In the middle of this, we got a new server Julia. She apologized for the raw shrimp and then took our order from the regular menu since it was near 5pm when HH ended. We ordered mushroom dumpling, chicken feet, taro puff, and dan dan noodles with what we thought was plant based beef (since my sister is vegetarian). When my sister took a bite of the "fake" meat, she tasted a piece of tendon and knew for sure it was real beef. We asked the server to confirm if it was the plant based meat and she didn't recall, saying she was serving many other tables (though at the time when we ordered, we were still the only occupied table). She said if I asked for it, then most likely it should be the vegetarian option, which did not give us a lot of confidence. She didn't bother to check with the kitchen, but just left us with that response. When we looked at the check at the end of the meal, it was confirmed this was NOT the vegetarian version (other dishes like the mushroom dumpling had (V) label whereas the dan dan noodles did not). Overall, the service was not only extremely terrible but also had a huge lack of accountability. This was the most inauthentic dim sum place I've ever been to, and I'd be skeptical of what they serve you. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!! read more

We visited for lunch today to celebrate our anniversary on our weekend getaway. And we loved every dish we ordered along with the complimentary hot tea! We were also so happy that they had veggie options so my husband enjoyed the snow pea dim sums and the mushroom ones along with the eggplant dish and veggie fried rice. I also enjoyed the shrimp dim sums along with the spicy fish entree and rice. All were flavorful and freshly made! We were so excited to find this place especially with the friendly and hospitable staff who were careful and took precautions. So tempted to visit them soon again for a day getaway. I went for the first time recently and ordered the potstickers and chicken fried rice. $27...uh cool I'm sure it's gonna be great. Potstickers came out to the table approximately 90 seconds after ordering. I'm ~97% sure they were microwaved Trader Joe's Chicken Gyoza Potstickers. Microwaved...poorly. I honestly used to love the Trader Joe's ones so I wouldn't even mind, as long as they had been rewarmed correctly. But alas...room temp and with an aftertaste of plastic. The fried rice came out after what seemed like 30 seconds following the potstickers. Best part was that the server looked me dead in the eyes and cheerfully said "one order of chicken fried rice!" and proceeded to hand me a heaping mound of rice covered in four shrimps. Hilarious. I was starving and I like shrimp too so I was like whatever I'll just eat it. The rice itself was lukewarm and tasteless. The four medium-sized shrimps were all steaming hot. I am guessing there is a large vat of tepid precooked fried rice that gets sprinkled with your topping of choice upon ordering. Very disappointing. Then the server came with the check and it was from the wrong table. It's a shame...the spot isn't bad and I like the patio but I can't justify spending that kind of money on poorly rewarmed food when you could get something much better for much less money in Vallejo, East Bay, etc. read more

Delicious authentic Chinese food in Napa. The outdoor patio is a nice place to eat on a warm evening. We highly enjoy their fried rice, shrimp dumplings, sautéed Chinese broccoli, Chinese eggplant & honey walnut prawns. All the dishes are flavorful, tasty & some spicy. Wish the portion sizes for the dumplings were larger for the prices! This place is not cheap but the quality is good. They do have a excellent happy hour menu for very early dinning. read more

This place is in Napa. Stayed one night in Napa unexpectedly due to driving conditions on our way to Lake Tahoe. Found this place, close to our hotel and found it very pleasant and the food was very good. Will go back there if in the area. read more
