i wanted to rlly like this place! i got the jumbo shrimp, egg roll, and fish a la carte + fried zucchini. the total came to $15.50 (cash only!) and EASILY feeds two. i only waited 10 minutes for my food to come out when i came right when they opened (11am), which is the exact wait time the cashier told me the batter for all the food is a little fluffy and cakey yet not seasoned. i felt bored of tasting the placid flavors of the meat or zucchini when i just wanted to taste the fried food without relying on the tartar sauce or cocktail sauce (which really do some heavy lifting). i wish i brought a friend to help me finish bc i feel like this is a joint best enjoyed with MANY others (: i'll still tell everyone to come by to try cheap, plentiful eats and to support a microbusiness run by a husband and wife! read more

The husband and wife that have owned and run it for ages, are some of the nicest people. This is one of the few places I do recommend. They only take cash. Service is fast, but everything is fresh. They have family sized servings of most of their menu items and are very reasonably priced. My husband and I always end up splitting an Englishman (3 pcs of huge fish and fries), Shrimp and Onion Rings. Fish always tastes fresh and their tartar sauce is a star in itself. Shrimp can be a hit or miss if i'm being honest but this time around it was a sure hit (perfectly crispy, seasoned well and batter was not thick at all). Their fries are a little meh so i always order a side of onion rings - 100% a better choice! Parking can get packed especially during lunchtime so try to catch them at around 2pm onwards, its a much better experience :) read more

Just basically a tiny storefront at the corner of a 7-Eleven mini-mall in Long Beach, but it was full of people waiting to order and pick up at 5pm. They are cash only! We ordered 10 pieces of fish, cole slaw, fries and onion rings. The fish was fresh & ho; the batter was crispy, but perhaps a tiny bit too thick for my taste. The fish pieces are quite large (9"x1") The cole slaw was pretty good too, creamy and slightly sweet, and certainly fresh. The chips were skinny fries like McDonalds, but unfortunately not very hot (but that could've been the timing for the to-go order) Onion rings were pretty good, a touch oily, but nice crispiness; again a tiny bit cold (but that could be the fault of the to-go timing) The tartar may have been from a commercial tub, didn't wow me. This place is the spot if your looking for fish and chips. Fish is nice and tasty crispy on the outside and flakey inside. I ordered the shrimp special which is 15 Shrimp with chips. And I ordered a piece of fish. They'll hook you up with everything you need for your meal like tarter sauce, cocktail sauce, malt vinegar, ketchup, hot sauce, etc. Great customer service. The one downer is the parking which is tight in this strip mall and the transients hanging out there. One last thing is it's cash only so make sure you hit the automated teller machine. read more

Found this place on Yelp while down in LB Harbor and made the mistake of driving a few miles over to try. Plenty of other fresh fish places closer with harbor views and nicer neighborhood. In the middle of a pandemic, money is about one the dirtiest things you can put your hands on. I find it completely unacceptable that businesses like this one still have cash only policies. Even my vegetable lady at the local farmers market accepts credit. If the reason is the costs associated with card usage, a sur-charge with credit purchases would be reasonable. The prices here are about as affordable as they come. The neighborhood is not a good one and I question if they don't allow credit due to not trusting the local population? If so, that's a prejudice in itself. Many other not good explanations come to mind. I came at opening and the place smelled a little too clean. Strong cleaner smell, but the people were friendly. The fish is pollock. Which is good, but next to Cod is like the Tilapia of the Sea. The prices are dirt cheap so that's explainable. read more

Driving an hour from Irvine to this minimal is an act of love because the husband loves fish and chips. What I'd recommend for a party of two or more: get one combo eg oyster and chips; then add on how many fish pieces your party can consume in one sitting. Unless you have an air fry oven at home, leftover fried fish isn't recommended. Side bar: Personally, I love their coleslaw. So we get multiples to chase down the fish. All for about 9 bucks, which isn't too shabby especially as the fish and shrimp pieces were pretty large.....but the food quality though..... Fish and shrimp had a very bland, unreasonably thick coating (the shrimp especially reminded me of sweet and sour shrimp Chinese take-out before the deep-fried shrimp is tossed into the sweet and sour sauce). Scallop pieces were tasteless. I'm guessing that they expect customers to coat the seafood with huge glops of tartar sauce or something just to give the seafood some flavor. Fries were some of the worst fries I've eaten; imagine unseasoned fries being left out for several hours.....very dry and not even remotely warm. This is definitely a hole in the restaurant type place that gave me good hidden treasure vibes. Staff is friendly and quick to take orders. Orders take quite a while to get out, everything is fried so I'm not sure where the delay is. The Food: The pieces of fish they give you are large, very large. Fish is fresh and delicious. But overall, there is just no seasoning whatsoever. The batter I could make at home if I didn't use any seasoning. Fries are similarly bland. Mine came without any salt whatsoever, over done and not fluffy in the center. Maybe to some people's preference. There was a good amount of fish on the inside and the crispy batter worked really well with the creamy tartar sauce. This place is my go to for fish n chips !! Ive been coming here for years and i love this place , do i love the interior of the place ? Nope , do i love the crappy strip mall in the semi -hoodie neighborhood ? Nope .. do i love the terrible parking situation ? Nope .. do i love the fish n chips and the fried shrimp ? Yupp .... This place serves pollock which is very similar to cod at a great price , fat and i mean fat pieces of battered goodness that will get you full for sure .. now i was born n raised in ireland so i know fish, and this place is serving legit fish with vinegar and great tartar suace .. The one quarrel i have is with the fries , they are skinny and not bad but they get cold quick and i just personally like some thicker cut fries .. The fried shrimp is great also and the two owners are very friendly and have been working their butts off together for years . This place gets busy so best to call in order and parking can be tricky as they share it with 711 and a donut shop .
