They were very busy when we arrived with a party of 6 but we were still seated quickly, got our drinks and orders were delivered fast and hot. We set outside on the patio, tables were clean and spaced so we didn't feel like we were sitting with the table next to us. I am very picky about fish tacos and it's hard to find really good ones so I ordered one but also got a chicken taco as back up. I didn't need it. The fish taco was so good! Best I've had in years. Everyone else enjoyed their meal too but the fish taco was exceptional! Wish I lived closer but I will just have to visit my cousins more often! read more

Family run so hit (if Mama is your server) or miss (any of the kids). The food is standard Mexican fare, sometimes over-salted but much better than than the only other Mexican place in this small town. They accept pets on the front patio which works well for me when I'm traveling with my dogs. And I appreciate the ice cold beer which always makes anything taste better. They do close for a whole month every January but are open on Sundays which is a plus when in Utah. read more

We ordered takeout during COVID times. Despite the statewide mask mandate, the enclosed waiting room was filled with unmasked people, squeezed into a cramped space. It was alarming to walk through that. We were greeted by an unmasked hostess. People at dining tables without food were also unmasked. One side of the room seemed to use socially distant spacing, but the other side had all tables full. It was disturbing to see how cavalier people were about not adhering to the state requirements at the height of the pandemic. That said, the food was packaged well to-go and was delicious. I got the #37 garlic shrimp and mushrooms. The shrimp were large, the mushrooms were huge, and the garlicky sauce was fantastic. My dining partner got the chicken fajitas and those looked great and had a lot of vegetables. The cashier wore a mask and was friendly. I'd recommend this place for takeout, but wear an N-95 mask when you go inside. I'd give the food a 4.5 and the non-mask environment a zero star. read more

Very reasonably priced for being a tourist town. However there are extra charges for small changes or refills. The most surprising of the charges was for more chips and salsa; especially as this comes complementary at most establishments. We were seated immediately and greeted well on our way to the table. The individual who took our order was a bit brash and could be characterized as rude by some individuals; this was a short encounter so nothing too much to worry about. I ordered off the Al A carte to try different options. Ordered chicken enchilada, chile relleno, and shrimp taco. All three items were very good and would be worth getting again. The shrimp taco was my favorite of the three items. The only food complaint I could make is the salsa almost tasted like a mixture of tomato pasta sauce and salsa. After a long day of hiking we just wanted some good food. We believed the yelp reviews and the stars and boy was it a disappointment. The carne asada burrito and chicken fajitas were tasteless. I was so hungry, my 3rd bite I pulled out a long strand of hair! I wanted to throw up. Let me add, we called in our orders and when we walked in, no one was wearing a mask (from customers to employees). Obviously I can't put a zero star. I don't recommend coming here. A solid meal with less than solid service. Escobar's was our first meal upon arriving in Kanab. I won't begin to try and qualify myself as an expert on Mexican food, but I didn't expect to find any this far north of the border. The restaurant itself is small. I'd suggest sitting in a booth along the exterior walls or sitting outside if you want some personal space. We ended up at one of the tables in the middle and had people sitting right next to us during our meal. The place seemed fairly busy on the night we visited and service suffered significantly. The time from seating to ordering was extensive as was the wait for drink refills and the check. Maybe they were short staffed but it seemed like one server was handling the whole place. Enough about the service and on to the food. The food is where Escobar's won me over. My order of three different enchiladas, beans and rice was simple, yet delicious. The salsa was different than the Tex-Mex style I was used to, but was also very good. For the price, I don't think you can beat it in Kanab. If I find myself in Kanab again I will definitely be back. i just hope they address their service issues. read more

They got my order wrong initially (shredded vs ground beef). The ground beef in the tacos tasted terrible and the owner still kept the meal on my ticket and just said other customers had not complained. My ticket was not brought to my table and when I went to the host station where there three employers gossiping for two minutes before I was acknowledged. Horrible service, horrible food. I don't know what to do other than report this fraud as I was basically held hostage to pay 38 dollars for 2 horrible taco's and 3 mediocre enchiladas with some rice and beans. Came here on a Thursday at 3 pm and there was a steady stream of people coming! It was a touristy time, but still! We ordered the pork carnitas- delicious. The pork chimichanga- so good. And the Escobar salad with carne asada - awesome. We got a bean burrito and beef burrito for our kids and I was really loving them! It's chunky beef in red sauce, two thumbs up. Especially for how inexpensive they were. We returned the NEXT day and ordered the carnitas again and the Escobar salad, this time with chicken- delicious too. I mixed it up and got the chicken avocado tostada and it was good. But not dying over it. Will come again next time we're in town! read more

Came here late on weekend on our way to Zion National Park. Surprisingly this place is pretty decent. Since there's not many restaurant in the area and also considering it was around 8/9pm there wasn't much option either. There was a wait time but it wasn't too bad. Service was pretty quick and food also came out in a timely manner. Got the beef fajita and it was enough to fill my bf and I. We were happy to fill our belly up and pricing is fair. Rolled into Kanab on Sunday evening. Looking for something to eat we came across Escobar's. It looked busy (usually a good sign for a small town). We waited maybe an half hour to get in. One gentleman leaving told us "It's worth the wait." And it was :). We got a corner table they immediately brought us a pitcher of water and glasses, along with chips and salsa. The salsa is fantastic. My wife told me we needed to get some chips and salsa to go. We ordered and the food came out in no time. And it was good the refried beans were excellent, the rice seemed a little dry but had good flavor. My cheese enchiladas were perfect and my wife's chili verde was really tasty. I had dinner combo #2 and I usually always get chicken enchiladas everywhere I go... the enchilada was #4 of the items on the plate! The relleño was #1... it's a must get. Coming from Texas we were pretty skeptical of what small town Utah had to offer. We were very pleased to find that Escobars is in fact, the jam. The owner Rosa remembers your order, making things pretty simple if you enjoyed what you had last time...which you should because it's delicious. For kids they have mini corn dogs, chicken fingers and fries and also they do charge for the second round of chips and salsa. I think the 15th may be free but I've never made it that far. read more
