This review is strictly for our wedding cake! After doing a lot of research online, I stumbled across this place and it really spoke to me. Yelpers give it great reviews, my husband and I met in Europe, and we also wanted a cake that would taste good for a good price for our small wedding party (cake was $90). I called a few months ahead to talk about the wedding cake options and the person working there was super helpful. I soon made my reservation and paid for it ahead online. Another worker called the week of our wedding to confirm the details and the best ways to store and serve it before the dinner. We ended up getting their famous Swiss Black Forest cake topped with vanilla frosting. The detail in the frosting was so beautiful! We added a custom cake topper I got from Etsy. We had a small 14 person wedding with just our family (2 babies included) and it was perfect for our wedding dinner. We even had leftovers, which some family members enjoyed the next day. We were so happy with our choice with this cake. We look forward to visiting San Diego again soon and stopping by this bakery to have more of this delicious cake and remember our big day! My daughter requested her favorite cake from this shop for her 30th birthday since we flew in from Texas. It's one we've eaten for 35 years as we lived in Point Loma. Unfortunately, the cake tasted very freezer burnt and after the initial cake cutting and half was left, no one wanted it! Although I conversed with the gal that helped me in the shop and told her, she was unwilling to make it right. We are staying far away and she asked for us to return it. Beautiful cake and it's layered with both chocolate and vanilla fluffy cream inside. Ordering tip: order it frozen and it will be the perfect temperate when serving 4-5 hrs later. One thing to note is you cannot leave this cake out for too long so clear your fridge ahead of time! I ordered online this time and I definitely was nervous whether I did everything right.... But since I got an email confirmation. I felt ok, and just went during my intended pick up and there she was a beautiful cake and 6 cupcakes ready for me! We love how the cake is not overly sweet and very moist and light! Cupcakes were a little dry, so maybe stick to the whole cakes or even the cake slices they offer. Parking was so easy! I came here for a cake to be served with Christmas dinner. On the one hand I was glad they were open on the 23rd and had desserts available, on the other I really wished we'd gone somewhere else. The cake sizes are pretty much all or nothing. My daughter doesn't like chocolate so we bought her a single serving slice of the white chocolate raspberry. The next size up feeds 16-20 people. Wow, really? Nothing in between? So I went with the $43 16-20 people-feeder (which I needed for 5 people) and chose German chocolate. I have to say that was the most disappointing German chocolate cake I've ever had. The frosting was pretty smooth for German chocolate and not very flavorful. The husband declared the cake itself dry. I had an $8 German chocolate cake for my birthday 15 years ago from Safeway and that was much better. (It also fed a reasonable 6 people.) No one really wanted more of the cake except for my 11-year-old son and that was mostly because we suggested it so he'd leave the good Christmas treats around the house to the rest of us. It's hard to judge based on the tiny bite I had of the white chocolate raspberry but I think that was a little better. The person ahead of us in line "wore" a mask but had it pulled down under his chin. I wish the people at the bakery were stricter on their mask policies and didn't allow him inside.
