I visited this place for the first time in 5 or 6 years, drawn back by fond memories of their Tikka Masala Fries. Passing by recently, I decided to try and recreate those old experiences. Unfortunately, I found that the fries have changed. I'm unsure if there's a new owner, but the new fries just aren't the same. I really miss the old ones. We ordered Tikka Masala Fries and an assorted combination platter, which included chicken tikka, sheesh kabab, vegetable sambosa, and vegetable pakoras. The customer service was excellent. The guy at the register welcomed us warmly and asked where we preferred to sit. The food quality was great, and the tables were clean and quiet, which was nice for a Wednesday afternoon. Our food was ready in a reasonable time and was hot and fresh. My only wish is for them to bring back the original fries. I'll share a picture of the old fries in hopes that someone can pass the word along because I know many former customers, especially among my Middle Eastern friends, who would love to see them return. read more

Just went out to try this place for dinner since it came under new ownership. It looks really pretty at least from the outside. Hours say they're supposed to be open right now, but they are definitely closed as there are chairs blocking the door. This place was a HUGE disappointment. I felt ripped off and had a hard time believing that my food was cooked by a professional. I was ecstatic to see Fish Pakora on the menu. Ever since Royal Rasoi renamed themselves and dropped Fish Pakora off the menu, I have been bummed because no where else has it. So I had to order it just to see if it compared. I also ordered Chicken Vindaloo to go along with it. I was very disappointed when my order arrived. The Fish Pakora was tiny little diced chunks. Every single piece was hard and rubbery with barely any meat. It was like jerky. It came with a chutney that was just green water. I couldnt even scoop up anything solid in it with a spoon. The Chicken Vindaloo didnt want to be outdone and was the smallest portion I have ever seen for $19.75. It had TWO small chunks of chicken in it and 4 quarters of potato in sauce. So I literally paid $20 for two pieces of chicken that would equal one McDonalds nugget and a potato cut up into quarters. What a rip off. I am never coming here again and will make sure to tell everyone its not worth it. You should be ashamed taking peoples money for that piddly amount of food. read more

I strongly suspect this restaurant is NOT halal for the following reasons: 1. Other reviewers note a change of ownership about 6 months ago. Did not know this. 2. The "halal" signs in the window are gone. The signs say they are Indian and Nepali now. 3. I asked the owner if they are halal. He said, "Yes, we are halal. We have no beef." That is NOT how halal works! 4. There were pictures of the Buddha on the TV screen. 5. There were free copies of the Bhagavadgita (Hare Krishna religious book) inside. There is nothing wrong with being an Indian restaurant that does not serve beef. However, I felt that the owner was not truthful to me about being halal. Use your own judgment. read more

Ambiance: Ate dinner on a Thursday night around 8pm and the place was nice and bright! You order your food at the counter and then if you're dining in, they'll bring your food to your table. Service: the only person working around the time was I believe the shop owner. He was super nice and even though we came a little near closing time, he was very attentive and told us to take our time and enjoy the meal! Even turned the tv and music on for us and always made sure our water glasses were full! He even packaged our food for us since we couldn't finish everything. Food: Food was delicious and at a great price! The shop owner made it himself, and though it took a bit of time, once the food came out, you could tell he wanted to present it well and made sure it was fresh! I don't often enjoy Indian food but my husband ordered to go from here about a month ago that was great so I decided to come for myself to see what else was offered. I will say that they may have changed owners because the inside looked new and my husband said it didn't look like the brown interior in the pictures others have left. It's light gray around and looks new. Anyway, I ordered the vegetable samosas, chicken tikka masala, chicken tikka kabob, and the garlic cilantro naan. The food took awhile to make but considering they made the chicken tikka kabob fresh on the skewer, it made sense. My husband loved the vegetable samosas (it came with two). It came with two sauces- one green and one brown but I'm not sure what the flavors were. I want to say the green almost had a somewhat mint flavor. The chicken tikka masala was good but it a la carte. I needed to ask for rice. The other owners or old recipe that my husband ordered last time came with rice and a salad so it was a bit disappointing that it didn't have the fixings. But overall the flavor was good. I dipped the garlic naan bread in it and it was bomb! The chicken tikka kabob was a tiny bit dry but the lime and onion and sauce it was dressed with really brightened the dish. Overall, although I wish my orders did have some sides already so that it could be like a plate, the flavors were still good. Ordered the lamb biryani. It was extremely dry since the lamb and the rice were overcooked. I was asked how spicy I wanted it and when I told him very spicy, he ask patronizing "so a little spicy". The dish lacked the variety of spices typically used for biryani and I had to season my food more when I get home. Visited this place over the weekend for lunch. We ordered paneer makhni and malai kofta with their bread platter. The curries were delicious. It usually comes with the rice, so if anybody likes to eat curries with rice, the good thing is that you do not have to order it separately. It is run by a couple and they are really warm and friendly. It was a bit empty for weekend lunch time, but then we went late around 1pm, so not sure if that was the reason. Wonder why all the Indian food places are in South Orange County? My fav place (bawarchi biryanis) in Lake Forest closed down so I'm on the hunt to discover a new spot that has dank biryani. What a waste, I would of rather had more biryani than salad that I don't eat. The spice level is on point! The chicken is boneless but I was disappointed. Found this place while I was in the area on a weekday night and decided to give it a shot. I usually don't go for a la carte Indian food due to the higher prices but the Indian buffet didn't seem to be available when I went, so i opted for to go. I got to try the classic saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, mango lassi, and even their chicken tikka fries as they seem popular. The chicken tikka fries were well seasoned and flavorful, with quite a bit of pieces of chicken breast to top it off. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like they gave that much when you compare it to something like some Carne asada fries. Also, another downside would be the way it was packaged. The box didn't allow the heat to disappate from the fries and it was on the very bottom of bag, so by the time I tried it, it was soggy. Definitely an item you should eat there. The saag paneer was pretty good. It was soft, creamy spinach that is lighter on the flavor side. Definitely wished there was more paneer included, but compared to other places I've seen, the container for a la carte was bigger! Definitely a plus. The chicken tikka masala here was well seasoned but the meat itself was still on the dryer side even when soaked in all the sauce. Although the sauce was pretty good with the naan, the chicken itself could be better. The garlic naan here was on the softer and thicker side compared to others that might was thinner and crisper. Does well in soaking up sauce and picking up food! As a garlic fiend, definitely wished it had more garlic to it. The mango lassi might actually be the best thing I got here. It had the creaminess and thickness I look for in a lassi, without it being too overly sweet. Actually tasted like just mango was used without any added sweeteners! Overall there were a lot of "buts" in this review but it's by no means a bad place. I would come back to try their Indian buffet if I was in the area again. read more

The owner couple are the most genuine, honest, kindest and best chef- they offered us the most authentic Indian food that I have had in a long time! One of my favorite Indian places in Orange County. Although it is a little far from me (Irvine) I'd prob make my way there 3-4 times a year to get Indian takeout. Fresh veggies, garlic sauce, and seared chicken, all wrapped in a soft pita bread. This was pretty good, but it did fall apart halfway through eating it, but still good enough to eat with a fork. This place has changed! My wife and I used to eat here almost once a week a couple years ago and loved the service and food. We used to get tikka masala bowls or wraps for about $10 each. They had a very simple menu, the owner was very nice and helpful, and you couldn't beat the price. So I decided to stop in and get myself a chicken tikka masala bowl. Right away I noticed a difference in the menu. What used to be a simple menu now had over 100 items crammed into it. The place was completely empty on a Saturday afternoon and I still had to wait 5 minutes before anyone came out to greet me. I asked if I could get a curry platter or bowl, like they used to have on the menu. The man told me we don't make bowls anymore everything is a la carte. I asked if I could just get some rice and chicken tikka masala and he said well I could make a meal out of it for $5 more. So I decided to go for that. What used to be a $10 meal was now a $25 feast which really wasn't what I was looking for. They must have changed ownership because the food just isn't the same great taste I was used to. Tikka, Indian Cuisine on Marguerite in Mission Viejo is really authentic Indian food. As A person, who grew up on Indian food, this is as close to home cooking as possible. The fries had a lot of flavor and spices sprinkled on top - pretty good and very different from any fries I've had. If you're ordering for a group, the Tikki masala bowls come with a ton of rice that will keep everyone full. Thumbs up for their chicken tikka masala fries. I'm not much of a fan of the curry spices. However, even with it not being my favorite the fries were executed well. Fries are crispy with the sauce bringing a nice kick in spice. Chicken is flavored and tender. The white garlic sauce on the fries was my favorite. The service there is great as the employees had a great attitude in making sure our experience there was great. They made sure to offer us any more sauces or such if we would like and made sure to offer us any extra plates or if we would like anything else since we were sharing. Inside is very clean. Me and my dad order takeout from this place often, and the food has never let us down. About a month ago, however, I decided on a whim to sit down and eat my lunch there alone. The ambiance during the day was quite nice, as the place wasn't too crowded or loud and the natural light coming from the windows was very nice. The service was exceptional. The entire restaurant is run by one man, and he took my order, was kind and welcoming, and showed me lots of respect. He also makes everything fresh, and it shows. My food was incredible. To add to it all, I left my flannel at the restaurant, and when I returned very recently after not eating at this restaurant for several weeks, the man immediately recognized me, remembered where i had last sat, and walked over to the back to grab my flannel where he had kept it in hopes I would come back so he could return it.
