Combo 2, extra fried fish, fried zucchini
    Sharon G.

I have been craving fish and chips so I was excited to finally try this spot when I got out of work early since they're only open on weekdays. The owners are super friendly and make the food fresh to order. My friend and I shared the combo two and added an extra fish. We each got a piece of fish, the giant shrimp, shared some chips, and got an order of the zucchini! Everything was yummy but I'm not sure if I'm not used to the flavors but I feel like it could've used more salt. It seems like they don't salt the food immediately after coming out of the fryer. Still glad I tried it tho!! This spot is CASH ONLY and the parking lot is quite small and busy.

Some places are sometime so unassuming of how well things will be. I've been scoping this place out but I have to plan it out when I will be in Long Beach City and to make sure I have cash. Cash only places are also interesting as to why the business can't get with the times of being cashless, but I get it and understand that for a small mom and pop business it can be expensive for them to pay the fees, credit companies charge. Our arrival was perfect. No one there except one diner who was finishing up. So I placed my order and still tables available out of the four tables they have in their tiny dining area. Our order came out so fast that when I returned from 7-eleven since they did not have coke products, the food was on the table and my wife had the owner wipe our table down. The food was on point. Very crispy, not too oily, but piping hot and fresh. The fish was a thick cod perfectly fried to a crunchy golden crisp. Our oysters, mushrooms and fries were also really crispy and great seafood flavor. Like I said, our timing was perfect because the door was opening and closing quite frequently with so many people ordering or picking up phone orders. Very surprised with how popular England Fish & Chips was and also how reasonable their pricing is. For the next time, I know not to order combos or the meal because I had a ton of fries. I probably could have just ordered the fish Ala carte.

The OG fish & chips spot! Little hole in the wall! Crazy to think I've been coming here since I was a kid & now it's blowing up on TikTok!! Love to see them getting the recognition they deserve! The food is so affordable for the quality you get. I love how simple the menu is. Just good food done right. I always go for the fish & chips (of course) + their breaded shrimp, both never miss. And their homemade tartar sauce?! I could literally buy a whole container!! Staff is always super friendly and treat you like family, which makes the experience even better. A true local gem that I'll keep coming back to

WOW!!! my food came out piping hot and fresh. i got the deluxe combo which came with 1 fish, 1 jumbo shrimp, 5 scallops, and fries so i could try a little bit of everything! it came out to around $15.50 which was worth it for the amount of food. the fish and shrimp is amazing! fish is a generous portion even with just 1 piece and the jumbo shrimp definitely lives up to its name. they give you tarter sauce and some kind of tomato/marinara with your combo but no lemons/vinegar. i would probably skip the scallop and fries next time as i was not a huge fan. the fries are just okay they're kind of like mcdonald's skinny fries. the older man working up front had a smile on his face the whole time taking orders! very friendly guy! there was only about 4 tables inside pretty small space

Super nice lady who helped me with my first order here. I got the combo with fish and jumbo shrimp and instead of chips I got the zucchini sticks. The shrimp are so huge and the fish is really big too. I got 6 nice zucchini sticks that were super. Everything was very fresh and tasty. The store is clean and doesn't even smell like anything is being fried there. Overall first impression was excellent. I'm definitely returning with more

Hole in the wall fish n chips spot in Long Beach worth checking out! I got the deluxe combo which came with fried fish, shrimp, scallops, and fries and it was tasty! The seafood was all good and the batter was crispy. The fish was thick and juicy. I liked how the shrimp was formed into a ring, super unique. The scallops were moist despite being fried. The chips were just regular American fries, not the thick British chips. These all paired well with the creamy tartar sauce, tangy cocktail sauce, Heinz, vinegar, and ketchup. All of this for $13 is such as steal!! I also got the orange bang drink and it was pretty good. I liked how it was creamy. It paired well with all the hot fried food. This spot is CASH ONLY, so plan in advance. The interior is small, with limited tables and seats to eat at. The parking is also limited, so street parking is another option. I visited this spot around 4pm on a Friday, and it was already pretty busy. Would reccomend this spot!

I came here with my son and got dinner for my family. I wanted to try everything so I got the deluxe combo. It comes with shrimp, fish, scallops, and fries. The food was nice and crispy. The cashier was super nice and gave us a lot of tartar sauce and malt vinegar.

They don't open on the weekends which I made the exception of stopping by here on a weekday after work although I typically don't have dinner. This place is TOP notch as food is made to order! Service and friendliness is definitely warm and welcoming. The other patrons who were seated before me walked to the counter and gave praise to the owner just after consuming their fish. The pieces of fish are huge and the onion rings were fried to perfection! I can see why the community adores this gem spot!

Combo Fried fish and Jumbo Shrimp! with all of the sauces and a Pepsi!

Food is really good . We ordered 2 pieces of fish and 2 jumbo shrimp with fries. The person that took our order was very polite.. I really liked the service. It is small inside but we decided to eat in. We were given all the sauces with our meal. I will definitely go back. The size of the fish and jumbo shrimp was well worth the price! Totally satisfied!

Be advised: This is a cash only eatery. I have known about England Fish & Chips for a while. I did not see this as a destination in of itself. But I figured that if I was ever in the area, if I was in the mood for fish & chips, I would give it a try. Today was the day. On this occasion, I ordered the 2-piece fried fish w/fries for $9.99. This is a very good value. In some dine-in restaurants, I could be charged twice as much to get the same portion of fish that I got here. And the quality of the fish and preparation is very good. Food is made to order, so everything is served piping hot. The protein/carb ratio is also good. The fish is not excessively battered to disguise the size of the fish within. The business is in a small strip mall at the intersection of W Willow St (x) Pacific Ave. The parking lot seems small; but the spaces turn over quickly. The on-site seating is really limited. But I did notice, during my time there, almost all of the orders were "to-go". It is a small business; and the family that operates it seems nice.

Deluxe combo (fish, shrimp, scallops) + 3 fish & chips

We were a bit too hopeful when trying this place out. The food is not bad, but it isn't extravagant either. It's an average fish and chips place and is great for a local eatery! The service was quick and we were able to swing by 7-eleven to get some snacks as well while we waited. The shop itself is small, but the Asian couple who run it are welcoming and kind. Be aware that it is cash only! We also got an orange bang which was a bit too diluted for our liking. Overall, just an average fish and chips place but it's nice for something cheap and local.

    Combo plate, zucchini, and pineapple
    Jenny Y.

I came at 6:00pm an hour before their closing time and there was already a line and people eating in the parking lot. Keep in mind that this is a local mom & pop shop that don't have much parking space and seats inside the restaurant. I was craving something greasy and filling! The food came out within 10 mins and it was fresh and crunchy! I got the combo with two huge shrimp and one fish. Also got some fried zucchini & fried pineapple. Total cost was around $22. Definitely was worth the bang for your buck and i even shared with my mom and sister!

    2-piece combo.
    Lawrence K.

Very satisfying fish & chips, just like I've had in NZ. Fish cuts are extremely large. Was very hot, with steam coming out! They provide good selection of condiments--points for service because they give it to you with your order instead of you having to walk to a condiment stand. Was going to give 5 stars, but subtracting a point because the "chips" are not authentic--American style thin fries, and not the traditional steak wedges.

Parking is a bit of a game of chance thanks to the tiny lot, so plan accordingly. Once you're inside though, the restaurant is super clean, modern, and the service is fast and attentive. We started with the papaya salad. It was just okay--I'm still trying to figure out why there was a blanket of romaine lettuce casually lounging on top. I ordered medium spice, which turned out to be "medium if you breathe fire for fun." The papaya was also a little more raw than I personally like. The tom kha soup was decent, but the real MVP was the drunken noodles with beef. Those noodles were absolutely swimming in savory goodness and perfectly soft. I would've happily ordered a second plate and called it "dessert." Overall, I'd definitely come back--mostly because those drunken noodles are already living rent-free in my head.

My family and I were heading to the Aquarium of the Pacific and wanted to find a good dinner spot…read morenearby afterward. I came across this place on TikTok because of their famous Thai tea popsicle, so naturally I had high hopes. First off, we got incredibly lucky with parking. I can definitely see how parking could be a nightmare since the lot is tiny, so consider finding a spot part of the dining experience. When we arrived, the inside was cute and seemed clean. We were seated outside, which also looked nice at first glance, but I noticed quite a few spider webs around the windows. My boyfriend even felt webs brushing against his arm while we were sitting there, which wasn't exactly the extra ambiance we were expecting. We ordered quite a bit: spicy Pad Thai, Bang Bang Shrimp, Pad See Ew, mango sticky rice, and of course the Thai tea with the popsicle. I'll give credit where it's due. The Bang Bang Shrimp was easily the best thing we ordered and was absolutely delicious. The Thai tea popsicle also lived up to the TikTok hype, although the actual Thai tea itself was on the sweeter side. If you love sugar, you'll probably enjoy it. My biggest complaint with the food was the spicy Pad Thai. The flavor was great, but it came with what felt like a whole chicken farm and a cameo appearance from the noodles. I ordered Pad Thai, not chicken with noodle garnish. The Pad See Ew was also noticeably salty. Now you're probably wondering why I'm giving this place a low rating if most of the food was decent. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the meal. When it was time to pay, my aunt was figuring out how much everyone needed to Zelle her since the restaurant only allows a maximum of two cards for split payments. While we were trying to do the math, our waiter stood over us watching the payment screen like he was supervising a final exam. He was clearly waiting to make sure a tip was entered. My aunt politely asked him to give us a minute, and thankfully he walked away. Maybe when you see a family actively calculating a bill, that's your cue to...actually give them a minute. Keep in mind we also tipped 20% despite all this. Throughout the meal, he did stop by our table, but it rarely felt like he was checking in to make sure everything was okay. If anything I felt rushed. He also gave off that "customer service smile" that disappears the moment you stop looking. The cherry on top for me happened as we were leaving. We had been sitting on the outdoor patio talking for a bit after paying, which is pretty normal for my family. Before leaving, I went inside to ask where the restroom was. The guy and girl behind the bar looked at each other, laughed, and then asked if I was a paying customer. Keep in mind, I was literally holding a to-go bag with leftovers from the restaurant. I responded, "Yeah, I just finished eating," while holding up the bag that made it painfully obvious. Only then did they tell me where the restroom was. Nothing says "valued customer" quite like being interrogated about whether you actually ate there while carrying your leftovers. It's unfortunate because the food had some highlights, and the restaurant itself has a cute atmosphere. But the service made it feel like customers are viewed more as transactions than guests. Between hovering over us during payment and questioning whether I even belonged there after spending money, I left feeling more unwelcomed than satisfied. I'll happily support a restaurant that appreciates my business instead of making me feel like I have to prove I earned the right to use the restroom after paying for dinner.

The Stinkin' Special was a generous blasts of Old Bay and enough garlic to ward off vampires. The Mad Dog sauce wasn't shock-your-soul spicy, but it definitely lingered. It is a fish market and the lines are long but it goes fast…read more We ordered the fish, scallop and shrimp plate with fries. All of this was fried and the fish is red snapper. Also the Mahi Mahi and grilled shrimp plate with rice. Absolutely delicious. And the dungeness crab. Yum! Also if you want a hammer for the crab, it's a $2 deposit. They refund you after you return it. Obviously had to get the clam chowder in a bread bowl. Absolutely worth it. All of this cost $130. Mostly cuz of the crab at 29.99/lb. Bread bowls were $16 (we ordered 2) And the plates were less than $25 each. Plenty of seating around.

Went on Sunday for a quick brunch. Ordered grilled halibut plate, wife ordered fish and scallops, topped it off with a clam chowder and two sodas. Total came out to be around 65$. Fish was just grilled with a ton of oil on the same griddle as everything else, seasoning consists of old bay and that is it. Bland, old bay seasoning. Fish and chip was bland, no flavor. Clam chowder had minimal clams and mainly thick soup base. So unless you think those YouTubers are coming there to say nice things, edit the video, and then post it so they can make content money. Don't waste your time and money.

I came here for a Happy Hour on Friday. The happy hour is from 4pm-6pm and we got there around…read more4.45pm. Well it was enough of time to order all the good stuff from the menu. This was my first time to Liv's. I know. Shocking. I've heard good things about this place especially about the oysters, but I guess I just never made the move. Well let me tell you I'm going to keep coming back for those delicious and fresh raw oysters!! Don't look back! This place is so unassuming. Very chill, not too big, and fairly easy to get a table (at least when I visited on HH). Service was good too, no complaints - although closer to the end of the HH, it got a little slower since more people started coming. We ordered 2 dozens of oysters (10/10, will do again). It was $19 per half a dozen, for happy hour. I think on Mondays they have even cheaper price for the oysters, which I'll do next. We also ordered mini wedge (good), lobster rolls (pretty good, but the lobster was slightly dry IMO), crudo, chowder (good taste but it's runny. Wonder if it's their style of chowder or just that one time), fried calamari (good but nothing special), fried oyster caesar (good salad, maybe next time I don't get the fried oyster), hot fish sliders (good). Oh we also got the cocktails, and I really like the margarita. If you've never been to their happy hour, it's a great chance to try on their different dishes and find what you really like. For me, the raw oysters were great and I'm definitely coming back mainly for that!

I attended a special Winemaker Dinner at Liv's this week. Recipes and wine pairings were arranged…read morewith Liv's Chef, Rob White and Sherman Thacher, of the Paso Robles Winery that bears his name. It was a sell-out crowd, that came to explore this special collaboration. We started with a Garlic Bread, baked at local Hey Brother Bakery, served with an olive oil dipping sauce. Followed by Dressed Raw Oysters served with a refreshing cold Chenin Blanc. The next course was Baja Bluefin Tuna Crudo served with the Cinsault. The third course was the Baked Clams with Chorizo Stuffing. This delightful dish was served with the Nouveau Wine, which was my highlight of the event. The clams were dressed with, what the Chef called Sea Asparagus- wow! Loved it!! The next course was the Crab-Stuffed Fig Leaves. The wine pairing for this was a Muscat Canelli. This is a light wine, that was surprisingly delicious and not sweet, as so many Muscats are. The dessert course was Nectarines and Cream. This is an amazing dish! The cream was perfectly delicious with broken up pieces of meringue...it melted in your mouth. This was served with a surprising Apple Cider, to finish the feast. It was a very fun, delicious and informative meal. I would encourage you to watch their website for future special events.
