One of my favorite spots in the city for a casual sushi fix. They don't sell traditional sushi but the fish is always fresh and the preparations flavorful. Sushi tacos always hit the spot without being too heavy. The "shell" is nice and crispy with a good amount of fish. The fire tuna is probably my favorite followed by the savory. Probably one of the best poke bowls. Lots of topping that all good well with each other along with a good amount of fish. Definitely go for the purple/black rice! We were staying in an AirBnB in the area and were overwhelmed with the number of highly reviewed restaurants within walking distance. My wife suggested this gem and off we went. The interior is bright, clean, and well designed. It's definitely in the fast casual zone with counter orders that are then brought to you and your table. The prices are reasonable, ranging from $6 - $8 for smaller items up to $18.50 for the most expensive bowl. Everything represents excellent value. The bowls are substantial and all the ingredients are fresh and high quality. I had the Fire and Crunchy bowl with perfectly prepared tempura shrimp and a spicy tuna that had a bit more kick than your average, fine by me. I chose the black rice option, essentially the purple rice you know from Thai food. This is a fusion restaurant with a bit of Japanese, Korean and so on. My wife had the savory bowl with tuna and salmon. Both bowls were superb. The constant stream of takeout orders for a Wednesday night was further confirmation of the stellar reputation of this place. Service was fast and friendly. The look of the restaurant lead me to think it might be a chain but that's not the case. So please check it out when in this part of Chicago. The bowls are on the larger side & this is the first time I've ever felt "satisfied" with the potion of food from a poké place but the actual portion of poke in minuscule compared to the other ingredients that are chock full inside the bows. Hate to write this because this place seems to get overwhelming support based on their reviews, but the burritos we ordered from here were just not it. I was expecting a little more more of flavor or a kick or something, but it just didn't deliver. My friend also said the same. The lady who took my order told everyone in line that it would be about 20-25 minutes to be able to sit down and dine if if we wanted to because they were full. That wasn't the case at all, as after the people in front of us placed their order, and then we did, one of the booths become available. It just seemed weird that they were quoting seating times based on a small amount of people who decided to dine in? Once we received our food, I asked if we could actually dine-in, and the guy who handed me the food was like "this is for to-go". I told them I understood, but a table had opened up and that's the whole reason why we came here. We took public transit to get to this area of the city, and weren't planning on taking it home, so as much as I felt bad that we had them put our meals in a paper bag, I still chose to sit inside and eat here cause we were starving and felt mis-quoted with the wait time for a table. The lady was chill about it and also gave me some napkins so it was all good. Hopefully someday soon they have more indoor dining seating available. We each got a different burrito, they came out in under 10 minutes, and they were very tasty. The portions are huge so truly, one can be shared. The water containers are visible and kept full. I want to highlight the chopsticks not being sealed. I'm not a germaphobe by any means but I don't think this is very sanitary.
