So very disappointed. Set up a lunch to take my good friend here for her birthday. Made a reservation and they asked what special occasion if any. I said birthday. When we arrived they seated us in the bar, not the dining room, which was odd and not desirable. It was not crowded or full at all in the dining room. Menu was so-so with lots of heavy items for summer in AZ? We both ordered the little gem salad. She added shrimp I added salmon. After ordering I asked if they could bring us a little bread. Server said "you have to buy it." Odd so we declined. Salads were on the small side and average, we both have had better. Afterwards they asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. No mention of it being my friend's birthday, no little birthday dessert brought out with a candle, nothing. So why did they ask when I made the reservation? Very odd so we ordered the " donut holes" which the server called them. Not holes at all but flat discs of fried dough. Again, just average. Overall service was not that great. Hmmmmm. So extremely weird vibes with this Place. Food. So so. Be prepared to pay an arm and leg for mehhhh. Not so much. Service is very slow. Also half the table for their meal while the other waited because "we have a ready serve kitchen...." Oh. Ok. Well. I'm going to stare at my plate while others wait 15 minutes for theirs. Two Orders came out incorrect.... And what's strange. Nothing was changed on the order.... It was just missing pieces of what was described on the menu. Lastly. ..... I received my check. This was our second time at Etta and unfortunately it was a disappointment. We were seated on the outside patio (we did have a reservation but had not selected outdoor- I thought due to heat it would be closed). The temperature was very comfortable, but the patio was not as clean as I would like. There were fur balls and hair- like a pet had been sitting around the table. The outdoor area also had a lot of flys, like there was sugar on the floor that was driving them in. The noise level outside was fine- we could talk and there was not a lot of street noise. Inside the noise level was a little loud. I like to go to dinner and be able to have a conversation with music in the background, not compete with it or have to talk over it. My biggest issue was the service. Our waiter could have cared less about providing a good dining experience. Attitude and service was lackluster to say the least. The first course we had the focaccia bread (delicious) and octopus which was good, and the beet salad. The beets were cooked well, but the seasoning needed to be better distributed as we would get areas that were heavy vinegar tasting and others that had none. We had the oxtail pasta and wagyu beef to share as our main dish. These did not come out at the same time, the pasta was not warm, and the wagyu beef when it arrived was not flavorful at all. Our waiter was aware that we were sharing but did not provide plates- we asked and they never came. Water and ice tea were never replenished, even when requested. The waiter kept wiping his face with his hand and then serving- not cool! When the bill came, as discussed in other reviews, there is a fee added for employee benefits. It is nominal, and while I am not a fan of this practice, I was aware going in. The first time we came to Etta, we were seated inside, and the service was average- not great just average but it was right after they opened. The service we had on the most recent visit will cause us not to return. There are too many other options where the service, food, and atmosphere outshine Etta. read more

We went for brunch this morning and I have to say, the food was pretty good. What was clearly lacking was the service. We had two waiters (one was a waiter in training, I believe) and they disappeared right after they welcomed us. We ordered an apple fritter way before our meal, and that was nowhere to be found until after our meal. The main waiter appeared to be walking in circles with no purpose. Never had anything in his hands, and rarely checked in on us. When the food came before the fritter, I pointed that out and he seemed insulted. In a service industry, a little personality goes a long way, and there was none here. The soft scramble had a delicious truffle flavor and the bread was so good, but the service gave us a bad aftertaste. Love the decor. Even the bathrooms were nice! But for these prices, I expect that my waiter at least be personable. We'll probably give it another chance and try dinner, but I hope thing get better. It appears they have a lot to work out here, and I hope they get it right because this place has potential! read more

This is my second time coming here and would give 5 stars if it weren't for the service we received tonight. If you want to eat some amazing food, enjoy excellent cocktails/wine, and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere, I highly recommend that you don't have Nick G. as your server. It was my best friend's engagement dinner and it did not feel like there was any effort made to make the evening special. We were not checked on and every time we talked to Nick G. it seemed like he was annoyed. At one point, he very obviously looked over to see what was on one of our friend's phone. Creepy, rude, unprofessional, and a complete invasion of privacy. Dessert menus were slammed down on the table followed by an eye roll when we said that we were too full for dessert. To no surprise, the check was also slammed down on the table and none of us realized it would be such big of a deal to split the check into two. Wouldn't you ask if the bill needed to be split at the beginning of the night for a party of 7? Overall, the food was delicious but the service was horrible. read more

I'll Start off by saying the food was great. However the price tag is hefty. $23 for a glass of Chardonnay (that was the only option). Service was spot on but the thing that upset me and my party was the employee benefit charge on your final bill 3.5% of the total. Give me a break. This is so tacky and wrong. My pizza tasted soapy- almost perfume like- They informed me when I ordered a soft drink that they would not offer a free refill, each drink would be additional, fine, but it was uncomfortable to be told, maybe tack it on the menu? The topper, our party of 6 and two children was charged an additional $22. for "staff health benefits" you know, charge me a dollar more per item, but don't ask me to participate for what should be YOUR responsibility! Family tried Etta for brunch. The service was amazing-one of the most attentive and friendly staffs I've ever experienced. I enjoyed one of their creative cocktails, so yummy! My daughter got the avocado toast with was stunning and she ate the whole giant thing. My husband and I shared the bubbling shrimp, chopped salad and branzino. Loved the salad and branzino - that branzino was incredible! My only negative is the prices are way too high for the food/portion. Branzino is an entree for $22 but it wasn't the whole fish, only a small filet and no sides. Most people would not consider that portion an entree and more food would need to be ordered. Bubbling shrimp is an appetizer but $18-i think there were only 6 shrimp and they were small, my least favorite dish too. Our 'brunch' bill for 2 adults and a child was $120...yikes!!! read more

I was so excited once I learned etta was opening in AZ, every time I come the service and food are amazing. The ricotta pillows and bubbling shrimp are must haves! I don't leave reviews but this place is an exception. And not in a good way. My husband and I had reservations here on the 11th and unfortunately basically left half way through our meal; if you can even call it that. We ordered drinks; ricotta pillows, oysters, raviolis, and wagyu sirloin... in full transparency the appetizers where yummy but the steak was absolutely atrocious. When I was too embarrassed to spit it out, I said something to our wonderful waitress who insisted we send it back for a new order. That's where everything went downhill. They brought the same piece of meat back re-heated! Like it being undercooked was the problem?!? Truly baffled At this point we asked for the check and left. Instead the food options was a very small selection with only 6 things to order if you didn't want a salad, vegetables, or spend $75+ on a dish. The place is super nice when walking in and very well kept . The hostess was super nice and informed me of a few of her favorites after I asked her where to start since it was our first time there .Our Service was really good and the staff was friendly . As far as the food goes , I would advise you avoid the bolognese completely . It literally tasted like chef boyardee and that is not a joke .The pizza is the most decent thing we ordered out of the few items ordered. The meatball app wasn't what I expected but had a fresh summer flare to it. We also Ordered a chicken sandwich to go to take to a friend and they advised me the chicken was undercooked . Not at all a pleasant dining experience: So excited that a "two times awarded Michelin chef" was opening a new restaurant near by, being huge foodies we couldn't wait to visit. The food was sublime and did not disappoint. The rest of the experience doesn't even deserve two stars: 1) we were originally seated next to a screaming toddler who was throwing pens on the floor ( not the restaurant's fault) We asked that our table be moved and the hostess graciously showed us another table. Since we had already ordered two glasses of wine and two apps we were told we had to close out our check. We found this to be very strange and uncomfortable, not feeling we should be paying a gratuity and the requested health care tax for a server who wasn't even serving us, before the meal was complete. Not wanting to interrupt our dining experience, nor touch a pen that hundreds of people used to sign the check before digging into our meal, we put the check aside. Well, the original server was actually STALKING US to see if he could collect the check. This was kind of insulting: did they think we were going to skip out without paying? He finally walked over to us, while we were still working on our first course to explain he needed to close out the bill. 2) As we normally do, we had requested a tiny taste of the wine prior to ordering by the glass. It was good so I ordered one. Now this is something I have NEVER EVER seen before in the 40+ years I have been dining out: the server brought back a glass with a lipstick stain. It turned out that the tasting glass ( which still had some WARM white wine) was reused. It may have been my lipstick but still: they were saving a bit of warm wine to cap off the overly expensive one I ordered?CLASSLESS. 3) When ordering a second course we asked that another glass of wine be brought with that dish. Our delicious pasta came but we had to wait 10 minutes to get someone to get us the wine because we were told "food runners and kitchen staff cannot get a glass of wine for a customer ". During all this time no server (and by the way shouldn't there be a manager overseeing the whole restaurant?) came to ask how our course was which would have been a great time to remind them about the wine. We waited to eat the pasta because great food and great wine should be paired but sadly by the time we actually received the wine our pasta was ice cold. The server apologized but did he offer to re make the pasta? Absolutely not. If he had, I probably wouldn't even be writing this review. All in all, not a seamless dining experience; certainly not one that should go along with 5 star quality food. Dining is also about ambiance, service and making the customer happy and comfortable. The chef is mistaken if he thinks he can rest on his Michelin laurels when not fulfilling the other components to create an outstanding evening. Since most of these issues are related to poor training and management, I'd like to point out that management only responds to 5 star YELP reviews, and not the poor ones. To me this implies that they are not really interested in improving so, sadly, we will not be back. read more

Meh, we were not impressed. Food was okay, not great. Portions are very small for the price. The shrimp appetizer came with 4 very small shrimp. They brought out the wrong salad, which we let them know before they even set it in the table. They took it away, but then our server came over and kind of argued with us about her getting our order wrong. It wouldn't have been a big deal at all, mistakes happen, but her reaction to the issue was strange. Also, the employee benefit surcharge they add to your bill seems a little sneaky. They just add it to your bill with really no explanation or heads up. I'm all for supporting the employees and believe they should get benefits, but to me it's on the restaurant owners/management to factor this in to their menu prices. My first time having lunch at this new place that just opened at Scottsdale Quarters. The waitress was terrible! I went with 2 of my friends. The waitress took our orders and another gal came to serve the food. Unfortunately, it wasn't our food. The manager came by and asked what we ordered. The manager came with two orders...mine wasn't ready. Meanwhile my friends started to eat their food and mine came 10 minutes later! It was my birthday so my friends wanted me to order a dessert. Only three desserts were offered. The one I wanted wasn't available. The second one I ordered they were out of. I had no choice but to have the third dessert. Do not go to this place!!! The food was good. My issue was with the bill. My wife and I had a Coke and a Diet Coke which ended up costing almost $20. The drink glass cups are very small so they only hold about 4 ounces of soda including the ice. Each of us asked for a refill. Apparently there is a charge for each drink order even though that was never communicated. Then we were charged an additional fee to cover health insurance which was once again not communicated. Came here for my birthday dinner & it did not disappoint! We ordered the wood fire focaccia, oysters & octopus for apps, my favorite was the oysters! They add a verse sauce to them that truly melts in your mouth; soooo good. The octopus was my second favorite, tons of flavor! We did family style for the rest of the entrees, the wild mushroom pizza was incredible!! Thin crust so it was light but really well put together with flavoring. Had dinner recently at the restaurant and was not impressed with the food and choices. Our server told us that the food was to be shared, appetizers, small salads with no protein options and just 4 entrees. Pizza was okay, but the appetizer shrimp were small and pricey. Asparagus was all stems and not whole asparagus, pricey for the way they were served. Although flavors were good, the choices and portions were too pricey for the items. Stumbled upon this place one day after shopping at the Quarters. Came in for some drinks but happened to also be happy hour. Everything we tried was very good and decided to come back another day for their dinner menu. Dinner did not disappoint. We got wagyu carpaccio, ricotta pillows, little gem salad, bolognese and the elote pizza. Pricey and lacks any interaction from staff.. portions are less than a child meal drinks are thimble size....not for me too many rules

My wife and I tried this place with friends of ours this weekend and sadly... the food sucked. The first thing that really downed the place was our hostess leading us to the table directly adjacent to the bathroom. I do NOT sit next to the bathroom as I don't enjoy the aroma of urinal cake mixed in with my overpriced food. In retrospect, the food could not have tasted any worse with the added scent of toilet. I'd give our server four stars because the guy was attentive but not bothersome and we enjoyed joking with him. I ordered the pork that was tough, room temperature, and too spicy for my taste. My wife ordered pizza that was frankly meh and also a bit too spicy. The bread was about the most edible thing. As an aside I know there's lots of people in Scottsdale with tons of money and having items like $150 lobster dish might not be over the top however, for me, that's off the chart. I have eaten much better food at other restaurants for way less $. read more

Been here a few times, but won't be back. This time went for the winter Apres-ski special event I kept seeing social media ads for- hot toddy cart, fire-side s'mores, etc. it was our waitresses first week and unfortunately she was not versed in the menu. And, "the cart" was "broken" and my hot toddy was literally warm water and vodka until I added lemon and it was warm vodka- lemon water. Horrible. The "fire-side" s'mores were basically toasted over a candle. There was a large party with about 15 kids at it that was so loud I couldn't think but thankfully the bathroom is sound proof so when you close the door you get one moment away from the screaming. With so many amazing places in Scottsdale I won't be wasting my time or money here again. read more
