09/22/25 we like coming to this location. Service has always been good here. Dining area was clean. We ordered 1/2 sandwich combo. Natural High $6:99 & house salad $5:50. Both were good and made with fresh ingredients. We also had 1 square meal. (New) Gaucho Grinder whole $13:79 a bowl of chili $5:99. The new sandwich just tasted like a Abotts habit. The chili was ok probably won't order that again. I've tried three times and I'm just not there. Maybe it sat too long in the cooker. read more

This place has really gone downhill. The portions have gotten wildly small for how much the price has increased. I've been coming here for years for the Chicken Pesto, but the last several times there's almost no chicken or pesto on the sandwich. The sandwich is always completely smashed and falling all over the box. When I order a pasta salad at its outrageous price, it's always only half filled. I swear the containers get smaller every few years, and I never know which size I'm actually going to get when I order a square meal or a large. The pickles, which used to be the best part, get prepped in paper, seemingly days before, so they're always soggy and taste like the paper. The store is completely empty every time I walk in. Is ruining the pickles by prepping them in paper really a necessary time saver? They also traded in all their fresh desserts for packaged items that taste like plastic, which is super lame. Every single time I come there is new people. I came with a free birthday carrot cake slice but somehow they cant redeem it. I ordered the rio grande sandwich on french roll and asked for no onions and to add sprouts. So they forgot the bacon, avocado, lettuce and sprouts but put onions on it anyways. They pack the meat in the center of the sandwich to make it look like there's a lot of meat but about 1/4 of the sandwich was just bread. Don't get me started on the onions the put in my sammi either, super, super strong as in blow up my palate strong! "I opened my sammi and pulled them out. After that the sammi was pretty darn good. I decided to stop in for lunch on Friday 5/24/24. I arrived at about 11:30 the service was quick, the food was delicious. I do not have a picture because I was enjoying the delicious Chicken Gorgonzola Salad. I am in love with the generous fresh chicken breast, plenty of candied walnuts, craisins, Gorgonzola cheese I'm in heaven. The location is by far one of the best I've been to in all of Northern California. Yes I've been to many for the sandwich Pilgrims Progress has always been a favorite never disappointed. The Good: The Chicken Caesar salad and REO Speedwagon sandwich were both fresh & wonderful. The Bad: I had the butternut squash and my husband had the clam chowder. Both were lukewarm. I mentioned it to the servers. They offered to reheat them for us & said that they just needed to stir the pot more. I asked, "doesn't soup need to be kept at a certain temperature?" They said - No. Now I'm no food inspector but I'm pretty sure that was the wrong answer. The Ugly: The restaurant proudly displays a sign showing they've been in business since 1973. Honestly, the furniture and decor look like they are holdovers from the 1973 grand opening. We walked around the restaurant looking for a table that looked clean. Could not find one. Finally we asked the young lady to clean a table for us. She made a cursory swipe at it & informed us that all the tables were permanently stained. I recently visited Eric's deli in Morgan Hill off of Tennant in the shopping center and I had a phenomenal experience... the food was fresh and ready in a jiffy I was greeted at the door with a warm and inviting greeting it also smelled clean and fresh... Today my husband and I were at this location and we each ordered a sandwich. Both of our sandwiches were made with stale bread and were made poorly. I normally get my sandwiches from the Eriks Deli in Milpitas and their sandwiches are unbelievable! I just assumed I'd receive the same quality in Morgan Hill. Boy was I WRONG! Once we left I called and asked to speak to the manager. The girl who answered the phone is very immature and unprofessional. Giggling and saying there isn't a manager in. When I asked if I could speak to who was in charge, she continued to laugh and then repeated to her co-worker what I had just asked. She then said she wants to know what this is about? I said let me talk to her. When the other girl got on the phone I told her that they need to serve food that is fresh and would either of them pay for and eat food that was not fresh? I also told her that the giggling is unacceptable when I customer calls. The food was delicious and the atmosphere relaxing on a cold evening last night. We walked from Margarita's which was closed for renovations over to Erik's DeliCafe, to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday. It's was a great place for us to catch up on what's going on, since it's spacious and the food was fitting for the weather. We both had the half-sandwich and soup combo. Very sad this place has gone downhill. Strangely, it's usually the food that degrades in a restaurant but, in this instance, it was the service staff with a negative, entitled, and lazy attitude. All I wanted was a sandwich. It started with me making a simple phone call for a Pilgrim's Progress to go, as I was in a rush and decided to call ahead. The young lady who answered the phone was unwelcoming, rude and sarcastic. I ordered the sandwich and was told it'll take 15 minutes. I came in 15 minutes later and the sandwich had not been started. There were no other customers there and the girl who answered the phone was preparing to take out the garbage. She said, 'if your sandwich isn't on one of the two racks, you probably ordered at the wrong store.' I told her what I ordered and she said, "Oh, you called in. I'll make your sandwich in a minute." She then went over to make my sandwich without washing her hands. I conveyed my disappointment and told them I didn't have time to wait which was why I called in my order. As I was exiting, she grinned smuggly and loudly stated, 'Good bye, see you next time, come again.' Now I understand why the average rating is low. I've been to this location dozens of times over the past two years I've lived here. In the past, I've never understood why the reviews are so hit and miss; every time I've had a great experience. Unfortunately, this time I received a 1 star sandwich. Which is really unfortunate considering how I normally tend to view this location. The problem was the care and quality put into making my sandwich. I ordered a Natural High. This sandwich is simply: cheese, sprouts, mushrooms, sunflower seeds, and onions wish "secret goo". The sandwich was missing sprouts but they were out of sprouts, so that's no biggie. At least they made me aware. They must have been low on mushrooms and sunflower seeds, too, because I received no more than 10 slivers of mushrooms between two halves of sandwich. And the seeds? Maybe 10, give or take two. Now if the sandwich is missing one ingredient that's maybe not a huge deal. But to short a guy on the remaining 1/3 if the ingredients? No bueno, Mr Erik. This was the saddest sandwich ever. And the worst part is it was a to-go order. Am I going to go back and complain? Of course not because I'm frikkin starving. For the most part, the people who work at this Erik's are friendly. There definitely are a couple of unfriendly ones, but they mostly hide out in the back (at least they did when I was there). I don't eat meat or dairy, and their vegan offerings are mediocre. I typically order the Farmer's Market sandwich with a cup of Tomato Basil Bisque soup. The soup is good; the sandwich is decent enough, I guess. I like the fact that the drinks are served in mason jars. :) read more

GLUTEN FREE? No problem. Eric's does cater to those with celiac issues. They also take extra care and will make sure to change gloves when preparing your sandwhich to prevent cross contamination to those very sensitive. This location has always been solid for me. The employees here are friendly and even will go out of the way to recall that they've seen you before--even something small, it makes you feel like they care about their customers. On that note, you can expect the staff to make the usual favorites as good as it's suppose to be. If you haven't been to an Erik's before, they serve fresh sandwiches using local high quality products. I mean it's clearly superior in taste and quality in comparison to Togo's or Subway. The price does reflect that, so if you can't taste the difference you should stick to the cheaper stuff. I always get the Raging Bull or Abbott's Habbit. The order was supposed to be ready within 7 minutes we waited an extra 10. They said they were under staffed. The lady infront seemed irritated. My sister ordered the natural high which comes in a pita. When she got the sandwich it was on whole wheat bread. I asked for onions on the side for my parents sea dog sandwich. And they did not even put them on the side they just left them out. I usually have good service from here but this was def not a good experience. If you're going to run out of pita bread you should probably ask the person what type of bread they'd like instead of assuming and just giving them whatever. read more
