Opening the Udi's door on a frigid spring day, I was blasted with instant warmth and cheer.The place was packed and the space is comfortable. The kind of cafe you want to waste your afternoon in. Instant environment points. As I actually got to the "food" portion of my experience, my excitement waned. I jumped up and down when I spied Bhakti Chai on the menu but when I was told the only dairy option was soy I cringed. For such an "allergy friendly" company I was disappointed that they didn't have better dairy free options.The woman taking our order was also a bit confused about gluten/celiac options which threw me off base. Udi's seems like the one place that is safe to all the folks with nasty food issues. Maybe not. Once we actually grubbed I was happy again. Nothing out of this world but delicious, dependable food options that I know will make my tummy happy. I used to work in the neighborhood, and being Gluten free I definitely miss this place. Their burgers are good (my favorite was the swiss and mushroom) as well as their salads. They also have a great variety of breakfast items, like their California egg sandwich- egg, cream cheese and avocado on toasted bread. I did take a star off because the place is kind of small, and with the neighborhood it is always packed with strollers, making it hard to move around. Another issue is the flies in the summer. They open the doors frequently to serve the outdoor patio, so the flies get in and they are aggressive. They'll fly into you and land on your food if you even look away for a second. So, definitely try Udi's, but I would recommend taking it to go! read more

I'd have to give Udi's a 3.5 out of 5 based on my two visits here for lunch. Service is always meh hence the removal of 1.5 stars. I've been in when it was super busy during lunch time and then also on the later side for lunch and both times I wasn't thrilled with service. Today's lunch was the mango chicken salad--quite tasty and the half size is more than enough food. I asked for a different salad dressing on the side since the orange balsamic isn't really my thing. Salad arrives and it's got...orange balsamic. Of course I didn't realize it until I'd already drizzled said dressing all over my salad. Ick. I went ahead and ate it since I should have tasted before drizzling but still. I did ask for a different dressing AND both of the other girls at my table also had the same issue. It took a good 10 minutes for one person to get their sandwich and only part of what they'd ordered on the side. It took another 10 minutes to get the two other salads to the table. And then another 5-7 minutes to get the correct dressings and side orders the girls had placed. I get that it's lunch time and it's busy but if our orders are rung in correctly from the get go then why is this such an issue? This location seems to be crowded whenever I go but they do a good job of handling the lunch/dinner crowd. Breakfast on weekends is another story but that seems to be the complaint everywhere. The past two times I have eaten at Udi's have been sub-par. The first time I had the southwest chicken salad, which was alright although it tasted a little off - like the ingredients had been lying around too long. This time I got the cobb salad and they dumped so much overpoweringly strong blue cheese on it that I couldn't eat more than half. Also, both times my stomach "rioted" within half an hour of eating- I won't go into detail, but for the love of christ, make sure you're within sprinting distance of a bathroom. Etai's Bakery Cafe food is amazing! The company where I work treated the employees for lunch and pick Etai's Bakery Cafe. I was so excited to see there was a Vegan option on the menu, along with Gluten-free, Vegetarian, Low Carb, and Paleo. I selected the pita sandwich a Falafel vegan sandwich, which comes with hummus, tahini sauce, falafels, served with shredded lettuce and toppings. I called and spoken to the manager asking," if it wasn't too much trouble, could the food items be separate?" So that the flatbread would not be too soggy before lunch arrived. And the manager sent the order in little containers, as promised. Every bite was fresh and tasty! But the amazing part is that I found a new cafe for me and my family to enjoy clean eating and will continue to support Etai's Bakery Cafe. Why? It's local, it's healthy, and freshly catered. The prices are really responsible, and the service makes it one of the best restaurants on the scene. I gave Etai's Bakery Cafe 5 stars for these reasons. We were looking for a brunch place over the labor day weekend after we arrived in Denver and ran into this place. This location was packed! But our orders came fairly quickly & servers were friendly. We ordered a French Dip & Chicken Croissafel (not sure about spelling). Both are really good. The bread on the French Dip was unique & crispy...the beef was so tasty & salad came in really fresh. Chicken Croissafel was one of a kind: breaded chicken topped with wafel & gravy...this one is a must try!! We also ordered a drink called mangolicious with peach & kale (??). It was fresh & tasted healthy. :). The only drawback of this place is it's not very spacious, especially during peak hours. We'll definitely be back when we're in Denver area. read more

Tried Etai's for the first time today, and I left happy. So many things on the menu looked good, but I went with the Reuben sandwich this time which comes with a side so I chose the classic fries. The sandwich was excellent, plenty of meat just the right amount of kruat and swiss cheese. The fries were a little soggy and overcooked, but still edible. I plan to return and try all the things that looked good on their menu, the seared tuna salad sounds delightful, and it's what I plan to try next.
